  1. Spine ticks, chips out of the edges. I agree. Good shout. It does have that suspicious halo effect doesn't it OK, we're all agreed. The books a dog
  2. I've just looked at the link and it's not clear if it's genuine. It doesn't look like a 9.6 to me either as it goes. Yes. The seller needs to clarify definitively. A staple missed during manufacture means no spine holes. A removed staple? There will be two holes left behind. Fairly obvious of course, so it should be quite easy for the seller to confirm.
  3. Personally I think a genuine manufacturing error enhances a book. It sets it aside from other copies. If I had a chance at, say, an ASM #129 without staples (I mean genuine manufacturing error - one with no staple holes on the spine) which was structurally a 9.6 I'd take that over a 'complete' 9.6 any day. There are stacks of them out there. Why not have one that's different from the rest? It's like a double cover. Sets it aside from the rest. My brother has a Hulk #5 with no staples. No staple holes and a tight clean holeless spine. It's wonderful.
  4. I mean, I don't want to go on about it, but Mr Self Proclaimed Pence Expert didn't even know when the last one was Krang! Last one what Titano? 'All Colour Comics' banner. Oh, we're still on that are we. Look, these so called experts are all the same. When it comes down to it, they don't know s*** mate. Ha! You're right again Krang, bang on the money with that... Yep. Anyway, you seem to be going on about it a bit too much for my liking. You're not a secret pence fan are you Titano? Are you, are you? Me!? Rubbish! No, no, not me mate. Not at all....no way. Hmmmmm... I'm not! Sure you're not, I believe you, 'Mr Closet Pence Appreciator' Stop it Krang, I'm not! You take that back, right now! Sure Ti-Pence-o, sure... Krang!
  5. Did you see that post a few back about the All Colour Comics banner wording Krang? I did Titano. Unfortunately. How boring was that? On the 'most boring post scale' you mean Titano? About ten thousand. Heh, heh. And it only goes up to a hundred. Do you think he'll ever learn Krang? Who? Get Firewood & Fry? Doubt it. Too much of a trumped up popinjay Titano. I make you right Krang, I make you right...
  6. Now, I like a pence copy and I like a printing error. But a pence copy with a printing error? Now you're talking Behold Gunsmoke Western #72, minus half it's ink Here he is next to his fully laden cousin: And here's a close up of the Kid: We know it's not a sun faded copy because: A) Red goes first B) The back cover has the same lack of dark tones So unless the previous owner covered all the red bits, stuck it in a window, and then did the back as well, it's a genuine printing error. Dark inside of course: Thorpe & Porter! Can we distribute it? Thorpe & Porter! Yes we can!
  7. I saw this on eBay Australia of all places. They're copies, but still may be of interest to a budding Kirby collector: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JACK-KIRBY-245-Xeroxes-Hanna-Barbera-BULK-LOT-Marvel-Comics-Production-Sheets/254117625064?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 In this auction you are bidding for 245 Xerox copies of original model sheet drawings produced by JACK KIRBY for HANNA BARBERA STUDIOS in 1979. That's 245 individual designs which show off Jack Kirby unleashed in his prime, 245 designs which showcase NEVER-BEFORE SEEN drawings by the most respected comic artist of all time. These are not available to be seen anywhere on the internet, and have never been included in any form of retrospective or publication about Kirby. This group was sourced from the personal digital files of an animator who worked with Kirby at HB studios, and have been reproduced by him as hard copies known as "Xeroxes". These reproductions were incredibly limited and I only secured the ones in this listing through a New York art dealer. Jack "THE KING" Kirby is the most famous comic artist to ever lived. He was the top name in comics for 3 decades straight, and is known as one of the medium's most influential creators. During the 1960s, he worked at Marvel, where he co-created the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Thor, the Hulk and Iron Man with Stan Lee. However, in 1970 he quit Marvel over credit disputes, and after performing work for DC, took up a job with Hanna Barbera studios as an animator. There, he worked on many model sheets and sketches for the televised shows. Jack Kirby passed away in 1994.
  8. I was never a fan of Byrne's art myself but he seems a nice guy, clearly steeped in comic knowledge and history. And what a studio! You have a great thread here guys. I know I only drop in once in a while but it's always full of entertaining stuff
  9. That Eerie looks great, and I give it an eight Good job it didn't look like poo really isn't it. From a grade rhyming perspective I mean.
  10. I can confirm that now is not the time to start fOggy. And what do you mean, funny...
  11. Don't worry, I guarantee it won't last long in the memory. Only a vague feeling of being cheated will remain, once the vacuous 'stories' have left your consciousness.
  12. Sorry, I seem to have spoiled the ending. She would. Look how good she was. Look what she created, virtually instantly, supported by the -script writer. The direction is only limited to the imagination of the lead writer and actor. In the case of Chibbers and the Witterer, both fail spectacularly.
  13. And we have to wait a whole year and then it starts again. So, two years minimum before we're rid of this horror. Why is life so unfair Comicopolis? One programme I've got. One. And it's been hijacked by the unthinking. The flairless. The mediocritous. Are these words? Who cares. The patient is clearly not himself. We need someone to save him. A Doctor maybe.
