  1. Forget Bronze Age. Save a bit more and buy a low grade AF 15.
  2. Hi all: Just to set the facts straight on this topic, the prices were raised at Greg Capullo’s request, and not by Danny or Spencer.
  3. Curious about that, too. In addition to what you’ve stated, a significant amount of Aparo pages were also sold in last week’s HA auction, and the one prior.
  4. The opposite of unhappy. In fact, I’m downright giddy at the breadth and depth of this auction. As always, my focus is Spidey and Hulk and there’s some great examples of both. And while this auction features some great top-shelf stuff, I believe it has some excellent examples in the $5K-$10K range as well as numerous quality pieces below $5K. best thing about this auction is that if you are outbid on one piece, another will come later in the auction for you to win, and so on...
  5. I went to my local library this weekend to check out the graphic novel section. On the shelf was two copies each of Batman hush and the Superman storyline Jim illustrated. the Batman books are very worn, with tears, creases, earmarked pages, etc. The Superman books showed an inventory date of two years and haven’t been touched...just a bit of scuffing from shelfware. to summarize: -Batman Hush = desired, well loved, many readers/memorable -Superman = tumbleweeds and crickets
  6. Yeah, a very solid artist, especially during the first half of the decade, and probably the 4th best Batman artist of the 70's: 1. Adams 2. Rogers 3. Golden 4. Aparo
  7. They appear on HA once a year or thereabouts. I think there’s one included in the upcoming auction
  8. HI, all: I've decided to sell a few Bagley pieces on ebay. First up is a wonderful Bagley Venom page from Venom #155 (Lethal Protector Part 1 storyline). Now is probably a good time to pick up some Venom art before the movie comes out in Oct. Here's the ebay linky: https://www.ebay.com/itm/MARK-BAGLEY-VENOM-155p7-LETHAL-PROTECTOR-PART-1-STORYLINE/152965768386?hash=item239d7864c2:g:NwUAAOSw3Z9avsGW Next up is a nice Hulk splash from the Hulk Omega storyline, written by Gerry Duggan (Deadpool). Here's the ebay linky: https://www.ebay.com/itm/MARK-BAGLEY-HULK-5p5-FULL-PAGE-SPLASH-OF-THE-INCREDIBLE-HULK/152965751139?hash=item239d782163:g:8DgAAOSwCBFavrfR Thanks for looking, and good luck to all bidders!
  9. I had to do a double-take when I saw Parsonavich mentioned in the same breath as Romita Sr, but I get it. I was following a lot of titles during the black and white boom and I really enjoyed his quirky art style (so bad that it’s good). And Romita Sr has always been one of my favs.
  10. Fair enough. Nostalgia is always the biggest draw on my wallet, so I get what you’re saying.
  11. Just curious, what makes this one your favourite over the others?
  12. The Alex Ross Marvels splash featuring the FF & Silver Surfer vs Galactus is very nice https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/alex-ross-marvels-3-painted-splash-page-30-fantastic-four-and-silver-surfer-original-art-m/p/7187-193003.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  13. The Bagley ASM 389 cover incorrectly attributes the cover inks to Randy Emberlin. However, this is the ONLY Cover to feature Bagley pencils AND inks. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/mark-bagley-and-randy-emberlin-amazing-spider-man-389-cover-original-art-marvel-1994-/p/7187-193002.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  14. Math? We're actually doing math in a comics thread now? That's it! This thread has officially 'jumped the shark'!
  15. Not to me. Honestly, who gives a sheeeit about Tombstone?
  16. Y’know, it’s really a shame that Marvel didn’t get Boris to paint this cover. All of those super Bronzed faces would certainly have helped this cover cross the $1M threshold
  17. Yes, and that's perfectly fine with me because a good amount of issues during Romita's run focused on MJ-Peter-Gwen love triangle (a la Archie-Betty-Veronica), so you could say that John came along at the right time to really make those issues click with readers, as evidenced by Spidey's print run exceeding the FF's print run during John's tenure.
  18. Heath is a wonderful artist. Love his stuff on the DC War books and Sea Devils, and his work on the Warren mags in particular, but comparing him to Romita Sr on ASM is apples to oranges because much like Gray Morrow, Heath is a technically proficient artist, but doesn’t quite look right when doing superheroes. He’s more of an action/adventure type of artist to me.
