  1. The latest Marvel 10d oblongs I have are April and June 67 I think: I'm having a lot of trouble with the site - it keeps crashing so I'll be back later.
  2. For non-Marvel 10d 'oblong' stamps, I've got a Jan 65 cover dated Charlton and an April 67 cover dated Archie in the files, with many examples in between: I own quite a few Charltons with the stamp as it goes. I'll be back with the Marvel dates - there's a lot to check....
  3. Cheers Beyonder. It's in the higher position which corresponds with the MJI and pence copy examples that I posted above. I don't see any evidence of obvious tinkering - extra / enlarged pinholes, or insert overhang - so I don't see any reason to suspect it's been made up post production. Maybe a pence cover found its way into the MJI production mix in error, seeing as how they both appear to have been manufactured with the same staple alignment position. Thanks for posting it, and look after it as it's potentially a unique, accidental thing of wonder (Send it in to CGC - that'll confuse them )
  4. Here's an oblong 10d hiding on a March 1967 Dell: ....and a shilling circle on a May 67 Gold Key:
  5. Isn't it. I love anything like this, that touches on how things might have been done back in the day, and where that knowledge might lead us in respect of the order of production where different versions exist in the same run. I'm not an expert on the stapling process, and haven't even seen a video of it in action, but you sort of would think that the placement distance between staples might always be the same for a run of the same issue. These examples show otherwise, which makes you wonder whether some books were stapled on a different machine - one for the main US copies, and perhaps a separate one for the junior subset books within the run - the pence copies, MJIs and 30/35cvs. I'm hoping @Stronguy will chime in - I recall him speaking knowledgably about the comic collation process I'll look out for any videos on YouTube - something like this, maybe (see around the 2:20 mark): All good fun.
  6. OK, I'm mucking about now but here are the 4 versions of Cap #210: The distance between the bottom of the top staple and the top of the bottom staple is more or less the same for the two 30c versions, but the pence and 35c junior subsets are, again, different with a noticeably lower placed staple. I'll leave it alone now until @Beyonder123 returns
  7. Something new.....? https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/515462-uk-price-variant-mark-jewelers/ I might pick a few more issues at random later, and see whether this is a one off or a more widespread thing...
  8. While we wait, I gathered six random issues of Cap #171 from eBay - 3 pence, 3 cents. Here's what I found: Maybe the pence copies had their covers attached using the same machine as the MJI copies, hence the greater possibility of a MJI going into a pence copy in error? Both are a subset of the main event, so that might make sense.
  9. I'm getting one from a French speaking Star Trek fan who was born in Tyneside. It's a Geordie La Forge
  10. How cool is that! Pence copies and MJIs. Two of my favourite things Inserts werent placed in pence copies by design of course, but things can happen in error at the factory, or later by post production manipulation. Can you show us a clearer shot of the bottom staple placement please Beyonder? A higher placement than on regular copies can be an indication that it is genuine and yours does indeed look higher if the staple is where I think it is: https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/215201-mark-jewelers-inserts/?do=findComment&comment=12264264 I'd post your copy in that MJI thread and get some more eyes on it. Also, do you remember where you got it? @trademarkcomics @Cpt Kirk @Stronguy
  11. I'll play please, FTG, thanks Fancy another duel guys? @Yorick @AJD
  12. Not many non-title spots available for that stamp, is there Robot. Good spot.
  13. Another nice example of the obliterator stamp there: Not as nice as my earlier TGK, but still nice
  14. 30th Century have just posted a few more sets Yorick, and you can see that the Uncanny Tales #7 set has a circle cut out of the K plate where the one shilling price would have been on the first use of the cover: The second and third uses of the cover show circular 15p / 25p prices, which correspond with the circular plate cut out, so you can see where the approach may have been to reuse the plate and just cut away what wasn't wanted / add new pricing and dressing: There must have been a 15p / 25p slug added somehow - I wonder if we'll ever see a plate that still has the amended pieces attached?
  15. Thanks Stephen. Glad someone around here has got some manners.
  16. Only if they can't remember yesterday, let alone what they wrote in 1862. McAlpine's shirt is eye catching, isn't it. Livened the thread right up.
  17. Are you bored, Rich? You're responding to five year old posts mate.
  18. Where's her bra strap gone? Where's his eyes gone? Proportionately, are that bloke's ears are as big as his toothbrush? I will reflect on these things.
