The question you asked was is it a scarce book. Based on Census it is not. The mostly black background will keep 9.8 pop in check compared to 9.6's but if the book ever does become "hot" or "key" expect submissions thus population to sublimate as per the norm. It's common for Whitman Distributed Marvel's of the era to have smaller high grades pop's CGC Label CGC Total Avg. Copper's Heating/Selling Well on Ebay
MAY1979 replied to fastballspecial's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
As the market continues to settle down the time frame in which a book will stay hot is shrinking on the whole. If you have a hot book to sell, unload it quickly, even if not at absolute max FMV, to some rube/simpleton/novice/neophyte*, and if you are thinking of sending to CGC think twice as it could be cold by time you get it back which then results in wasted capital. Not to mention creates a glut of the same book for sale which outside of a historic bubble only hastens a price drop. * I say rube/simpleton/novice/neophyte as after all who else foolishly chases only hot books. Far less of those folks in the hobby since the bubble burst, as they continue to leave the faster a Hot to Warm to Cold cycle will be. IMHO organically slower but steady growth that is less likley to give up gains is better for sellers than a hot book de jour -
Thanos Copter represents the height of Spidey Super Stories cheesiness. Thanks for posting that!

9.2 / 9.4 and due to some color loss I do not think a C&P is merited unless there is some rippling or other non-color breaking damage not captured by the pics.

Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...
MAY1979 replied to PeterPark's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
Seems we agree on: - GS Chillers in 9.6 is below room temp on eBay - Not fans of Robbins' Marvel work in which Heroes look like heroin addicts in the midst of going cold turkey I think the fact these have been the main topics of conversation for a while proves a cold market -
I would have guessed Magnus 1 based on your History of CGC slab labels page

I may be thinking of another book but I recalll 9.4s selling for 600 last year? If so 9.6 at 716 seems like a bit of a drop -

If Invaders had even B artists for most of its run perhaps it would have been a top tier title? Nothing against Robbins but I prefer my comic book heroes not to look like junkies jonesing for a hit -
seems to me with content of those graders notes the book's are 9.6's mislabeled as 9.8

This one was not a "Vane copy' Love the so 1980's new Goldberg cover and how its totally anachronistic of the late 1960's/1970's characters and the interior content. 9.4 represents current highest census for this issue. 2024 Update: It's a Canadian Price Variant, sadly as per their norm CGC has it labelled wrong

This Week in Your Bronze Age Collection!!
MAY1979 replied to TupennyConan's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
I'm not a big fan of normal multiple cover books where outer cover is worst grade. Why pay 9.6 money for a book that displays as 9.0 is my feeling. -
Comic Book dealer and speculation hawker seemingly without morals or ethics aka the normal

Timeframe when dropping books off at con
MAY1979 replied to DarkPhantom13's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
In my experience it's 14-21 business days from last show date to date books appear on your dashboard. When I did a show drop-off the 1st week of Oct 2022, I was very surprised to have the books back before the month ended. -
Now I'm jelly of both of you

Re: Robbins - some folks like their comic heroes looking like heroin addicts in mid stages of withdrawal. Or at least original art collectors do as Robbins 70s pages sell for decent coin even the Human Fly stuff -

I question the overall general awareness and fiscal acumen of any who purchase from MCS via eBay rather than direct. Sadly it's common -

I like the Cardy Cover - is that his only for Marvel? But Ghost Rider's cheesy word balloon verbiage to me ruins it as display piece. By that I mean is on shelves in my home office I rotate 12 slabs pretty near every Saturday. -

It's an interesting odd-ball, but I do wonder if in long run that it's perhaps more potatoes than meat. -
Color rub on back from top to bottom. CGC has low tolerance for that. 9.2/9.4
