  1. I read Ol' Matt used to keep a huge inventory of photos and art from magazines he would use as let's say inspiration. The girl on Cinderella is a dead ringer for the girl in this magazine: Liberty Magazine Jan.1947. Which came out around the time when the un-named actress above was one of the biggest Hollywoood Starlets in the biz. I suppose a lot of people already knew he swiped that lovely face, but for those who didn't https://comics.ha.com/itm/memorabilia/miscellaneous/liberty-magazine-january-1947-paul-hunter-1947-condition-vg/a/40190-81196.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515
  2. Yep. 3,180,000. I'm guesing sales tax couldn't be evaded so about another 200,000. It cost about 3.4 million the first time. The article says Goldin sold it again for 3.4 million which I don't even remember., if taxed thats about 3.65 million. So I guess the first buyer dished out all that dough just to make Goldin some money a few months later. Now sold for 3.55 minus commission, no profit there again. I don't know what's going on. Why do these people even bid it up and buy it in the first place if they're just gonna sell it a few months later at a loss.
  3. Wow. Weird Jungle Tales. Interesting. From 1953. Terrors of the Jungle has a "Weird" numbering sequence. From what I see by date it was issues 17,18,19,20,21. Follwed by issue 4 to 10 ending in August 1954. No idea why they called this CP issue 202. Maybe they were thinking of changing the name of the title between issue 21 (Feb 53) and issue 4 (April 53). Pretty neat cover regardless.
  4. I know right? Saw it last night. I needed a few days to get the cash up because I just sent a check to HA, but I knew it wouldn't stick around. Seller had a make offer option but I think the buyer just paid full amount. Probably won't see another this nice for a long, long, long, time. Look at that thing
  5. That is not good. I just sent the cbcs 3.0 Mystery Men 10 Cream to off White to CGC on the 15 day tier. If it comes back SB I will be devastated, well at least pretty bummed. Funny because with Silver books White pages are much more common these days from what I see. Thanks for sharing that observation. Good insight. And I should have included the notes, didn't think of it. It's not a ton of money so no big deal if I just keep it for a while. I would still sell for at least what I paid for it. Cheap early Fox, Blue Beetle, Joe Simon , Green Asian villains. Good post, thanks.
  6. So who bought the 7.0 True to Life Romances on eee bay today? Hope someone here got it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/304781862251
  7. Oh my. What a cover. Best cover of the series. Possibly the best Centaur cover there was, even better than the nazi monster cover. Really one of the best covers in all of comic history. Do you have a # 4 of the series comicjack?
  8. Thank you for that jimbo. I think you're right. I thought it might be the paypal thing. They just take too much for transfering funds in my opinion. "in defense" for lack of a better term even though it is slightly brittle the cover looks pretty darn good. Colors are real strong and bright. Plus there are only 12 of them and I see only 8 sales of this issue in the past 13 years. I'll probably put it on th CL exchange and if it doesn't sell I'll send it back to HA in a couple months. No biggie, thanks again
  9. That is a sweet example. Beauty. Looks glossy too. Probably a solid 7.0 with white pages . You have some really really nice books.
  10. Oh cool. Yeah CL auctions have been low lately, which is good as a buyer. I came short on everything I sold there this month. One thing I'll credit them for is having the GA stuff in one section and auctioning in one day. At least I'm pretty sure they do it like that.
  11. Nice! Both look good for the grade. Did you see the L.B. Crime books that ended on Comiclink last night? Thanks for showing all those great books, I envy your fortitude on acquiring all those. You should turn a room in your home to an L.B. Cole museum. Serious. Hi Mic, What is a cover proof? Whatever it is that one looks Sweeeeet!
  12. Looks like that was the case with most of them. 6,600 is quite a lot for almost any Romance book to me. But one could see it as two serious Romance or Baker collectors doing what they had to do to get the highest graded example. ...........while losing all sense of reason. Nice. Very nice. Personally to me the Romance (and Crime books as well) from the late 40's through Silver age are just cool to have in any grade and especially raw so you can see the interior art if you wish. Kirby/Simon's, Baker's, Cole's, Romita's ect ect. Every cover is unique and interesting. Always some drama happening. With so many titles with so few examples especially above mid grade just having a decent looking copy is a good thing. I wanted one graded Baker romance book (actually there are a few I want but I never see) and I thought the 3.5 looked good for the grade. I really don't mind the girls name written on the cover either. Thanks I'll scan it and post a pic on the Baker thread when it comes. I thought it would go a little cheaper( and it would have if I didn't get involved) because of the 4.5 copy in the Valentine auction. Had a 2k cap in mind beforehand. Had instant buyers remorse after it ended then when I saw what the others in title went for I felt a bit better. I like it. Plus I like how she resembles the girl on Cinderella 25. Could be the same girl even, "running around" after Chuck left. That Valentine Good Girl auction is gonna be a lot of fun to watch.
  13. Highest graded sole 5.5. From what I can see the highest ever sold in public has been a 3.0. And the 39, one of the two highest graded. These books don't come around much. The 3.5 32, I actually won that. I think it went to a little too high. We'll see where the 4.5 on HA ends up in 2 weeks.
  14. Price Reduced to 1,325.00. Still No Paypal. Why nobody buy my book? Is it the No Paypal part? Do people need paypal to buy comics even here on the board? If so is it for security reasons or the convenience of not having to mail a letter? At this point this is just an Data Gathering thread. Any input is helpful. So, Why nobody buy my book?
  15. Strong prices on these Baker Romance. The girl on Teen-Age Romance 32 looks a lot like the one on Cinderella Love 25.
  16. Just back from getting put in a shiny new holder. Fantucchiooooooo. That's how I like to say it, Fantucchioooooo! 1 of only 9 Pedigrees of this book.
  17. So much time and patience to acquire all these. Thanks for showing them off
  18. Hi Jimbo. Do you know if Baker did the cover for #3? Don't think so but I've never been sure. I do love that cover though.
  19. # 6 by a nose. Both are great but I like how 6 doesn't have a solid color title box like the red one on 4. You get the full picture on 6. And I love the colors of the water on 6. It's just got a slightly more "classic" look to me.
  20. What a crazy cover. Looks like Baby Face just got mortally wounded. Even wackier is how that other guy would just stop to ask the lady that question. Real cool cat.
  21. I read a Rulah comic online recently. Some pretty hot stuff going on in there
  22. Correct me if I'm wrong, I never had the pleasure of reading it, but technically isn't Terrifying Tales 13 a guy with a devil costume and not actually the Prince of Darkness himself?
  23. When it comes to danger in the waters, I guess the femme fatales tend to attract a whole lot more loving from the collecting base: - lou_fine So true. It's just one of those the Baker cover's everyone wants . I wonder if the other 9.2 is a Church or other pedigree. Reminds me of New Adventure 27 a lot .......minus the femme fatale.
