  1. I read a Rulah comic online recently. Some pretty hot stuff going on in there
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, I never had the pleasure of reading it, but technically isn't Terrifying Tales 13 a guy with a devil costume and not actually the Prince of Darkness himself?
  3. When it comes to danger in the waters, I guess the femme fatales tend to attract a whole lot more loving from the collecting base: - lou_fine So true. It's just one of those the Baker cover's everyone wants . I wonder if the other 9.2 is a Church or other pedigree. Reminds me of New Adventure 27 a lot .......minus the femme fatale.
  4. Allow me to explain. I won this and also the not cgc 3.0 Mystery Men #10 on the Fox auction. I really only wanted the #10. It's at cgc right now for a re-grade. I was surprised I won the 11 because I thought it would go higher. I really don't need both so here it is available for all. Selling for pretty much what I paid for it. Why nobody buy my book?

  6. Yes. I'm sitting in a 16X22 ft room right now that's bright as heck. Lighted by one 100 watt LED soft white light bulb with a cover on the ceiling. Everything has a white clear look. Before I had a 75W regular incandescent bulb. Everything had a yellow/brown look and it was too dark. The LED daybulbs as opposed to the soft white are even brighter and give a more natural light. I know this isn't big news to a lot of people, my point is yes lighting makes a huge difference. Also seems like the increase or lets say decrease in Cream books started about 10 or so years ago, right around the time LED bulbs began getting big. I mean it is possible this was a factor.
  7. You know I actually thought that. Maybe they switched to LED lights. I switched out all the bulbs in the house to LED a few months back a boy are they brighter , but in a comfortable on the eyes way.
  8. Planet #2 Some slabs say Eisner cover, some say Fine cover. The older slabs going back to the 1st gens say Lou Fine. The current slabs say Will Eisner. Who do you think penciled the cover? It looks like Fine to me but I'm not sure. ( pic is not my book, got it from the innernet)
  9. Yeah we needed a channel like this. Visiting long time collectors who know so much and are willing to show some of their great books. Those guys were showing off some really hard to find high grade stuff. This section alone has probably dozens of guys/girls with some really great stuff I know I'd love to see. I know that's what a lot of threads on the forum are for but seeing them in high def video is even better. Maybe if David gets more subs and the money starts rolling in he will be able to visit more guys with killer collections so we can ogle their stuff.
  10. It is a really good channel. They do good work and he is always spot on I think about his advice for newer collectors. He's has some really interesting, knowledgeable, and handsome guests too
  11. And an even bigger congratulations to the person who bought the 9.4 Church a few months later.
  12. Romita is awesome. Those Romance covers? Sweet. Pretty much every one is great. Well thanks for that info. I thought, and maybe I'm wrong, but Ditko seemed like the kind of guy who was proud of his work and wouldn't really want anyone else involved with what he's doing, including and maybe especially Stan. So I thought maybe in Stans eyes he figured John would be easier to give direction to. But if what John said in that quote is true Stan really didn't have much input and gave the artists free reign. Well thanks again
  13. I figured it was likely that Steve spoke to Jack before, or at least that Jack knew everything. I don't know the details about Jacks employment at the time but it's a shame Marvel didn't take better care of him, he was literally their Golden Goose. I know he had a terrible time getting just some of his art back from then later on. Seems they put him through a legal Hell that was probably not cheap either. As far as ASM , Ditko, Lee, and Romita- I always wondered a few things. Like Romita doing the cover for Daredevil 16 while Steve was still there. Maybe Stan had plans on replacing Steve with John and Steve knew it so he bailed. Just seems like a coincidence it happened right after that cover. And I wonder if when John took over the title if Stan got involved with the plotting and writing much more if not nearly entirely, at least for a while. John was such a good artist and even though he said in interviews that he didn't want ASM at the time he was probably pretty aware what an opportunity it was. I doubt if Stan gave him storylines he would have said no to them.
  14. I read a lot of this thread. Good stuff. Read a lot over the years as well. Jack had been creating characters with Joe Simon, hundreds maybe thousands, since 1940. Simon said "Some were bad and some were rotten". So they created a tons that were never even published. In the late 50's I think it's pretty obvious Jack created the majority of the "Monsters". He also created Challengers of the Unknown which are basically super-heroes, timing just wasn't right. So with all that behind him plus the fact that he drew nearly every book minus the Ditkos makes it hard to believe that he didn't create almost every Marvel character from FF 1 onwards. Unless when Stan changed his look he suddenly obtained the abilty to create stories and Characters like a machine after 20 plus years in the business. I'm sure he had input and suggestions that stuck and the man could write dialogue for sure. But it's pretty certain that Jack created probably all the characters he worked on. At the time he was happy to be making good money again and busy as heck working. PS Did Jack ever speak about the circumstances of Steve leaving in any interviews or clips? I never saw him speak of it.
  15. So weird how that works, as soon as the movie or show is released people stop wanting it. Human nature I suppose. Happens every time with every one. Especially a few years back. At this point a lot of these franchises have so many movies and shows coming out that it doesn't really effect much like it did a few years back.
  16. I was just about to post about these before I saw yours. What is the reason 212 sells/sold for so much more than some others. I haven't followed prices on these so I know nothing. If it's mainly because of the cover art on a personal note I like 211 a lot more. Edit: took a few minutes, educated myself. I see the pop numbers and past sales. Big price differences on the Frazetta run that's for sure.
  17. I remember this one because it was a Curator and I love Curators. Got a Teen Beat #1 Curator I'm very fond of. 566k in Feb 2021. Pretty sure it would go for more now. https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?id=1457476
  18. I've never been into autographs on anything. This one just looked good and I didn't expect to win it. I'll probably never own any Kirby OA so this will do fine.
  19. Hey Everyone. Hope all is going great. I received my Marvel Mystery 12 today along with the signed Jack Kirby photo. The photo was an impulse buy but it's actually really nice. Nicely framed and matted. Even has a thick metal strap on the back for easy hanging . And a certificate of authenticity signed by Quentin Eastman . Real happy with the comic too. Nice strong color and clean. The scans don't do it justice. One problem though maybe you guys can help me out. There is a piece of plastic in the holder on the book right next to the L in Marvel. Looks like a broken pin or something like that. 99% sure its not touching the actual paper but I can't have it like this.......just can't do it. So I guess my options are either get it reholdered or regraded. And if I get it regraded maybe I should get it pressed by CCS on the way. There is a little warping on the left bottom and maybe a press could fix that. (It's only noticable when looking at it from a flat view). I never got a GA book pressed and I'm thinking it might be unwise as well as a waste of money. And I guess I'm gonna lose the QES sticker either way. Maybe CC will send me another one. I am totally stoked to have this book though. My scans and the CC scan. The plastic wasn't there when CC scanned it.
  20. I collected only SA/early Bronze for a few decades. When CGC started grading and I started buying them, hundreds of them, I wouldn't touch a cream. And rarely off-white. For the reasons you said.
  21. The 9.2 Tos 39 just took a hit at 108k. Another just sold for 168 and prior to that 144 in 2021.
