NYCC 2023 - October 12th - 15th - Javits Center - New York, NY.
Kevin76 replied to Buzzetta's topic in Comic Events
It's unfortune nowadays that a lot of people just go to the show to simply get their books they bought online, to the show to get signed. They get some autographs, a print and/or toys, a t-shirt, food and then they are out of money. Its how it is now for a majority of those that attend. -

Covid isn't exactly the death sentence it used to be, take the mask off and live your life. -
Yes, Registered tracking is like "Scanned/Accepted ----5 days goes by of silence and no updates-------"Arrived in FL" Registered packages, someone needs to sign for it, every time someone touches it and it's get locked in a cage at every stop. It's slow and it sucks but it's the most secure, unless you're sending something to Heritage in TX, then it gets stolen haha

mcca5355 Buyer bought a Daredevil 226 CGC 9.8, Opens a return with "Item not as described/Photos" Proceeds to send photos of the book in the case and says "there's 2 small spine creases, not a 9.8" I spoke with eBay about his fraud/return abuse. Told me to report the buyer, they'll investigate this case and refund me on the return label and to further escalate the case when I receive the book back. I contacted him and told him he'll be blocked from future purchases and i'll be advancing this return case once I get the book back and that this is not how returns work. So if anyone is reading this who returns CGC books because they don't like how CGC graded the book, you are committing return fraud.

Stolen OA Alert - UPDATED Monday, May 6th 2024

That really sucks, I have some valuable art, if I ever sell them through Heritage, I'd hand them to them in person at a show. I know you being in Canada it isn't that easy to do. USPS employees are also watching out for packages being delivered to Heritage since they know it's more than likely something valuable being sent to them -
9.6 looks like a 9.8

Grader notes: Light bends to cover, Phantom staining no one can see except CGC -
Exactly, you're being charged on what the slabbed grade assigned is, not what it sells for raw when you send it in. If something happens to it, after you've been upcharged, you're the one holding the bag if you don't put enough coverage on it

Some graders just don't wanna give 9.8s, they'll find something wrong with it to give it a 9.6 -
Any more on-site grading?

This has great impacted attendance at cons -
Just recently sent a book in and I got up charged cause the grader found the book to be worth more than the value I put on the book, however, I noticed when I got the book in the mail and saw the invoice that came with it, The value coverage that I put down was not adjusted for what I was charged, I was charged double what I thought the value of the book was, Why didn't I get double the insurance coverage? If something were to go wrong, the invoice wouldn't reflect what the actual value of the book was since that is what I'm being charged 4% FMV for. (funny, how home contractors don't charge a FMV % when they remodel or add addition onto your house but CGC does to our comics) Also, The invoice only showed the price I originally paid, why wasn't what I paid adjusted on the invoice as well?

Registration isn't about the wrap, Registration is about the color alignment. -

Cover art quality.Manufacturing defect? ?

You're on the right track, register has nothing to do with it, it's all ink/water balance -
Cover art quality.Manufacturing defect? ?
Kevin76 replied to Petelome's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
This is clearly from what happens when the black ink is emulsifying, too much black ink, and too much water. It'll clean up and look crisp again once the ink and water is balanced. This is the lead press operator's fault. -
