  1. I believe it is Metaphysique 3 and the page is a stand alone page separate from the 24 page story. Very nice.
  2. I was so fortunate. A great man honestly a good soul. I think he’s a giant in this thing of ours. He’s near the top for me.
  3. Reread through the beginning of the thread. Above all an incredible story how this terrified piece of art comes to the eBay market. The provenance The family connection The final winning bid All the contributions from you guys on so many points of interest. I think there’s more here for this thread to accomplish . You guys are great I enjoy all the varying perspectives. Keep at it lads....and ladies? Art is for the soul art is for everyone
  4. “And I certainly don’t use the idea of a family inheritance to justify the bigger purchases.” I’m afraid I’m not as strong as you John E.
  5. Oh yes that’s a good one. Great you bring this one up!!
  6. Yes “Ant” made a point about not allowing for a pickup. Honestly for $83,100 that is the only way I would have done the deal. In “Ant’s” defense it’s understandable he doesn’t want to lose anonymity. He is in possession of other art (can’t wait) and may have security concerns. But there are ways to do this. One way I’ve picked up art is to arrange an exchange at a public place (bank lobby) safe for both and doesn’t betray where the seller resides. My 2 cents.
  7. That’s a great question. I think it will have an affect on the desirability of that splash. It will be contested fiercely I feel certain. As for the buy it now that is a disturbing trend and eBay lousy at protecting a buyer. I am happy for Buscema’s legacy that a mind blowing 30 character pen and inked JB masterpiece wasn’t sacrificed for $3995. The grandson certainly was ill advised on that first attempted sale. Remember The Wolverine wraparound cover? that “sold” for 25k I think and the seller refused to honor the sale and the cover sold privately. You can get your heart broken on eBay.
  8. Great insight Scott. I met JB at SDCC shortly before he passed away. We talked and I showed him a Silver Surfer Page I owned. “I did that” he said taking the page from my hand. I watched him amazed as he went back in time examining his work. We talked about Dan Adkins who inked the Page. JB was kind and considerate. It was a thrill for me. So sad when he passed but his legacy is assured. I guess for me the biggest thrill is that Johns grandson benefited from the sale. This was nuts to watch an auction like this go down on freakin ebay. A great piece of artwork.
  9. You’re obviously an artist I admire greatly Scott. What do you think of the work John did on these individual characters and the piece as a whole? From an artists perspective.
  10. He said he canceled the first sale and the buyer was “understanding.”
  11. John Buscema’s maternal grandson (that’s how seller identifies himself) sells this piece on eBay. I tracked it all week and $83,100 the final hammer this afternoon. What say ye oh merry CGC Marvelites and avid Buscemerians?
  12. Birthday Bump for the great Jack Kirby
  13. Happy Birthday Jack Kirby. Love you sir! Thank you for this and for everything.
  14. Enter promo code 2 + 2 = 5 and get a Veal Madams Batman finished like as published circa 1970. Signed by the artist to Aldo. Order now guaranteed No Surprises.
  15. I read very few comics today unless pimped to me by knowledgeable comic friends. I always look for art from stories that meant something to me. That’s where I start. However I love art for art sake, so I have pursued pieces based on their sheer beauty.
  16. Yes exactly. If you’re that collector saying one thing but doing the other it catches up to you.
  17. We call this the Nick Cage... When a full set of art hair suffers receding hairline and male pattern baldness.
  18. The detail in that commission was breathtaking.
  19. I have found the solution. Felix it’s time. Tradd we need you buddy. SSB 6 or a 200 page four part SSB miniseries or annual World class event. Art for art sake speculation be damned If not I’ll continue to enjoy the pages displayed for public admiration.
  20. One fella sold 3 pages out of an ASM book on eBay a few years back. I thought I would get them for $2-$3k tops but I was way short. If multiple pages of a sequence came up 3-5 pages I would go full out to win them all.
  21. I figure I’d let you go for McFarlane my friend, I’ll go for Larsen and maybe one day you’ll sell me one McSpidey!!!
