  1. Still love looking at these though, bought every edition from #4 up. Wonder if they've adjusted to more accurately reflect how so many books have exploded in the last year.
  2. I bought a book from this dealer two weeks ago, and they have not sent it, and will not respond to email. The book is still listed on Ebay. I bought it by outside communication with the dealer, so Ebay will be no help. Neither will Paypal, as I did a "friends and family" transfer. Anyone here know this dealer, or have any advice? Thanks!
  3. No complete copy of Action 1 or Tec 27 will ever be had for less than 300K, ever again, I predict.
  4. OT: In last week's HA, a poor, incomplete copy of Fantastic Comics 20 sold for $576? WTH? I know most issues of that title have been very hard to find for a long time, but still....SMH.
  5. Action 1 and Tec 27 will likely always be the top two going forward. I think T27 might actually move to a clear #1 in time, considering the decades-long popularity trend in favor of the Batman character, which seems to be accelerating. The #3 book is now clearly Superman #1. I wonder if Cap1 and Bats 1 could now be close to "tied" at the next tier? I'd argue that Cap 1 is more important in comic history than Bats 1, and FAR more significant than Supes 1. What is the future "ceiling" for Cap 1 in the hobby? I think the answer is the #3 overall book.
  6. No one who has a complete lower grade copy, including restored copies, would be wise to sell for less than $100k now IMO.
  7. What impact does this have on prices for lower grade and restored copies? I think it puts great upward pressure on them. Copies aren't exactly plentiful, and people who want one are going to scramble to get one, thinking they're about to be priced out of the market, even at the lower end. I'd be surprised if you can buy any complete copy of the book for less than $100K going forward.
  8. Bought my 56 (CGC purple 7.0 EP) from Gator on this board around 2008(?) I think. I do remember I paid him $1500. I think it's a $10K book now, if not more, with this ongoing escalation in GA prices. 56 is almost never offered for public sale anywhere.
  9. The More Fun Spectre and Doctor Fate covers deserve to be among the most valued books in the hobby, IMO. Now it appears they may be headed in that direction. 52 and 73 have been there for a long time, but the whole run of 52 to 76 is just super cool. Among my very favorite books.
  10. The More Fun 52 3.0 went over $95 large! Holy Toledo. But that book is not easy to find, really never has been. I spent a couple of years looking for one. My 4.5 Conserved bought for $10k in 2007 looks like quite the bargain now. The "new" golden age market never ceases to amaze. There appears to be no ceiling for anything.
  11. Most every GA book, keys especially, has gone nuts in the past year it seems.
  12. These books used to be available by the thousands on Ebay. No more, and the early issues are pretty expensive now. Metro hardly has any of the books in stock. They used to have multiples of every single issue. I completed these runs about 20 years ago, for almost nothing It seems most any GA or atom age book sells like hotcakes now
  13. LOL! Good one. But in all seriousness: Is a moderately restored (B-3) book with an edge trim preferable to, say, an extensively restored (B-5) with leaf casting to remove the "edge trimmed" CGC designation? I think probably the former?
  14. I can answer definitively- NO. Because I submitted a Tec 27 to Matt Nelson to evaluate for that very thing about 8 years ago. It's a 6.5 B-3 with a right edge trim of a little more than 1/8". He told me that CGC confirmed the leaf casting would NOT remove the "right edge trimmed" designation, and would also result in a B-5 on the restoration. I considered getting the leaf casting done anyway, because I hate the trimming, but literally everyone I consulted about it advised me not to do it. I remember talking to Gator about it a couple of times. In retrospect, I'm glad I didn't do it. I'll live with the book as it is.
  15. These sizes apparently are no longer available from any source I can find. They used to be all over the place. Are they no longer made in these specific sizes? I need a supply of either size. Anybody? Thanks.
  16. Anybody ever buy from Passaic Book Center back in the '70s? I bought tons of books from them. They put out a massive catalog every six months for several years, and advertised through Marvel and DC.
  17. Said a while back that the entry level for a complete restored T27 or A1 was 200K. It might actually be 300K now. There are probably only about 200-250 existing complete copies of each book, including restored copies. The lower grade unrestored books are going to soon have a price approaching $1 million, IMO. Where does that leave the people who want a copy, but can't possibly ever pony up seven figures? Purple labels.
