  1. Stop mucking about Mark. This is deadly serious stuff. Ditko thought so anyway, God rest his cranky soul....
  2. Yes. Now take Sal, he knew a thing about consistency. You know what I mean don't you. Spitty mouth Sal. ...
  3. And whilst he does indeed look goofy in each picture, he also looks like a completely different person in each picture. How many goofy looking people are there impersonating Parker in McFawful land?
  4. This is the CGC forum moderation team don't forget. Making sense is not required. Nor is consistency, fairness, even handedness.....
  5. I agree 100%. Who on Earth are these two supposed to be: And what's with the eye and lips. Has he had a stroke? Hideous.
  6. Keep talking, I like the discussion. What are these 'other foreign runs' you speak of though, with their lower case 'non-US' 10c prices? And the overseas military would expect the US cents 'c' would they not? And why is it all so random? If a lower case 'c' indicates a market other than the US, who used a 'c', what does it stand for (got to be cents, surely) and isn't it a coincidence that the currency conversion is still 10. And why did this market order so haphazardly for such a short window? All we know for sure is that we have cents and pence. Don't forget, there are comics that do not have the 'bold font' US prices on certain issues (at least I have not found one) so the copies circulated in the US had the lower or upper case 'c's anyway. My thinking so far is that the pence were for the UK and the cents - no matter what font - were for US markets. Look at KCO here. There are no bold font copies for issues 91 and 96. So that can only mean that the 'tall c' font was intended for the US. Why not use the standard bold one (like with issue 95)? The evidence to me suggests that the presence of the pence font is the cause of the cents changes. And remember, I have overlayed the indica analysis fully yet - many bold fonted cents books have Thorpe & Porter distribution data on their indicias. I think it was all just a big mess up, caused by the pence books.
  7. It's great news for sure. I took my brand new car back to the showroom the other day as it had a full length crack in the windscreen when it was delivered. I got it back today and the crack is now only a few inches. I'm delighted. I had to pay the delivery fee, but great service overall I thought.
  8. Your avatar says it all Ryan I've been reading this thread and feeling frustrated. It seems to me that moderation and admin seem to go out of their way to upset people lately. I know this is just a chat forum, and we are all adults, but I think they sometimes forget that there are often decent honourable people at the end of these heavy handed decisions who may - just may - take offence at being effectively told off like they are some child. Meanwhile, other incessantly contentious posters wreak havoc on a daily basis without censure by sticking carefully to 'the letter of the law' whilst sticking two fingers up to the spirit of them. Rick - we don't know each other, and I'm not a buyer on these boards, but I do read your threads if only to look at all the lovely books. I think you've been treated shoddily, without respect* and it would not surprise me in the least if you decided to take your books elsewhere. But please don't - start up a journal instead *Cue Godfather gifs
  9. A bite! Thanks for chipping in Mr Duck. Let me turn the question back on you if I may. If the price for U.S. domestic was 10c, and the price for U.S. overseas was 10c, why would you need to change the font? It's the same price. Comics were produced as cheaply as possible back in the day - why would a printer change a price font if he didn't have to? There is no 'Canadian' font that I am aware of, as there are no Canadian only priced copies for this date range. There are only cents and pence Marvels. There are Canadian only priced Marvels in the 1980s - priced 75c to the US 60c etc - but no Canadian only priced Marvels exist in 1960 unless you know differently? Even if there were, and the price was also 10c (see historic conversion chart below), again, why change the font? 10c is 10c.
  10. Bless you Jim, you're a gent. And as you're the only person who liked the post......
  11. That's a lovely copy Tony, thanks! Charlton have their own thread now - you'll find many more of those in here
  12. Sorry guys! I wasn't ignoring you - I've been otherwise engaged. I'll pop back later with tea, biscuits and some suitably pointless thoughts
  13. Great stuff nesqrick! If you don't mind me asking, how many AUS issues do you have now? Must be nearly all of them! I still plan to get around to mapping them all on a spreadsheet - the dual month copies make it awkward but I have a plan. It would be good to know how many copies should exist, based on plotting the ASM date ranges against all titles published. Not sure if anyone has done that already / before?
  14. Thanks for the response and additional information @Scott =) I'm not looking for tweaks to the new journals myself as I find them unusable as I've said. It doesn't really matter how many clicks it takes to get to them, or how they are configured frankly. Those elements are just irksome. The real problem is the top level format which is awful for all the reasons stated in this and other threads. As a result, the journals are now disparate and invisible. What I want to know - and it looks like I'm not alone - is can the old ones be reinstated? If the answer is no, and the current position isn't going to change, please just say so and I will leave it. I've deleted my own new journals as they served their purpose and I don't want to encourage others to use them. I'm trying to do the right thing here Scott so please meet me half way with a reply. I think that the journals migration was ill conceived and the resulting position has diminished participation. That is why I am pursuing this - I assume CGC would not want new functionality to drive away it's forum members so I'm banging the drum to see if we can undo what appears to be a widely unpopular move. That question again: can the old ones be reinstated in one location in the old format?
  15. Have you ever built a fire pit? No, but I've escaped a money pit. You?
  16. The Thor 19 newsstand edition is weird - I'm looking constantly and I can't find one. The guy I go to locally who has long boxes of newsies can't find one either. Its not listed on Mile High, for what that's worth. It is odd isn't it. The purpose of this thread is to research and summarise the relatively scarce newsstand price variants - whilst doing so, we seem to have identified that the standard newsstand version is itself more scarce than it's variant counterpart - if not non-existent. It's funny, you could go out now and buy multiple AF15's if you had the money. Nothing scarce about those. But you cant find one single newsstand copy of Thor #19 to buy. It has no intrinsic value at all. But if you were a Thor completist, or wanted one to sit alongside the newsstand variants, how much would you pay for a copy? Bonkers.
