  1. For the hobby... Chuck Rozanski Dave Anderson Steve Geppi Jon Verzyl
  2. glad you got your money back.
  3. Make sure nobody accidentally loads up this box...
  4. You can always have it pressed so the waves are gone and the book lies perfectly flat.
  5. Just bought a thermal printer for shipping. Many thanks for posting the coupon.
  6. I would much rather have them suspended an account than coughing up the four or five hundred dollars that is wrongfully theirs because of their stupidity. If they close the eBay account so be it, you would open another one. Same goes for PayPal.
  7. No, they don't. I make immediate payment withdrawal on a daily basis after an item sells. I've been doing it this way for years.
  8. Or you immediately withdraw the funds out of your PayPal account after receiving payment so if they do put funds on hold nothing is being taken out of your checking. If PayPal goes to a collection agency because your account is in the red for an extended period, it becomes a legal dispute.
  9. The bait and switch scam has long been a problem on eBay. Granted I haven't heard it quite this bad. So let me get this straight when the buyer opened up a dispute against you the funds in your PayPal account immediately went on hold, correct? Then he or she uploads the bogus tracking information for the hardcover inside... Upon the hardcover being delivered, the funds that were on hold were automatically sent back to the buyer... Interpreting the situation this way, the buyer has committed mail fraud and depending on if the parcel crossed state lines it could be on more than one count. Have you tried googling or running a search using the buyers supplied personal contact information to see who/what you are dealing with? You should carefully explain to PayPal what's gone on and how you are the victim of a scam. PayPal should side in your favor because as a general rule one of the two parties in their resolution disputes can't have it all -that is both the money and the item at the same time. In this case, the buyer now has both the comic you sold him and the money that was returned to him for the price he paid for the book which is still in his possession.
  10. the seller probably won it back. That or a friend. Not convinced the slightest bit that the book sold.
  11. Awesome report. It looks like it was a great show. Did the hotel have any additional ballrooms that could have been used if they wanted to expand? If they move it to a 2 or 3-day show, I will fly out there next year. I like conventions at hotels because it's easier to get around. Nice selections of early Actions and Wonder Woman's.
  12. It also wouldn't hurt to get Darren Adams at Pristine Comics opinion about going the hyped up eBay route. The Action #1 and All-Star #8 had great success.
  13. Mitch what are your thoughts on the show being on a Sunday instead of Saturday? Seems like for a one day show Saturday would be the better day. SDCC doesn't officially start until Thursday. Setups on Wednesday. That's 5 or 6 extra days on food, gas and hotels from a dealers perspective that adds up real quickly.
  14. Mitch would be great to get your opinion and thoughts on the con after attending.
  15. Robot Man hopefully you can get a ton of great pics. Should be good times.
  16. Also, I'd hold off on posting any more pictures of the Pep #22 until you decide what to do. You want there to be some suspense when the books are finally taken to auction. I said Comic Connect because just last year they just sold an 8.0 Pep #22 for a quarter of a million dollars. From what I can tell based on the small photo the front cover is in need of a definite pressing, and it could easily grade in the Fine or above range (assuming it's complete and the back checks out ok). You're talking six figures if you do your right due diligence. Another thing you may want to consider is how they plan on paying you out. I'd add how you want to be paid out to the list of criteria I posted earlier. Depending on where you live you might want them to pay you out in a series of payments as opposed to one lump sum to maximize American tax laws in your favor. Since this is your first rodeo and you're still here in the United States, it might be worth talking to a certified public accountant first before you decide to open up to anyone about selling it.
  17. Or MrBedrock aka Richard Evans of Bedrock City Comic Books in Houston. He's another mega-collector/dealer you could get advice from.
  18. 100% correct. You need to do some due diligence else you will leave thousands on the table. You will want to have the comics pressed, certified and sold through auction at the right time of year to maximize return. I would not rush this. Most of the auction venues can give you a cash advance if needed.
