It's a 9.4 at absolute best. Certain books attract a certain "uneducated" in Comics crowd. Precisely the rubes the scammers target.

Correct or an inside person doing various sundry and possibly haphazard manipulations... Folks the single most important thing to recognize is that all the Gold Key/Western Comics in my current signature were submitted by me. To avoid them ever from falling into the hands of scammer. When the sad time comes they will all be cremated with me. Rest assured folks there will be no switcheroos with my Little Stooges books.

Cert numbers are in effect generated the day the submissions Electronic Form is filled out. I for one have done it as much as 2 months prior to a con in my prep for dropping books off. Example in 2021; I filled out the on-line forms in August but did not drop them off until Oct at NYCC. Those books had much lower cert numbers than the ones on forms I filled out early in Oct 2021. Not a stretch to think the the perp was merely lining all ducks in a row and filling out the paperwork in advance -- especially given the scam was a proven & predictable thing by then. Was it smart? Probably not, but their ilk becomes more and more brazen when they feel assured they will get away with their acts. Simply criminal and human nature.

Based on the Comics being ones continually targeted by Speculators and Flippers it's highly logical that they have. Probably impossible that it has not already occurred. Just a matter of digging up the bones.

This is 100% correct. We are actually in full agreement. "Historic" first ? The scammer(s) identified the sweet spot of supply, demand, value threshold and those who primarily look at label/flip and not the book. You should have been playing the great game in your avatar (via MAME or the like), it would have been more productive.

Therein lies a huge problem. The only way to know, since trust in CGC is on loose footing, is to open the slab. However in doing so it can be claimed it's not the same book. There are ways to prevent that, but no mechanisms AFAIK are currently in place. I'm kind of glad nearly all my above $500 FMV and all my 1.5K+ FMV books were self submitted. Not sure I'll feel that way if the market has imploded if/when I decide sell comics for the first time. One thing for certain I'm glad is that 95% or more of my Comic related spending the past 24 years had been on Published Original Comic Art.

Thread lock or removal (take screen caps folks) will give the whole thing credence, speaking louder than any statement. Right now this thread serves as a safety valve for CGC. It would actually be great thing if lock occurred. Someone here with the right contacts and skills might get annoyed enough to bring this in proper fashion to a "real" media outlet. From there it could snowball..?

Hi Microchip, There will be NO Response from CGC. Apologies folks for repeating myself but CGC will simply wait until this fizzles out and it will. If they do say something/anything then it will cost them money. They do not have a care at all with perception as long as you folks keep submitting and them Benji's keep rollin' in. It's a strict pump & dump for CGC's current parent anyhow, as soon as inbound cash sinks below their predetermined threshold they will sell CGC off.

Even though it is official US Public Record PSA does not acknowledge it. https://www.psacard.com/cert/0000001 PSA has literally been rotten the core since their first officially certified and slabbed card (see link above) yet they still have a virtual monopoly lock on the Trading Card hobby. As CGC is the PSA for Comics they too have no need to address this kerfuffle. Simply keep quiet rake them benji's in.

As I predicted no response today. CGC will do what you and I mentioned, simply let it fizzle out and it will! CGC will not change or do anything that will cost them a single dollar. Whereas if they say something/anything they might have to... @VintageComics - I'm correct on Prediction #1.

even if that is the case, CGC will ship the books back to the scammer who will then begin the game anew with a cohort submitting. Since CGC ain't going to change anything it will be nothing more than one-time blip to the scummers.
