  1. There are no specific records that I'm aware of but anything from 2 to 10% would be a reasonable estimation in my view. Most UKPVs are freely available so it doesn't really matter. Some are rarer than hens teeth though, and not always the obvious early ones. And it likely differed by publisher. Grade is a thing of course, too. The only thing that really matters is what is actually out there. It may have been 10% back in the day but if they all went in the bin......
  2. I managed to nab #1 to 7 off ebay in the week. I bid twenty quid, expecting them to go much higher, lost, then got a second chance offer. Quite good for twenty quid I thought. Lots to read. Some of them aren't online so I'm hoping for more snippets
  3. They're quoted in the order you select them Rich, not the date order Nice. The copy I used to populate my Hiatus #1 Stamp table was a 5 too. Nice Hiatus #4 relevant page here from a Fantasy Domain fanzine that I lost and then won on the Bore. Note that 6% figure:
  4. Hey Joe, where are you going with that gun in your hand? Duh-dun, da-dun-dun! Now, the purpose of that banner is for you to add it to your signature line. That's the wording / pictures, if you have them enabled, that appear at the foot of members posts. What you do, is: 1. Highlight, right click and copy the URL link from your Registry Control Panel as below (The UBB works on this forum, the other one, other forums): 2. Go back to the CGC Forum, and from the top left menu, select: Forums My Settings Signature Settings 3. As per the example below, paste the Registry link into your Signature: 4. Once saved, your Registry Banner will then show at the foot of each post that you make. I don't have one myself, but others do and it looks like this: Hope that helps - let me know if you have any questions
  5. FYI, if you haven't already seen it: https://www.cgccomics.com/international-comics/
  6. @CGC Mike Mike, it's not like wytshus to have missed this and he hasn't posted since the 7th. I know it's the weekend, but is everything ok? You usually announce the forumite winners at the same time.
  7. Don't worry paq. Only 1 in 58 of my attempts at humour resonate with more than two people and a dog here. That one was in one of the other 57.
  8. For as much as it pleases the wider participants of this, the 'Summer Newsstand Edition 2023' grading contest, once again run most ably by the former board member 'comicdonna', lower case c, who, as stated in an earlier post in the Winter Direct Edition 2022 contest thread, now oversees this, the 'CGC Comic Forum' under the new guise of 'CGC Mike' - Mike, note, not Michael - that would still be too stuffy and business like - following his aforementioned change of career from lumberjack to administrator of justice and control on this comic chat board - which is still considered an odd choice of career change, when one stops to think about it, but, each to their own and, as the saying goes, a "change is as good as a rest" - I thought it best to follow the long standing board contest tradition - namely, the statement to the wider group that one's grades are 'in' - by doing in fact, just that, and stating through the medium of this 'post', as which they are commonly referred in online parlance, that, after long and careful consideration of the images provided by lower case comicdonna, but in his now official guise of 'CGC Mike' - and with some consternation, truth be told, given the rather horrifically difficult first five books of this the opening round, my opening grades can now be considered by the common considered majority to be, in fact, 'in'.
  9. We've matched his five year ASM tenure Reggie! The tenure that defined my youth. For me, as I've said many times, the definitive portrayal of the definitive cast.
  10. Oh right, it does from memory. Maybe he'd like to be reunited
  11. Hooray! You made it Pino. Well done
  12. State definitively that, whilst delivered via the newsstand distribution system, pre direct comics were not called 'newsstand editions'. State that they were just comics, stand alone, and that to call them newsstand editions retrospectively is incorrect. State that the only legitimate use of the term is where an alternative direct edition exists (as per CGCs labelling approach). Cement that understanding in. It's factual, and avoids opening any doors to misuse.
  13. The same crowd who label 'foreign' reprints as first appearances? You've acknowledged there's a problem Greg. You can either educate people away from it with the right wording, or towards it with the wrong wording. They may take note, they may not. All that would matter to me, in your shoes, would be that I was on the right side of the argument, and that I was using the facts. The facts are that the term newsstand only gained the significance it holds today when the direct editions arrived. You're opening the door to the legitimate use of a term that wasn't in play to a group of books that stood alone. People may use it to deceive, as today Newsstand (often inacurately) means scarcity, means money.
  14. You're adding to it, by calling them newsstands in your educational video. They'll follow your lead, and call pre-direct books newsstand editions.

  16. Found this: "Even though almost every comic book sold prior to 1979 was technically a newsstand edition, CGC will only identify a newsstand copy if a direct market edition also exists." https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/513391-cgc-now-recognizes-newsstand-editions-and-multi-packs-on-cgc-label/#comment-12531668
