  1. Oh, you've got to be Cheyenne Kidding me! It's Cheyenne Kid #34: I was talking to Ann the other day about how he likes to hide out. "He's just shy, Ann" I said. Besides, he lost in the dog test so he's probably a bit embarrassed and keeping his head down. Anyway, another tick in the picture book (no cover numbers remember)... ...and we're up to 375 pence copies of the 437 known to exist of the 833 projected to exist: Of the aforementioned 15 Cee Vees, 9 confirmed of the 41 projected to exist: The hunt goes on. But aside of the odd gate-crasher, no one gives a flying fart at a rolling doughnut. So this is my last post here. T-ra
  2. Afternoon I mentioned earlier that I managed to prise a TRIA #32 15cv away from a fellow collectors hands. Nice of him. Entombed it was.... Can't have that. Not least because of the strange oil mark on the slab face. Not sure what that is. Maybe they have a name for it? I don't know Anyway, very difficult to open this slab generation. You need some very specialist tools and equipment (see fig.1 below) Fig.1 Ah, that's better Look liz, I escapeded him @lizards2 (liz is fond of an escapement you know) Who wants a comic in a tomb? Can't read it can you. Or touch it. Sniff it. And look at this silly label: "10 cent & 15 cent copies exist". Factually correct of course, but what would have been wrong with "15 cent variant"? It works for every other publisher Anyway, now he's free from his 'can't fit into the box with the other copies' dilemma, we now have seven lovely 15cvs, all sitting together in one fifteen cee vee box: Yes, I know there's eight pictures, but I don't own the Fightin' Marines, do I. Poxy Fightin' Marines. Still seven out of eight aint bad. Eight out of nine is better though. Tah-daaah! So, eight fifteen see vees, all sitting in a box....
  3. Cheers Bob! Here's three more - not new finds, but new to the growing Dell Pence Evidence Box of Doom I do like the Tom and Jerry covers - so simple, yet so effective Cook my carrot baby
  4. Morning I picked up a copy of Dell Giant #43, to add to the collection of Giant Pence Ones. When you consider the title, the bottom left corner is quite an appropriate defect isn't it It must have been quite a big mouse too, when you consider how thick the book is...
  5. There are no Harvey pence variants, alas, but here's a nice L Miller shilling stamped copy Miller certainly got involved didn't they...
  6. I make a point of not being offended by small minded comments backwards david, so none taken. You're more than welcome to put that retort up your pipe, although I wouldn't recommend smoking it. I still like your new avatar
  7. Yes. And Penelope Keith the new James Bond.
  8. I spotted this error a while back, and saved the two images from eBay. At the comic fair yesterday, one dealer had a copy on his table. I smiled in recognition having just posted the above, picked it up, and there was a second copy underneath. One of each type. What are the chances?
  9. Some more here http://www.spiderfan.org/title/comics/spiderman_color_large.html
  10. Come gather around me. Space travellers surround me. Hark now to the ballad of Rocket Robin Hood. I may well confound you, astound you, spellbound you, with heroes and villains, the bad and the good. Watch now as our rockets race here from afar. For now, with our Robin, we live on a star. Three. Two. One. Blast off! Band of brothers, marching together. Heads held high in all kinds of weather. With fiery blasts, our roaring rockets rise, beyond the Earth, beyond the skies! At the side of Robin, take your stand, with the gallant leader of our band. Send a joyous shout throughout the land! For Rocket Robin Hood!
  11. Our favourite with a u is the original Spidey cartoon which has, hands down, and without question, the very best incidental music of any show ever seen before or since in the known universe. And possibly the unknown universe too. And it has things like this in it: And 'Dimentia 5'. Where do we collect our winners prize?
  12. A true one off Maurice, a true one off
  13. Not at all, it's not rocket science and you're opinion is just as valid. You're probably right about the wording - too much for the label probably That's probably how it will remain. For me, it's less about the impact on the worth of the comic and more about accuracy / consistency. People were fairly united in their view that MJI's don't appear in Canadians. Now CGC have muddied the water. No one dies of course, but there's nothing wrong with precision in these matters, if the knowledge is already out there. I would prefer for CGC to be accurate so flagging this up to them gives them a chance to make a note in their procedural bible so that future books are correctly identified too. It's not realistic to expect the graders to appreciate every nuance, but if you don't help them in situations like this by bringing it to their attention, they can't learn / improve. @ADAMANTIUM Mark - you love a call to CGC - see what they say mate. I'm not paying international rates
  14. Not sure RCheli. Blue doesn't fit the bill in my view: A book with a MJI which is in place legitimately, but against design, can't have 'no qualifiers or special considerations', can it? It exists because of a production error. The green label definition says: The description seems to focus exclusively on defects. Is an MJI in a book that it shouldn't be in a 'defect'? I don't think so. Unless they expand the definition of 'Qualified' to include anything that isn't 'normal' it doesn't seem appropriate either does it. As it stands, if these are the official definitions, I would go for blue label with a note - something like "MJ insert copy manufactured with a Canadian priced cover in error". Then add additional data to the grading notes to clarify, e.g. "MJI's do not exist in Canadian copies by design. Book appears legitimate however, so is judged to be a manufacturing error". What do you think?
