  1. Don't know if they're the absolute "hottest" GA books now, but a lot of the Centaur and Fox books can still bring 10, 20, even 50 times guide. Try finding, say, Amazing Man 25 or 26, in ANY condition. Try finding Fantastic 3 (Well they're actually easy to FIND, since all existing copies now belong to one person).
  2. The early (pre-Archie) run of this title seems weird to me, with the first few issues being less highly prized than #7-21? Anyway, it appears that the #7 to 21 issues have really gotten hot in the recent past. I just got blown away on a blue 3.5 #13 in the current Hake's auction, it's at $1500 and still going. Is it the bondage/torture covers on #7-21 that have made them inflate so much? They're starting to catch up with the early Archie issues of Pep.
  3. Anyone familiar with this particular seller, bought from them before? Has a small amount of books, but some relatively big/expensive items. Thx.
  4. Prices on the book will never go anywhere but up. That's your "reality".
  5. I still absolutely love looking at each new edition of the OCBPG, even though it's miles from accurate and always has been/will be. What SA books should we expect to have made big moves in this year's edition?
  6. Another HUGE factor that's positively impacting the hobby: New foreign collectors and investors. Comic book collecting/investing was largely confined to the US and Canada until relatively recently. It's exploding all over the world now. Of course, the superhero media explosion has helped fuel this, the Marvel cinematic universe in particular.
  7. B&V 40 has been spiking for a long time now, and is still doing so. Not sure exactly why. The cover is cheesecake lite, but really no more so than some other early issues of the title.
  8. Last year the Overstreet guide took a few tentative steps toward reflecting market reality on some GA books. Still, it's almost comical how inaccurate they remain. Too many specific examples to cite, but basically every Centaur and Fox book is undervalued by 3X-20X or more. Some obvious breakout books are ignored. One example I just noticed is Betty & Veronica 40, not even broken out in the last Overstreet, it'll go for at least 20X guide or more in most any grade.
  9. Probably ten bucks? I've had my Weird Mysteries 5 since 1980, that's what I paid for it.
  10. My raw 3.5 that I bought for $75 in a CBG ad in 1996 looks like a pretty good bargain now. Seriously, is this book that scorching just because of the cover?
  11. Said it before: In ten years, people will look back and laugh at the prices presently being paid for T27 and A1. There will come a day (in the not-so-distant future) when ANY complete copy of either, restored books included, will bring $500K plus. I actually think that will happen sooner than ten years hence.
  12. I think a LOT of new people have entered the GA market in the past couple of years, and are seeking out books that have not been actively sought in a while.
  13. That Subby 1 2.5 is going to go strong, already over 7K with a day left. Not long ago Subby 1 and HT 1 were just flatline dead books, as I recall.
  14. I won the Human Torch 6 and a movie (The Thing From Another World) lobby card. Thought the More Fun 52 went pretty strong, considering the condition of the spine.
  15. Sad, prayers for his family. I only talked to him once, many years ago. Didn't he have all of the Mile High Timely books at one point?
  16. One thing I know for certain: You'll never be able to afford a copy of either book.
  17. More evidence that Cap 1 is gaining on Bats 1. Said it before, now one more time: In ten years, Cap 1 will be the #3 book in the hobby, after Tec 27, A 1. Yes, it will eventually pass Supes 1, for a variety of reasons.
  18. No A1 could be found for $150 in the late 70s. More like 2-3k for lower grade copies.
  19. AS 8 was undervalued for decades, just like Cap 1. Both of those books are still on the upswing. Said before that in ten years I predict Cap 1 will be the #3 book in the hobby. How far up could AS 8 go in the top 10?
  20. MANY people have complete Marvel collections from FF 1 at least through the copper age. Heck, I have a Marvel collection with all runs complete from the pre-FF 1 Kirby monster books-up, only excluding the Millie/romance books and about 30% of the books from 1990-present, which I just don't have interest in. That ain't special, just space-consuming in the extreme. On the other hand, someone having all the Timely/Atlas books from Marvel 1 up to FF 1 would be incredible.
  21. Who other than Levine has a complete DC collection? Again, I heard there was at least one other complete collection out there. Also, I wonder if anyone in the world has a complete Timely/Atlas/Marvel collection?
  22. Music producer Ian Levine reportedly has a complete DC collection from Tec 1 to present, all titles present. I've read there's at least one other individual who has a complete DC collection. Those collections would have to be in the running, if the early stuff is in good condition.
  23. At this moment, as far as preeminent collectors? Dave Anderson, J. Verzyl, S. Fishler....? Who else would likely be part of the top ten? I know some people relatively new to the hobby have poured vast sums of money into collections in the last decade. I have no idea who the top high grade silver age collectors are now, and where they'd rank relative to the top tier of golden age specialists. I'd think with (for example) the best copies of Amazing Fantasy 15 now exceeding $1 million, the top silver age specialists have some of the world's most valuable collections. Some people collect all eras, including (very) little old me. Anyone have a guess at the world's most valuable collections today?
