  1. It was the fish. Ride the Tiger said they were dangerous and he was right. Don't trust the fish out of water. He'll kill your boards access just as soon as flap at you Look - see? Look what he did to the dog. They're a menace I'm telling you I mean, don't get me wrong. I stuck up for them to start with. I felt sorry for that fish getting duffed up, I'll admit it. And how do they repay me? By taking out the boards for 20 minutes. There's gratitude for you. Planned maintenance? Don't you believe it. It was the fish.

  4. Yes Sir Sergeant Sir! Am I too late? I never know what the time is on here. If not, $1,234.57
  5. Interesting stuff, thanks Voord. There was quite a preoccupation with the missing episodes back in the eighties when my interest was at its peak. Nice to be reminded of it, and to see it's still going on. I also attended an event yesterday - 'WiWbW' - run out of my front room. It wasn't very well attended alas, despite the punchy title. Yes, despite having the entirety of season 11 on the agenda, 'Wish it Would be Wiped 2018' wasn't the success I was hoping it would be.
  6. You're welcome. Yes, they had two different versions available so you had to buy it twice to get both comics if you wanted them. At least the DVD covers / packaging made it clear which you would get. Quite clever I suppose, as the likelihood of the purchaser being a collector was high, so I bet quite a few people had to double up. Ah, completism. Those were the days....
  7. Here are my three favourites this year The first one is chosen for it's cover, which I love, but also because it represents my current task to try and gather every single Charlton pence variant available to humanity. Cynthia Doyle, Nurse in Love #66: The second one is a book that's been on my watch list for 800 years - the Miller indicia Rawhide Kid #22 variant. I managed to train a few Jedi while I waited for him to appear: The last one is Marvel Super Heroes #104, pence copy. This book turned up as a pence copy despite 800 years of research indicating that it wouldn't. But it did. And I liked it
  8. SECRETS OF YOUNG BRIDES! "A honeymoon in Honolulu...a lovely apartment...a fancy car...take the mug for everything he's got, that's what I say. He's only going to cheat on you with the girl in the ra-ra skirt as soon as your backs turned anyway. May as well get in first. And he goes like a train too. What's not to like." "It's no use Mike....our marriage is no good!" "It's the red pyjamas isn't it Daphne. I knew it!" Things she loves: Houses, shrubs, power-mowers, station wagons, lesbian sex with Lucia Rivera next door, kittens. Things she doesn't: Her husband Dave. "But comma darling series of full stops what did I say?" "Oh, you lovable fool, you said too much in bold capital letters!" "What, is that all? Just 'too much'?" "Look, when I ask you how much you'd like to slip Daphne next door one...." "Please, Walt...don't go!" "You know I have to Darling. Mickey Mouse isn't going to draw himself you know" SECRETS OF YOUNG BRIDES!
  9. Another one from my Marvel Pence thread... ...and one from my Miller Indicia thread
  10. It doesn't show, alas Ha! Always good to get banned once in a while. Often, it show's flair and individuality I find. I don't think DWAS were keen on me either as it goes, as they hated DWB and that's where my art went. Damned by association. Nothing more amusing than fan boys falling out is there. It's one of the reasons I'm happy to be a loner. Have a great Christmas Mr. V. And be careful out there - you never know Who's around the corner...
  11. I think we can forgive him, given his other fairly good creations Foggy Thanks for popping in - I was a little disappointed that the posts heralding a brand new Miller indicia title didn't get any response. It was a real big deal to me, so deflating that it wasn't to a single other person seemingly. That'll teach me for liking what no one else does I suppose! Charlton pence copy anyone...? Anyway, thanks Foggy for your solitary input. Have a great Christmas mate
  12. Afternoon I'm still beavering away at Gold Key. Here's my latest find, Tom & Jerry #274, 6p copy: I love the colours and simplicity of these covers. It brings me up to 99 confirmed copies for Gold Key, across the 8 titles for which pence copies have been found. I'm planning some more intensive research next year on Gold Key. I find it odd that pence copies exist for only these 8 titles given how many there are (Mike's Comic Newsstand site lists 333 titles, albeit many are outside the current pence dates): In all my other pence threads (Marvel, DC, King, Archie etc) I've summarised not only the titles that have pence copies for the existing date range, but also those that don't. I gave up with Gold Key as there are so many, preferring to concentrate on what exists rather than spend time documenting what doesn't. But I'll get round to it. There are some gap scenarios which indicate that pence copies may not be found, and it may be that there are not many more left to find. Time as ever will tell. I have a new computer at last, which is lightning fast, so hope to expand on all my 'junior' pence threads more in the New Year. Have fun, if you're reading / following
  13. Thanks Herc. I save pictures of pence stamped copies when I see them and had this one already: It's on my to do list to try and establish who was the distributor for the Archie printed pence priced copies that this thread is about. There are examples of Miller and T&P stamped cents priced books so it could be either - or neither! In the early 1960's Miller liked to show they were the distributor, hence the 'LM' on the Charlton pence variants and indicia details / cover stamps on their Marvels. Similarly, T&P added their data to the Marvels to show they were the distributor. So it's odd that these Archies have no indicator on them, only the price change. It's the same with Dell, Gold Key and King though. We'll find out one day hopefully, either by me finding out myself or the person who knows finding one of my threads. When I joined the boards I was told that the 'old guard' would accept you only if you proved your worth. I kind of hoped that I had with my pence research, but none of them ever visit my threads. There may well be a member here posting who has the answer. If so, I hope they dive in one day
