  1. Is it? Oh. I thought it was Captain Marvel. I tell you, I won't be going to see f^&*ing $$$$$ then based on that. It looks a complete load of Captain Marvel.
  2. It's a recent occurrence in terms of both the number of encapsulated books affected and its severity when it occurs I've never seen a first or second generation slab with newton rings. Can someone post some examples? Every example I see, it's the new case. The slabs I still own - all second generation - have none, and the inner and outer wells touch all over. The hundreds I used to own, all first and second gen, had none. Others in this thread have intimated the same. So for me, the problem is the new case and / or the new materials. I wish they would just fix the damn problem and not tinker. Stop tinkering, trying to minimise the problem, and fix it fully. If that means going back to old cases and or materials, just do it. If Barex isn't available anymore, if that is the cause, then find a different plastic that works. Maybe the plastics the other companies use. They don't seem to have newton rings, that I can see. This whole thing is tedious. Pages and pages of discussion, debate, excuses, explanations. Fix the damn problem. What is so outrageous about that? Do it, for the love of God, just do it. And stop messing the paying customer about with tinkering which we're supposed to be grateful for. @CGC Comics Just my two pence, as they say. You're welcome to disagree / correct me if I'm wrong.
  3. No fart scripts this time Harry, sorry. But I'll be back when I get a second wind
  4. In my experience, yes. Most UK collectors prefer cents over pence. Though I always try to draw pence related discussions to this thread, a debate on this subject ran here:
  5. I'll post some links tomorrow Paul as I'm on my phone Here's a list of five UK based online comic shops that I've had good experiences with Paul: http://www.comicanadirect.com/index.html#content=home https://incognitocomics.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=59 http://www.qscomics.com/ https://www.reedcomics.com/ https://www.whentitansclash.co.uk/index.html Good luck @picon3

  7. No wonder I'm confused. You said you were 'reactivating the debate ' in this thread and this thread has been debating the first appearance. You now say you are looking to confirm the first 'full and origin' yet include DD 21 which has neither. Why include and debunk a book that has neither of the elements you're trying to establish? When you've worked out what it is you're trying to say, let me know Jay.
  8. No, that's not clear to me Jaydog. I asked you what you were trying to debate and gave the two options. You replied what you weren't trying to debate along with more confusing points. Just tell me what you are trying to establish?
  9. Are you attempting to debate the first appearance, or the first full appearance?
  10. Mine too. But that's Kane and Romita oak. Andru inside though.
  11. But your assertion that a cameo cannot be considered a first appearance is an opinion. -DLS.
  12. Yes. My dinners ready. But I may return later, as it looks like your debunking of DD21 is opinion based, not fact based. And it seems to stray into the 'cameo isn't a first appearance' debate. Bit like Hulk 180 vs 181 for Wolverine. Depending on how the wife's cooking is tonight, "I'll be back" -GM&I.
  13. What sort of thing are you looking for Paul? Silver, bronze, high grade, low? Any particular titles? Logic suggests so. Once they've solved the Newton Ring problem I plan to take my pence Spideys along. I'm sure there will be many UK collectors thinking the same. Time will tell. It may be that UK collectors mainly take their cents copies in though. It would be great if we suddenly saw an upsurge in pence keys. Pence slabbed books you mean? Not that I know of. I can list out the usual UK dealers but I'm sure you've checked them out already?
  14. Dan Slott dissents from the looks of it. And he wroted it and everything.
  15. I dare you to change the thread title to 'The Amelioration of Newton Rings'. Go on Sqeggs......do it!
  16. Not to mention shifting and flipping a lions head. I think the artist here, pressed for time and talent, has mistakenly interpreted the original illustration. In the original, Kaanga's right hand is clearly grasping the tusk, with his fingers OVER the top and his thumb beneath. Mr artist has not paid a lot of attention and thought his hand is grasping the tusk, fingers beneath, thumb on top, making the thing even more awkward. Yeah, right! If he's still alive, and out there reading this, Mister, your artwork sucks mate!
  17. Yes, me. Their full response is below. The extract from it which deals with the fix says: Behind the scenes, we are constantly working to improve the CGC holder. Most recently, we have made a slight modification to the inner dimensions of our standard holder to accommodate the increasing variety of comic book sizes and paper stocks. In our testing, this minor modification was also shown to reduce the presence of the rainbow effect for many books. We did not want to share our findings until our thorough testing was complete, and now that it is, we are pleased to report that these modified holders have been fully integrated into our encapsulation process with very positive results. Only time will tell if this 'most recent' change will reduce the presence of the rings.
  18. It's about time you got off your lazy arse and logged in Jim. Slacker.
  19. I like the way the redrawn cover bends his knee, and her arm, to get both limbs in shot. Cracking book
  20. Oh, and I'll let someone else have a crack at 'his masters teeth'. Only fair.....
