  1. My post excluded 9.4 and higher but what about 8.0 and below? Especially lower than 7.0?
  2. My buddy will be submitting all 9.8 candidates over the next 2 months from his 2 long boxes. However he will be doing it Modern Service Level so my guess it will have already cooled by then. He offered to give me a few copies of my choice to do a review prior to submission for him but honesty the book means nothing to me and my free time now is scarce so I'll probably pass. Last time I did the work on book for him like that he decided to sell them raw at 50% FMV to a client of his. Probably a smart move given it was cash.
  3. I actually go out of my way to disparage Copper books i own in 9.8 in effect "I don't want to join any club that would have me as member" As part of my Job I have taken a boatload of courses and seminars on various Bias' the last 10 years and I can you that any human that say they don't have them is lying. Financial based biases are some of the most difficult to overcome and are highly prevalent in society. They also attract the most Venom (pun intended) when any counter point is given.
  4. As I understand many Silver and Bronze keys not in 9.4 (more applicable to silver) or 9.6 or 9.8 are going for noticeably less than last year. WWBN 32 anyone.... Lots of room for the non-prime condition keys to settle back to probably the level they should be at had there been no pandemic. Of course like all markets no one statement fits all, but for the broader market in general it will ring true, this is what happens when a bubble bursts. Please note my post does not refer to Golden/Atom or pre-1964 Silver. I am not involved enough in those markets to have a proper understanding. “markets can remain irrational a lot longer than you and I can remain solvent.” - Keynes; However eventually it will become rational and we are now at the start of that phase.
  5. Sorry you took losses, but likley new normal for a while. There will always be exceptions, outliers, record breaking keys, and MCU rumor related hot book of the day but for the comic market as a whole the pain is just starting. For most books just holding on to a fractions of its pandemic gains will be a victory. 6 month from now today's prices will seem like the gold old days for sellers. Also expect many who jumped on the bandwagon to leap off as they take heavy ROI hits.
  6. Re Facebook: There are 7400 age 60+ OA collectors, WOW! No conversations from 4:30-6:00PM while all have their early birds I bet nearly all of them have AOL email addresses (I know Giella does) Makes sense most of the convo's are short there as the participants likley doze off after 2 or 3 sentences.
  7. Grades for my Oct 19, 2021 marked received economy no press submission popped yesterday...50 weeks after posted as received and 56 weeks after they actually arrived at CGC facility.
  8. not sure I was clear, but i was talking about Batman/Spawn #1 in which the only reason are number are not higher is for most simply not worth submitting.
  9. The registry exists to bring in income for CGC. Even if it's nowhere near PSA's gold standard of an app. The answer is simple; the individual must decide if the dopamine hit of having a high or the highest ranked registry set is worth all the other factors like cost, time, effort, sanity etc.. BTW: Many times registry sets are nothing more than a wiener wallet measuring contest Unless of course its about holding the #1 ranked set in every DC published Digest category as that is simply and undeniably the coolest
  10. IMHO: A Pedigree is nothing more than designation of an original owner collection - which makes it entirely after market. Pedigrees being "worth" more registry points makes no sense. The condition of the book, is the condition of the book. In addition some (most?) pedigrees are really not indicative of superior overall quality over non-pedigree copies. Lets take "Oakland" for instance - I have many of these all purchased from in Aug&Sept 1998, some I've had graded. Of the books I've had graded 1/2 I submitted in all the back in 2001-2003 and then again another 2 batches nearly 20 year later in 2021. 75% have ow/w pages , with slightly less than 25% being WP as 1 was OW. I've also tracked sales of these when possible and the ratios are similar 75% are NOT WP. My guess is the way the environmental condition in which they were stored from day of purchase until Vinny and Carbinaro raking in the haul was less than optimal. I will say that 9.6 and 9.8 abound with the Oakland books I purchased. As for signed books that is a large revenue generator for CGC so the absurdity of them being more registry points for what in effect are damaged books is something sadly that has to be accepted as it's part of their business model.
  11. Not considering waiting time. My opinion is estimate the value of each in 6.5 then decide.
  12. after reading a few posts here about changing grades, i make sure to take some caps and download the data as soon as they pop. Had an economy pop today - it was sent to cgc Sept 16 2021. 5 picture frames in there that this thread inspired me to submit.
  13. IMHO even a 9.4 is lucky in a poly-bag. When I still purchased new comics I hated them. it meant I had to buy several copies and keep opening until I got one that met my standards. I soon grew weary of that ploy and simply removed myself from that treadmill by purchasing one at con or other after market mechanism that met my criteria. It probably saved me money in the long run and certainly helped me maintain sanity
  14. Registered from CGC for example to my location usually take 5-7 business and I'm only 15 miles from one of the larger shipping hubs in the USA
  15. Not sure about now but when I was a Child. Spectre Flash Iron Man Black Panther Thor Firestorm Supergirl Zatanna Nova
  16. i would not be surprised if the print run was 300000-400000 I see many at Cons and LCS' to the point of ubiquity. I saw this post while I was talking on phone with a buddy of mine who owned my closest LCS until he semi-retired last year. I asked him if he has any - his inventory shows 2 full Longs Box in storage. He'll Check out the going rate and if he deems it worth it he'll send them to CGC. He's the type that dumps great quantities in a short time on eBay and other venues - he's not into waiting game and has little care maintaining the maximum price point any more as he desires to fully retire and "go tropical" for his remaining years. IMHO if direct sale version the book is not worth grading except as Signature fodder for Todd. The 9.8 population has gone up over double since June 2020. My guess it triples or more in next 2 years perhaps more if my buddy now dumps his in effect due to your post I also told him do his 4 full long boxes of Spawn 1 as there are fools rubes fans who are still paying $150 or so for it. How many hundreds or thousands of dealers have multiple full long boxes of Spawn 1? My guess is most ...
  17. This is a Bronze Age book but adding it here anyway! It was issued the 3rd month of the Marvel Direct Sale era which began with June 1979 cover dated books. A $6 raw purchase in 1999. It can't be seen from my scan but this is a very glossy copy.
  18. There may have been others who have taken up the mantle the last few years but I stopped keeping track in 2019 - Harmy's last version is my go to version. At the time it was about as close as one could get to the original. But yeah is an affront to history regardless of what Lucus was entitled to do with what was his property.
  19. It was the "blog" on your website that led me to pick up mine one year ago. Extending my thanks! BTW what setting/pre-sets do you use in DocuAction, a screen cap of them woudl be great
