  1. If CGC doesn't provide value, then why are they putting more value on the book after it's been graded only to charge the customer more money? If the book is then lost, only a CGC credit is given? They don't send out checks to customers
  2. How can you not be? While he's doesn't have Keown pretty art style...His page designs and storytelling are far superior than that of Keown
  3. GSX 1 is just a new X-Men team. One could argue ASM 299 is the 1st appearance of Venom. While it's great to have a Hulk 180, 181 takes the cake because the cover is so much better than the 180 and he's throughout the whole book and on the cover, not a small single panel on the last page. 180 just isn't as sexy as the 181.
  4. 181 all the way. Don't worry about census numbers, the census is full of ghost numbers. That's just how many times they have given a grade to the book X number of times, not everyone sends back the labels. So the census numbers are off and is not the end all, be all deciding factor of what or not to purchase. I see Hulk 181 as "Investing in Wolverine" Just like people invest in Spider-Man. The more popular the character, the more expensive their 1st appearance is going to be. GSX 1 is great to have, but Storm, Nightcrawler and Colossus aren't Wolverine. That's why I traded away my Journey 83 7.0 years ago to get a 2.5 AF 15....Thor is great, but he's not Spider-Man. Get a 181 now while the book is asleep, don't wait for a "market correction" Once Wolverine is announced, you'd wish you had acted sooner.
  5. I'm starting to think the graders are so busy, they don't have time to write down notes, which is probably why they are free now haha
  6. Autographed comics are for comic fanboys, not comic investors. I know i don't want some stupid Stan Lee autographed comic who signed the book, right across the characters face
  7. Along with having everything else
  8. No matter what people list off as good investments, someone on here will always say it's bad advice and it usually comes from fanboys who wanna sniff old newsprint, "Oh you wanna invest in a Startling 49? Oh no, that book isn't going anywhere!, I'd never invest in that " Comic readers don't like comic investors cause selling a comic at auction for profit isn't how they see comics and people who post asking others for "investment advice" are attacked since it doesn't align with their views.
  9. UPDATE : I won the appeal. Buyer lives in France.
  10. If I only bought comics I like, I'd end up with a bunch of Mcfarlane and Jim lee books from the early 90s only to be stuck with a bunch of over printed books no one wanted but me when it comes time to sell. Seems like a lot of guys here prefer it that way and are trying to have others think the same way they do
  11. Schomburg covers, WW 2 covers, Any Captain America Comics book, Superhero Timleys, Detective comics 1-100,168,225 Joker/Catwoman covers. Any pre code horror classic cover you can't go wrong on, Most anything before 1945. L.B Cole covers. All are safe bets, A lot of guys in the thread are trolling you. They don't like comics and investing in the same sentence.
  12. Invest in golden age/pre code horror
  13. karikhiar_0 Complete scammer, Buyer bought an Alpha Flight 12 CGC 9.8, then opens a return with a picture of an empty box, report to eBay and ebay told me not to worry, then they side with the buyer, now I'm out the book and the money. Complete crook. He needs to be added to everyone's block list
  14. Probably will never happen, they'd have to get rid of the 9.9 which I don't see happening. If it did, I see all 9.9's becoming 9.8s.
  15. CGC graders basically decide what your books are worth after they are graded since they are in on the money generating cash cow, If they think it's worth more than what you put down, they'll charge you more and you'll recieve the same service you selected but charge you more. So don't worry about the grading tiers.
  16. Just got this back, glad to be back in the club but this is just a place holder.
  17. There's a comic store owner here in the New England area that presses books, he does it for customers, few months ago my brother sent him a text that his customer was super pissed at him cause his expensive books came back with grader notes of Pebbling. Store owner couldn't figure out what happened. I just shook my head.
  18. Pressman have ink on their hands and then check a book off the skid and put the book back This is my arm after working in the red unit
  19. I wanna say Comic Den or something, he had a booth across from ours and I saw them on the wall, I finally walked over and had a look at them and said screw it, I need more ASMs. I also got an 11 but it only came back a 3.5. Keeping the 5 and 16 though for now.
  20. This thread filled with bad advice is getting comical
