  1. First night Update McSpidey showing strong at $13,250. The Kane DD 80 Cover at $3600. The Romita Thor Cover $3,000 and Cap 102 page $1,800. The cool McCrea Hitman cover at $300. Any surprises so Far?
  2. Wow this one is sublime. First time I’ve seen it.
  3. And a special nod to Walden Wong winning Favorite Inker (over another’s work) and Most Adaptable Inker (over another’s work). Anyone have an example of Waldens inks over another artists pencils?
  4. Well deserved award winners all. Awesome to see All In One winner Liam Sharp get the nod for inking his own work. I’m showing a Jaguar God Page I got from Liam way back when to honor him. Does anyone have an example of Liam’s DC Green Lantern 2019 work? Also the Joe Sinnott Hall of Fane Inductees All well deserved. John Romita Sr. Bernie Wrightson Bob Layton Jr. Congrats to all the winners and those mentioned in the running. Some great talent for consideration.
  5. John Carter Warlord finally won me over. His art was “different” and I didn’t react positively to his covers on the rack. Then I saw Green Lantern work also. Wow!
  6. My brother loved BWS and I didn’t get Conan at all. John Buscema Savage Sword was my introduction to the Barbarian. Once I started reading Conan the Barbarian Frost Giants Daughter and Elric issues I was blown away.
  7. Moebius (super heroes) Sal Buscema (Spider-Man) Jeff Foxworthy
  8. Jeff completes a stunning portrait of the late great Joe Sinnott. 🍇 + 🦍
  9. That’s encouraging news David. I’m out of the comic scene and pricing keeps me from jumping back in. Art offers new possibilities everyday. Hang on to your art. Enjoy what you have. Cheers 🍇 🦍
  10. Yes hindsight exactly right. I spent $4500 on an large size interior page in 1997. I had to really scrape that together. It was a lot of money for a family man with two kids. It seemed very expensive to me. I think for those of us old enough and looking at art from 1990-2000 you had to believe that in the future you would look smart by spending and holding on to the art. Then you had to find a way to get the $$$. We lament those lower prices because if we had put our foot to the pedal some of us could’ve retired already. And newer collectors getting in to this thing see some of those art catalogs of the past and can’t believe we let a McFarlane sail by at $2k. I see an old movie and a steak dinner cost .25 cents on the chalkboard. Whatever era you live in things seem expensive or not based on your ability to earn and the various hands out that demand those earnings I.e mortgage, etc.
  11. I loved these one offs with Fat Freddy and his cat. This is a nice example.
  12. As you anticipated my response and disarmed me 8-Mile Eminem v Papa Doc rap battle style, I’ll concede your point on worth v value as the picayune distinction will be judged by those who feel Vodou is nitpicking or brilliant. The admiration and love for art should come from the feelings the art inspires within your heart mind body and soul. Worth = market gets $1 for A but $2 for B Value = what the art means to you personally “And F this battle, I don’t wanna win, I’m outtie. Here, tell these people something they don’t know about me.” 🎤
  13. That’s a stunning page. You make a great point. I maybe oversimplified or generalized published vs. unpublished. My intent was to get BuraddoRun as a new collector to realize that in general a published page would command more. Now the examples you site show how complex comic art collecting can be. And BuraddoRun I can say Brian is one of the collectors I respect the most on the boards. Just look at that unpublished Byrne page. I would treasure a work of art like that. Art for art sake♥️ So do your homework before you lay down your money for art. There’s lots to learn. Buy what you love. Learn to appreciate the art and the artists who pencil and finish (ink) the art. 🍇 + 🦍
  14. I had a few unpublished pages but sold them off as I focused more on published pages I wanted. I think they are cool. For whatever reason they weren’t used, it’s still cool to see the process. Unpublished pages are worth far less $$ wise then published. I mention that only because you said you were new to collecting OA. However art for art sake is always something you should keep in mind. I’ve seen beautiful covers that were never used by the publishers. There is a thread somewhere I believe that points out some of these. This is a thoughtful post early on in your CGC “career.” Welcome Buraddo Run. Grape Ape 🍇 + 🦍
  15. Al Williamson Frank Frazetta 1950 John Wayne Adventure Comics 3 Page 3 John Wayne being erased (canceled) by USC and his name taken off John Wayne Airport (absurd). Will that be a motivation for any John Wayne fans out there to buy this? My guess it’s the artists more than the subject matter that will drive bidding. But this is a slice of Americana to be sure.
  16. Kamandi 9 Page 11 Jack Kirby Mike Royer Kamandi in all six panels. A good solid page for the Kamandi lovers. A nice consolation for those who don’t win the Kamandi splash over at HA.
  17. John McCrea Hitman 12 Cover 1997 John’s an extremely talented artists. C-Link gives you this pic and no write up. Nothing. If the consignor is out there contact me. On your behalf I’ll provide a proper write up and speak to them before the auction. What are you paying 10% for?
  18. Captain America 102 page 17 Jack Kirby Syd Shores 1968
