  1. Like me you probably appreciate all kinds of artistic expressions. I credit my dads influence but also glad I’ve exposed myself to many genres. We went to San Francisco years ago for an Leonardo DaVinci exhibit. Talk about human anatomy!!
  2. Still look for these remaining pages for you. Please CGC community if you come across any pages PM Jordysnordy. We all know what it’s like to have a goal in this great hobby: Helping others feels great too!!! BUMP
  3. That is amazing. I have no artistic talent but my dad was a very good painter and sculptor. Sadly all his paintings were lost and or stolen when he died in 2004. sixteen years later I was searching the backpack he had with him when he passed away. I found a sketch he made the day he died. I didn’t know it was there until now. He was very ill at the time but it was a gift to find it. its a self portrait and though just a rough sketch from a dying man it resembles the excellent paintings he made when he was healthy and young. This was a cool idea for a thread Terry.
  4. Tom Mandrake does the inking. It’s a later piece 1993. I wouldn’t auction this piece as I think you’ll actually get less with commission fee deducted. My educated guess is this is maybe $750-$900 Sell it privately. Or offer it CGC but in the Comic Marketplace section for art. Has the potential buyer made you an offer? You can PM me and I’ll objectively help you try to negotiate a fair deal! Good luck Mike aka 🍇 🦍
  5. An iconic image. A jaw dropping pose. Dave Stevens one of the coolest guys and his art will always stand out as top shelf.
  6. Yes kindness goes a long way. In my friends situation the seller was “abrupt” in turning down a $15 cut. This angered my friend. So that annoyed me too. I told my friend “don’t buy it then.” My goal is to always walk away peacefully if I can’t get a deal done. I personally spent six months last year getting to know a collector who has a piece I’ve been trying to get for 17 years. Finally I gently presented my interest and the collector shot me down. He was abrupt, forceful even. No! Not going to sell. We had been exchanging compliments over our two collections to that point. I was taken back by the “tone” of his response. But I’ve learned not to burn bridges. I thanked him and complimented a different piece of art he had. Maybe one day he will change his mind. If not I respect that. No matter how much we might want something we’re not entitled to it. So if it’s available pay the sellers price if it will make you happy. You May be sorry if you let something pass you really wanted. You make a key point about paying up and laying the groundwork for a future deal. There’s times where I’ve asked a seller/dealer “let me get you (buy at an agreeable discount) this time and I’ll pay full on the next one.” Then I keep my word and pay full price on the next page no barter no questions asked. Builds strong buyer seller relationships.
  7. Vodou I know where you’re going with this. You’re not wrong. I recommend not biting your nose to spite your face also. A dealer back in 1998 wanted $140 for a page. My friend offered him $125 and the dealer wouldn’t budge. Overnight my friend regretted not buying and next day offered full price. Already sold to another. Six years later I found the page again and negotiated a deal for my friend. It cost $550 now. A few bucks more for something you really want is always worth it.
  8. I don’t disagree I think the price is on target. I just guessed that a collector would round up to $20 K to say they have an ASM cover. I would never argue with the Cab....ahh never mind —some things are best left unsaid.
  9. Michael I thought it would hit $20 K so it was not to far off.
  10. Stats don’t bother me for background like a panel of buildings etc. if a major character is a stat panel it does put me off buying/ unless the original art is there underneath.
  11. Often you can see the original art through the stat or by lifting the stat up off the panel.
  12. I thought the Avengers 50 Page was a great bargain. However you scored on that Submariner page!
  13. You might be right. It didn’t bother me on this one but there are times when damage will influence my interest. Excellent point you make to consider!
  14. Too low I thought. It’s a beautiful cover. That one was a good buy no doubt.
  15. The trend I am starting to see is seller + auction house not doing basic homework. Romitaman the benefactor. As for the aforementioned Marvel Tales Cover. How does that come to auction and the seller doesn’t know what they have? Late acknowledgement of all Romita artwork I believe came too late to boost the sellers fortunes. Anything Romita worked on that I’m not 💯 % sure of I gotta ask Mike!!! Wow good for the buyer.
  16. I had it around 25-30 K so good for the seller. I really liked it.
  17. More then 7 K But you have exactly the right attitude about it. A person could go nuts playing the would’ve should’ve game.
  18. The best value buy with foreseeable $ value growth was the ASM Treasury back cover with Spidey and Superman and maybe that FF 95 cover. I think? Who knows??? The hammer on the KJ page was stupefying. This hobby is electrifying and so rewarding. Or is it maddening??
  19. Yes! Westy the only thing I can add is if a particular artist’s work does go down in value, you won’t be able to tell if that artwork is for sale under: San Mateo Coollines Val@Steve The Donnelys Los Bros #Letmeaskmybrother@chopshop/addpasteup#Inquire
