  1. I just found the link, ta. It's better than what's on the telly at the moment. Might crack open a Cherryade and a bag of Wotsits and settle in to watch...
  2. I'm not familiar with the Heritage bidding process Gad - when do we find out how much the damn thing sold for?
  3. I'd pay what needed to be paid, if I had the money. Knowing my luck though, I'd pop my bid in with moments to spare and get a 500 error.
  4. It's because both copies have a September indicia, but the cents copy has an August cover date. The pence copy has the cover date removed. So CGC use the cover date for the cents, and the indicia for the pence. Given that AF15 is arguably the most sought after comic in the world, you'd think they'd sort that one out. That sort of underlines the possible reluctance - someone is about to pay the most for a pence copy ever. So there will be nerves....
  5. While we're on the subject, it's about time that CGC tidied up the census so that the UKPV AF15 copies sit with the Cents ones as is the case with all other Cents/Pence entries. Their August / September split separates them and, to the unwitting, gives the impression that there are either no UKPVs, or that the books were printed separately.
  6. A lot can happen in two hours though. We know the pence copies will have a much smaller group of interested parties than the cents. Maybe those with the deepest pockets are waiting for a stand alone census highest copy. $191K is a hell of a lot of money to slap down on a book type that has historically been the poorer cousin, and which has - even now - a significantly narrower resale market than its cents counterpart. If the current bidders are speculators, I understand the hesitancy to bid it to within cents comparable prices. There's a big difference between $3K books and books in the hundreds of thousands. We'll see what happens in an hour and a bit, but maybe we need to see the buyers who really understand what it is, want it for their own collection, and are damn rich. A very small group, I would have thought. Tick tock....
  7. Lingers a bit, doesn't it. I like to think the kid is pissing into Adam's utility belt and the Director - a bit of a Joker - has spotted it and isn't calling cut on purpose.
  8. Yes. It's a travesty, what he's done to the show. Night Voord.
  9. I posted a letter from him in a 1986 DWB earlier in this thread. It surprised me to find out he was a long term fan, as his stewardship of the show has yet to betray even the slightest understanding of the lead character.
  10. Puts me in mind of the old local newspaper obituary notice joke - two pounds for five words: "Dave's dead. Car for sale"
  11. Being notoriously fond of the outside of the circle for the majority of my life, I never really got involved with any other Who people. Just correspondence with the then editor of DWB. I do recall reading a lot about people not getting on though. I haven't drawn anything for so long now I can't quite believe that was ever me, kneeling by the bed as an teen drawing those posters which, looking at them now, got progressively better. I loved it, but I do wish I got a bit more involved now. Your fanzine looks good. I don't recall seeing it for sale, but would probably have bought it had I seen an ad.
  12. Steady Mark, you've been clever twice tonight. Save some for the rest of the year
  13. It might be on Heritage's scanner. Still, only 3MIL isn't it.
  14. Yes, possibly. It does make you wonder though, if the book were to receive a jolt, what would happen to that rear left edge. And is that a piece of plastic in the second picture do you think?
  15. They didn't have it in Argos according to the sales clerk, Matt. It took the gloss off the whole thing for me.
  16. Oh Ken! I was two hours in and now I've lost the thread of it! It was just getting to a good bit too - the paint was really starting to dry. I'll have to watch it again now.
  17. Does that mean it's not a 9.6 anymore? I mean, should I cancel my planned 4MIL bid?
  18. Could be me eyes, but the top left rear appears to have an indentation that follows the shape of the inner well indentation: And there appears to be a rogue bit of plastic too:
  19. Here we go, time to log out and go and watch some dry paint stay dry...
  20. Yes…. as mentioned in my first post, I have discussed this with him extensively and I volunteered to take care of the poll for him. If it helps, Jim told me in a PM a while ago that he was really pleased that you were going to do the poll for him. I'm confident that he wouldn't mind me sharing that.
