  1. From what I've seen: Modern 30-40% less Copper 15-25% less Bronze 5-20% less Silver - White commands a premium over OW/W. Seem to be a faction of collectors who value White pages nearly above all. Some of them have mentioned they would rather a 9.4w than 9.6ow/w. As for me on a Silver Age book I'll take the 9.6 ow/w any day... Newb Pandemic era buyers may not have shown any concern with page quality but as they incur heavy negative ROI's and exit the hobby many less buyers will paying the "White" price for ow/w or lower on Copper or later books. There are many variables of course and I could be way off on everything
  2. The market is very fluid now and for the most part highly affected by gravity!
  3. Think it depends on who owns the book the house (in disguise) or another entity. then depends on how they play it item by item. BTW story like yours are probably lower priced lots from average consignees and cast just enough doubt that the rubes will believe the house is not being dishonest. BTW the head of that house has prior convictions! As for CC I've only bid on 2 items from them it was more than 10 years ago and both of course ended at my exact maximum bid. Its too tiny a sample of course but a very common story with them.
  4. I track over 40 items last 1 year, all except 5 are down month to month. I track only eBay "real" auction sales no fixed price. Almost all are 1975-1990 books. From July- Current the drops are 25% or more nearly across the board. I don't have the data with me to display at moment. I also do not sell and track mainly out of curiosity. So it really matters little fiscally to me except as a buyer. My opinion any non Key of Keys high-ish pop Bronze or Copper still has plenty of room to drop. I will not be surprised if we see certain books fall below March 2020 FMV . ala BTO "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet"
  5. Evanier mentioned it in within an article on his blog late last year or early this year - searching his blog is not easy, but give it a ago I'm sure you will eventually find it. Logically: Sergio is 85 assuming anything ever reaches fruition it will be years. Will he really be able to take on such an effort? As for Mark I believe he is 67, by the time anything is ever developed he'll be pushing 70 or past it. Based on his blog-ings he is comfortable with more work than he can handle and he has no heirs. Will he really want to take on the grind of a TV show again? Based on his writings looks very unlikely. Perhaps had it been 10-12 years back? The time has passed. Again without Sergio and Mark controlling Groo 100% it will likley come off as a cartoon about mass murder. I've said it before and I say it again the whole "animation exploration rights" is and will be a nothing burger - and no I don't care who purchased those exploration rights. Less than 1% of those explorations ever amount to any final product and when they do it's usually just a failed pilot. Although perhaps the % ticks up a tad with so many current venues compared to years past? I love Groo, but any purchasing the books at current FMV will lose money. Since I don't sell comics, and own all the keys in 9.8, I am merely offering my honest opinions .
  6. Not related to the topic but thought I'd mention; Love Pollard's 1978-1980 work on ASM, FF, and Thor as well as covers from other Marvel Titles, like Cap, during that time. His work during that time frame IMHO was A-List
  7. That sucks. Having a detailed inventory with CGC certs recorded is important. Glad to see they do that
  8. Sad. Appears he was "blind to this addiction" now "all fall down, like toy soldiers" BTW this may one future day be the fate of Comic Books.Time is the great equalizer.
  9. I submitted this one a few years back. Its similar to modern trades in dimensions. A magazine slab was used. Submitted as Modern Comic
  10. "Lobby Card" size Mylar's is what I use. IIRC I had boards custom made from eGerber. It was a while back. 1114M2 11 1/2 x 14 1/2 Lobby Cards & Photos
  11. It was animation rights and without Sergio or Mark's involvement it won't be really be Groo. In the near impossible event soemthign does transpire. It a concept that must be handled very carefully and with out hose 2 it's not more than some mendicant mass-murderer. IMHO anyone purchasing Groo keys at today's prices will lose on ROI in the future. Money might be better spent on cheese dip.
  12. Border line 8.0/8.5. Presents nicely. Black borders make it tough to find in high grade unless they were carefully bagged from day 1 - like mine It's my favorite TMNT cover BTW
  13. CGC is very harsh on "rubs" and color loss. The technical grades they assign at times do not seem congruent as an example if there is a tiny tear or color loss on the spine especially top corners of spine then it's ok...? They also seem to be more lenient on spine ticks/hits/etc than I am. I am an ultra strict grader in my raw days I was the type dealers and LCS owners hated! I now have a fair idea of what to expect but of course it's a moving target that changes every few years. The last submission I received back was 14 1970's and 1980's books. 12 of the 14 I got exactly grade I expected, 1 was .2 higher, 1 was .2 lower, although those 2 books could have gone in either direction and I did get the higher grade on the book with higher current FMV. I've also learned it seems to work out when I mix in one or 2 9.2 or 9.4 candidates in with my estimated 9.8 multi-book submissions as CGC seem hesitant to assign every book in an order the "hallowed" 9.8.
  14. any other careers? "oil well firefighter" or perhaps "matador"
  15. It is but the issue is already a minor key and speculators be needin more books to hype and hawk
  16. Ive seen Sparkle get noticeably higher final hammers than other sellers to the point i think there is some shenanigans
  17. Sports Cards one of the few hobby's with dealers more sleezy than OA.
  18. Any one influenced by an influencer is a sheep to be fleeced.
  19. Just back from CGC this was one of my childhood copies and the second one I've submitted. 252 has special meaning to me. Back in the day my Mom read in the newspaper that ASM 252 was going to be big and it mentioned collectors were purchasing multiple copies for the future. She asked if I had it, i said yes but only one copy due to funds. She then gave me $5 and said get more. Back then even $5 meant a lot to my Mom, she worked 2 jobs to keep us clothed and fed. I then went over to my LCS and purchased 3 more copies of 252 - as I recall they were 1.50 each by then which was more than double the original cost 2 weeks prior.. I do wish Mom was still here to see what happened with the book. Please note this copy was pressed due to a very minor issue on the back, I'm reasonably sure it would have received a 9.8 anyhow, but wanted to make sure. Thanks Mom! Found a copy of the exact article my Mom read, it's from Feb 2, 1984
