  1. I guess maybe I'm off about the value of that book. Looked outrageous even smelly to me didn't realize the book was that volatile (a few months ago got a Fn/F- for 325, didn't seem a steal at time). Many here know more than I do.
  2. Just, wow. Not sure what to think. Er, good for seller, I guess? Ebay Amazing Spider-Man #13 maybe 4.0 on its best day One other lottery winner?, shill?, sucker?, um, collector, was it all it took
  3. Don't mind oak, he just sounds jaded, for every legit collector announcing themselves as new here, it seems there are a handful of others, inlcuding e.g. shill accounts, advertisements or trolling for offers, or some other false front or ulterior motive other than a 'hale fellow, well met.' Some nice keys you pulled out. http://i.imgur.com/gallery/3wewm.jpg
  4. Finally some wishers that don't sound as if they have the 'monkey's paw' tucked away somewhere in the back of their minds. My wish - each year the number of comics collectors grow by one half of one percent (even just the US pop), might help put an end to a lot of the 'bubble' talk.
  5. That's ok, they can't extirpate my memory of the thread. Now where'd I put that scotch?
  6. Often missing in the link is to start and end with: . And other commonly missing item that prevents from working is to add ".jpg" at end of the URL, e.g. this is for hosting site imgur, and I added a * so you see text and not the pic. [img*]http://i.imgur.com/2CaEkxQ.jpg[/img]
  7. NoMan, you seem a reasonable guy, how bad is the coloring in this pic (from the Adams Omnibus) compared to the comic you just read (Tec 395)? When I came back to collecting after having sold all my Adams' Batmans and saw how high the prices had increased I went to Amazon and bought the Batman Omni, but the couple of times I mentioned using it as my Batman readers I'm mocked (nothing harsh of course, not here) because the color palette used was so godawful.
  8. For me the spine splits combined with book tear knock it from 2.5 to 2.0. Great pence.
  9. Sqeggs is great, and a lot of good info in this thread. I like clean well place date stamps myself, almost as much as I dislike sigs on the front cover.
  10. Hey, bud, probably a 7.0. Small chance (maybe 5-10%) up or down a step. Leaning toward 7.5 but it would really depend on freshness, absence of surface wear, and overall eye appeal. Great coloring and centering.
  11. Still the wrong place - any time you post if you can still see "Comics Market - Forum Only Selling Area" near the top of page, it is the wrong place. This section of board is for stuff listed on the forum only. The right place is the area that says: "Comics Market - Sales Advertising - Ebay, Dealers, etc." Just an fyi if interested.
  12. The top rt corner seems a bit soft, maybe it's a 9.2, so hard to tell from scans, could only spot a couple of spine tics that I don't think will disappear (left of Robby's ear, and Spiderman's knee). On back cover, top left quadrant, are those impressions to left of "$1800?"
  13. After the bottom right, surface wear along the spine seems to be the worst sign of wear, but as you see I also think 6./6.5 since it's a very old book. Imo, blunting top of spine and the creases bottom right are both consistent with FN range book.
  14. I'd guess 8.5 to 9.0. I'll let the pressers/experts speculate on the second Q.
  15. Good find, looks like a bidding war/battle of ego behind that one, guy even used a stock photo. Or perhaps they've bought vf/nm from him before that arrived 9.6? I know he's a v.good seller, just don't recall that he's a big undergrader (he might be).
  16. Not only that, he sent you his regards. (I never got anything like that from him.)
  17. ^Two quick comment/refinements- as a buyer I notice and remember "free ship" sellers and I think I tend to buy a bit more from those guys (or at least notice them, e.g. sparkle city, and infinity if over $100). And as a seller I've had to catch myself from holding back freebies because they might push me to the next higher ship cost increment (although might be more related to fact I don't ship media nearly as often the past few rounds).
  18. ^Were there any reprints that were exact reproductions including the precise match of little numbers in the corners? Moonie, sounds like you are right.
  19. Based on the smallish scans, the #8 looks 6.5 +. Need better scan or pics to be sure it's not a VF. Is that a tear at top edge of the 266? If not, looks 9.2 range, if a tear, maybe 8.0+?
  20. Totally real it would seem, and totally cracks me up. Google image search "steve ditko signature" for several similar looking notes from the great Mr. Ditko. Pity about the grammatical error/typo that makes it look a bit rushed.
  21. From the pic I can't be sure if it shows tape, some tape residue, or just some stain where the tape used to be. Or some other kind of stain from repair. And it's already stained through to the front cover anyway.
  22. Last year I securely shipped two comics from US to UK to a boardie for just under $30 (on ebay I don't ship internationally). Buyer gave me instructions on how to complete the customs slip. It went so smoothly I considered adding UK to places I'll ship on ebay, but then Sterling got hammered and so I canceled my plans.
  23. I tried free shipping a while and concluded I was better off with the $4 charge (or $12 for med. flat rate priority, on things like slabs or bulk lots). I could be wrong but didn't notice materially higher winning bids (or even higher enough to cover shipping in many cases) when I had 'free ship' policy, and my (limited) research suggested a nominal/fair ship cost didn't drive prospective bidders away, so concluded that I was throwing money away with my 'free ship.' For larger BIN lots I'll still use 'free ship' policy, which can complicate things for buyers shopping my other items with ship costs, and I try to keep my ads lean without listing every detail of how to combine shipping in every permutation. With a growing tolerance for the "flash mailers" (I use the geminii II) and ebay getting special USPS rules permitting first class up to 16 oz. it's possible to keep actual shipping pretty low for first class up to 4 books, which may have helped shape my current policy .
