  1. Recently I purchased a somewhat hard to find music CD, seller sent a Movie DVD, thus the wrong item. Seller insisted it was correct. eBay ruled in my favor and refunded my money. A week later I see the seller re-listed the exact same CD they insisted they had sent me. First time in decade I've left negative feedback.
  2. From the 1980's Honeymooner's "resurgence" only 5 of this #1 from 1987 are on the Census. The 1986 #1 from Lodestone has 22 on Census including my self submitted childhood copy in my current Sig. I would have expected similar numbers for the 1987. I do wonder the numbers ordered? I picked up the 1987 from my LCS, feeling it was a 9.6 due to small color rub, I purchased the only current 9.8. Glad I did as it brings back many great memories. "Alice, you've been at that rum candy again!"
  3. Especially 1978-1979 Demon In A Bottle issues. Its basically Dark Phoenix for the Iron Man title in terms of acclaim and quality. However Alcoholism is real and widespread so far more relavent.
  4. 1/5 when additional 4-5 hit market 1-2 more to halve value. Exact equation, certainly not, but probably correct more times than its wrong. Although 1/5 might be a bit too low in this case. Of course if a resale is attempted before additional hit market it may be very nice profit for seller. BTW this does not apply to DC except possible some rare outliers. Example the 1969 Oakland WW in my signature is 1/2 in 9.8 and I'd be supremely lucky to get even a few hundred for it. I mean if Wonder Woman does not have run collectors then little hope for Bronze non-Batman and possibly non-Swamp Thing DC.
  5. IMHO Fedex is THE WORST. Which says a lot as I loathe UPS. Folks can say what they want about USPS, but I can and do have my mail held at my local post office. In addition if no one is home for a registered parcel it is held at the post office for 2 weeks. I simply walk over on Sat and pick up my stuff. Does not get anymore convenient than that! Sadly in my somewhat dense suburban area USPS PO Boxes are among the most costly in the country As a result my submitting days to CGC have ended as under no condition will I use Fedex only to have a package lost yet again.
  6. https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/blackrock-increases-position-in-fedex-fdx BlackRock Inc. ownership in FDX / FedEx Corporation 2023-02-07 - BlackRock Inc. has filed an SC 13G/A form with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) disclosing ownership of 16,691,254 shares of FedEx Corporation (US:FDX). This represents 6.6 percent ownership of the company. In their previous filing dated 2022-03-11 , BlackRock Inc. had reported owning 16,526,633 shares, indicating an increase of 1.00 percent. BlackRock Inc. has a history of taking positions in derivatives of the underlying security (FDX) in the form of stock options. The firm currently holds call options representing 0 of underlying shares valued at $0 USD and put options representing 0 of underlying shares valued at $0 USD . Note: prior versions of this page mistakenly stated that the share values represented the number of options, not the number of underlying shares. For more information on the data backing these reports, please see the SEC document Frequently Asked Questions About Form 13F. Edit: Confused Rock with Stone.
  7. Registry collectors must love negative ROI's. When the primary reason for a comics "value" is low census 9.8 population, it only takes 1-2 copies more new to the market to halve the going rate. When the number reaches 4-5 new copies in 9.8 it would be lucky to hang onto 1/5 of the "value" .
  8. Like to add, I for one am glad to see a mediocre at best 1980s DC book gettin' some love. I sincerely hope Booster Gold #1 rises to $1200 or more, in CGC 9.8 so that when it drops like anchor in shallow waters I can mock the moe ron's who paid that much coin for it. Then say the same myself for holding on to mine due only to my self imposed policy on not selling comics
  9. Wrap ain't perfect but got this one at a nice price a dozen years back. 10. and for that I thank our good Lord every day, and twice on Sunday.
  11. Other than key of key's (Stuff like early TMNT and ASM300), outliers and rarities or "variants" (like CPV's), Copper again sells well only if High Grade . Very few collectors have interest in Coppers when below 9.8 except for Keys, and Keys under 9.6 interest is very very low. The Social Media Crowd and others who jumped on the pandemic book bandwagon have left or are leaving the the hobby in droves after taking ROI hits were the fools/rubes/suckers/neophytes who were picking up Copper under 9.6 thinking it was an investment. With them gone Copper interest remains in only highest grade or raw reading copies. Comics are now so 2021 to the folks who propped up the non high grade copper market and they do return it will be measuring in decades. BTW what do you mean by Copper titles selling well? If it refers to moving at a moderate rate if high grade and priced competitively for current market then I agree. IMHO stuff like ASM or 80's X-Men is not an indicator of market health. P.S. I stopped purchasing low grade reading copies of pretty much everything about 12 years back. Why search and hunt when with a few mouse clicks or press on my tablets i can find 99% of anything i want to read. I get some crave the tactile-ness of holding the book to read but with my reading vision its so much easier to enlarge panels as needed. Not to mention life is too short to have to spend my time hunting down low grade copies of everything I want to read.
  12. We don't need USPS adding more stress. Let's add vintage comic books/magazines printed prior to the year 2000 to the ACCEPTED items for media mail. No shipper should ever have to be concerned if contents of parcel is from 1997 or 2012. Ain't going to happen.
  13. A great point. Most of the masses who entered the Comic hobby during the pandemic bubble have left or are leaving in droves it will be at least a decade perhaps 2 before there are enough fresh Rubes/Rookies/Neophytes/Suckers to enter the hobby for another across the board boom. Stock market is whole different thing and it will recover in weeks or months possibly a year. Stock Market to Comic Market is apples to oranges or more like apples to burgers.
  14. Hey, I totally Agree, BUT as noted in my sig my posts never not refer to Silver or older unless explicitly stated. It is a large hobby in terms of Era's and Segments so no one statement will ever fit all but on the whole the hobby falling downwards since the bubble burst and if history is any lesson the recovery will be measure in decade(s). To the Social Media Crowd, Comics have now become so 2021, they are whining about lo$$es and have moved or are moving on, for real collectors this is positive. IMHO life blood of the hobby are books under 1k or more realistically under $500 (or a lower estimation) it is certainly not books like AF15 , X-Men 1 (1963) or Superman 1 (1939) for example. The life blood ain't flowing the way it used to and won't for years and year to come. Look how long it took to recover from the 90's bust. Going forwards any recovery will be need to be done with significantly less collectors than in past.
  15. Should all books be pressed prior to submission? Most certainly not! Take for example the five Silver and early Bronze 9.6 and 9.8 Pedigree's in my current signature, none were pressed. Its equally important to know what not to press, as it is to know what to press.
  16. Some sellers, including I'm sure some that post here, believe they are always entitled to pandemic bubble prices . Well, they are not! and likley never were. Leaner and leaner times are a comin' BTW: reddit is full of threads and posts of folks whining about losses on Comic Books. Most of those who were paying top bubble prices have or will exit the hobby, it will be a generation to replace all those rube/suckers. Of course dealers-sellers with true business ability know steady cash flow is paramount over getting top dollar on every item.
  17. With a quality professional 3rd party clean and press a 7.5 is likley attainable. "Is the juice worth the squeeze?"
  18. Agreed. Attempting to time either in pretty much any market is fool's errand.
  19. So Booster G is currently hot and selling for above pandemic prices the last 2-3 days. Cool that a post Bronze DC non Bat related book is doing this but it wont last. If you got them to sell do it NOW! Its high Census Pop DC Copper after all Books CGC Label CGC Total Avg. 20. Only copy on census as I'm the only id10t who has ever submitted one.
  21. ^ I love to say i told you so - this will be good! As Bronze-Current DC goes HOS 92 is an outlier and has been for at least 4 decades Most Speculations on post Silver DC will result in a loss. Now DC Bronze and very early Copper DC Original Comic Art has decent potential and "vintage" superhero art seldom does not hold onto gains.
  22. Regarding Comic Book OA - Back in 2010 I purchased a large number of pages direct from an Artist at above estimated FMV. If i had sold it a year later I would have at an estimated 20-30% loss. The Artist would not have reimbursed me for the loss. Forward to the present and the art accounting for inflation is estimated at 3x greater than what I paid. If the Artist is not responsible for any potential loss on my side, then they have no claim on any gain from my side. Of course there are a multitude of situations and therein lies the problem. The same protection I have as an honest more than fair paying buyer also are what shields the scumbag Comic OA dealers. P.S. can of worms - its very rare when an Artist reports and pays income taxes on what historically have been private cash sales.
  23. Never, ever assume you have 9.8 (or 9.6 on a pre-1980 book) at least until you have experience of 100's of books submitted. Those new to grading who feel a book is 9.8 are pretty near wrong every single time.
