  1. Hello Peter, I see no one has dropped by yet. Your pictures aren't as clear as they could be but I see what looks like a raised spine, as if the book has had something heavy pressing down on it about half an inch away from the spine at some point. I think I see some creasing at the spine centre too and a hint of a crusty staple. So with the small tear, and those other flaws, I would be looking nearer a 4.5 to 5.0. Maybe if you posted better pictures, or scans, you might get a few more guesses? Good luck!

  3. Nice. I like the way you say "most of my non-graded copies" which implies you have more non-graded copies and, presumably, graded copies too. So lots of copies. And not a fan of Direct Editions I see? You've got a hundred of them too, haven't you
  4. Just caught up with the latest installments - great stuff Andy! I love the colours and the fact that the speech bubbles retain a certain size regardless of the volume of wording within them. Cool
  5. That's funny. Actual mods are role specific - e.g. cgcmodX - and you can't ignore them. There are some specific limited cases where I've granted TO REGULAR MEMBERS some extra permissions that are NOT moderation for the general forums, but are purpose specific. Those specialized groups don't have the power to remove posts from general boards, or warn users, or any of that, but they do have specific power to do certain things in sub-sections of the site. One example is the guys who run the VCC. Another example is when you and I were messing around with other ways to support your comic grading tournament, I actually created a group to give you control of a sub forum dedicated to that. I think as a result of that YOU currently can't be ignored because of those limited "mod-like" powers. You secret mod, you. I think I can fix that. BUTM is a secret Mod!? Sacre bleu! Now you've got that off your chest Arch is there any chance - any chance - that you could answer the two questions I've put to you at least four times now through the various channels available to me on these boards? Or have you got me on ignore? Here they are again: Now that strikes are out of the window, can you explain the new boards Moderation process please, specifically in respect of how points accumulate and lead to suspensions / bans etc When a member is serving a suspension, would it not be fairer to allow them to challenge the suspension via the 'Request a Moderation Review' channel rather than make them wait - potentially unfairly - for the suspension to end as is currently the case? Thanking you kindly @Architecht
  6. Weird. We'll take a look at this too. This seems to be fixed now @Scott =), thanks. The new link preview style looks much better too.
  7. Ross Andru was my favourite Spidey artist so I was intrigued by the post title. I used to collect all variants but stopped a while back and don't really follow the latest 1:76,000 shenanigans any more. I think the idea of a posthumous Andru homage is good, as he was always underrated in my view and it's a nice nod to the past for those of us who were there. But the choice of image is poor as it hardly represents his best work and is not an iconic image like, say, the recent Romita Goblin ASM variant. I recognise it instantly as Andru but I doubt many would and the lack of reference to him could mean this will pass many collectors by. Overall, it comes across to me as another cheap excuse for a money making variant and does little to honour the memory of the artist, if that was the intention. On a separate point, looking at the cover image you posted, I wonder why they still put 'Direct Edition' on the barcodes now seeing as newsstands stopped years ago and, therefore, the distinction is unnecessary?
  8. Ah, bless you liz. Give us one each. I feel about as popular as a fart in a spacesuit most days here, so your support is appreciated
  9. It's all gone Peter Tong @Scott =) Go kick some Invision derriere for us
  10. Aha! Before my time @bababooey I like the spoon filter idea. As long as all offending words were in the 'blocked' list, that could work for those of us who feel a good expletive can enhance a point What do you think of these here confused and sads ?
  11. Thanks for all your responses @Scott =) ! You are prompt, professional and informative I did select your @ prompt from the drop down list. Hope it works this time
  12. Sorry Arch, but I've found another problem. In my 'Marvel Pence Price Variant' thread there is a post in which I include a link to my 'L Miller' thread: The thread link has been replaced with a shot of the CGC title menu. The 'CGC' wording and functions appear to 'activate' when you hover over them, but then do nothing. Very odd. I have other examples if you need them. Don't forget my other points in the preceding posts here if you happen across this. Cheers @Architecht
  13. Indeed. Do you think it's natural progression when artists styles change dramatically, or a conscious effort to be different?
  14. Cover by JIM LEE and SCOTT WILLIAMS https://www.newsarama.com/34686-wildc-a-t-s-leads-a-ws-return-in-wildstorm-a-celebration-of-25-years-first-look.html
  15. ....it's not bolded out in the actual post, so I assume you haven't been flagged?
  16. One other point, has @Architecht stopped working? In my last post it didn't appear as a blacked out block. I've taken a pic before posting this to check again:
  17. Yes, they are queued for approval so that we can make sure to only include frequently asked question in the resource, as opposed to inquiries that are too specific. It looks like your posts were deleted, though. I think that's because someone who normally handles "Ask CGC" (as opposed to ask moderation) saw those questions in an approval queue and removed them as inappropriate for "Ask CGC". I'm following up, but for the moment your questions are gone. Sorry about that. Normally they would have sat there in an unapproved state until I could review (or another admin) and decide whether to approve and answer them, or remove them. @Architecht Hi Arch, Did you follow up / find my two questions? If they are lost, are you able to answer them from the post in the 'I hate the new boards' thread? Thanks I noticed that the recent update did a little more than Dena indicated in her advance downtime warning post. Not sure if this has been flagged already but the site is now very red, especially on a mobile: I liked the previous black/red/silver heading style and thought it looked quite classy. Now the site looks like a coke can. Also, I'm surprised to see the new spread of 'like' options and thought that might have been a significant enough change for you to have flagged in advance or at least explained? You don't need to be a genius to work out what they are but I don't recall anyone asking for this change and I seem to recall that you once said you would not introduce 'negative' response buttons as they could encourage hostility. Is the 'sad' supposed to indicate sadness as in "sorry your cat died" or could it be used in the "you are a sad case" vein? You know how board members contrive to do the opposite of what you intend so this could easily become the recognised way of disliking a post and a way of ganging up on someone? On a technical point, do all the options count as a 'point' towards a members reputation score? If someone is 'confused' by a post, or finds it 'sad' in the negative sense, does it make sense for them to form part of a users reputation? Please, give us a little explanation of why you have taken this path unilaterally (and I only say that because you have recently asked people to give their views on moving sub forums etc) Finally, could I cheekily invite @rob_react to like or perhaps be confused by this post? I'm dying to see "rob_react reacted to this" As ever, "release the hounds"!
  18. Never mind. These things happen. I was just after some clarity on the new moderation process - points replacing strikes leading to suspensions etc - and your / admins view on whether it would help to keep a channel open to suspended members to challenge during the suspension period. Cgcmod0 was going to look into that for me if you can find him/her. Or it's all in my last post in the "I hate the new boards" thread if you can bring yourself to go back there
