  1. Seems like the trade heavy galleries are collectors are wanting to have discussions with other collectors see if they can unearth a new piece or two. I would think it's a pretty good concept, a simple conversation can take you down a path to another nice piece, where as sitting in silence will get you nothing.
  2. Dropped my well deserved morning attaboy comments on some nice pieces on CAF I really enjoy seeing pieces that fit in a collector’s gallery nicely, the dark side of me also enjoy it when people with questionable reputations get the public shunning when they post their killer pieces... you know pieces that would normally get 20 or so comments, when they post get 4 or 5... it’s the collector’s penalty box! I know, Cap would be disappointed in me.... I could use a good ol’ Cap motivational speech right now... I’d need to search up that cool Kirby 70’s Cap vs Red Skull commission. Those piece were “gold, Jerry! GOLD!”... Wonder if Mandel wrote that line?
  3. I would also recommend others to look around your the rest of your CAF gallery.... it is full of gems!
  4. Left my appropriate jaw in the floor comment on your piece. Really a fine Byrne Dr Doom example, happy that you were able to land this bad boy!
  5. Judging from this podcast and his Felix Lu podcast appearance, Scott Dunbier seems like a fun guy to hang out with at a con, a good dude with good stories and one heck of a interesting career in comics. Plus a big thank you goes out to him for his beautiful Artists Editions! Raising a virtual glass to Mr Dunbier!
  6. Be still my heart... when looking at Terry Austin’s inks digging on the far out art of The Tradd someone I don’t have an example of but have been circling it with interest is an artist who named after a beer.... but I don’t drink, that may be why I’m conflicted whats Micheal Golden’s Golden age... could it be Bronze?
  7. New bumper sticker idea... “I Break for COMIC ART! hopefully, I’ll get rear ended.. CHA CHING!“
  8. There are price bumps when characters get a movie or tv series... are there equal price drops when the movie or show sucks (Iron Fist, Defenders, Green Lantern, Birds of Prey ...)? Glad I got to meet some of my comic heroes.. Byrne, Adams, Wrightson and Cockrum .. those where fun times... People doing what they love seem to be happier...
  9. Bumped, because this was exactly the info I was looking for and thought others may benefit from this great thread!
  10. When I see a cool piece pop up that will be snatched up quickly, I ask, do I want it and can afford it? If the answer is no to either, I think which of my collector friends would be interested and I immediately drop them a message with the link to the piece. I do like spending my friends money! Two or three of my cornerstone pieces where passed along to me in the same manner, and I am grateful that my friends were looking out for me. Be active and put the art where it needs to be.
  11. Now please tell me you at least put a plexiglass sheet over the art before you rack em up!
  12. Timely you know how to drop a jaw!!! Congrats to you for being smart, passionate, and persistent enough to put together such a museum quality display of key Ditko art. I tip my hat to you sir with the utmost respect. BRAVO!
  13. I do like his taste in art... it’s impressive collection!
  14. I don’t know... it looks like he has splurged for a heavy duty industrial strength door to help keep the art vultures at bay.
  15. Twanj, just one more bid (the last one) and you would have won it, so close yet so far away! ; ) Still you were much closer to winning than I was.
  16. U-Jay I like your purchases. Can’t beat the X-Men!
  17. I gave myself about a year ban from comic art after I demonstrated ZERO self control back around 2001. I’m so glad I don’t know what missed out on, I’m sure eBay and dealers stopped selling art during my absence
  18. Ankur... THANK YOU! If you can’t be there it’s cool to see these photos for a taste of the floor. I REALLY dig the Byrne Alpha Flight poster art, I’m sure I wouldn’t dig the price tho!
  19. How cool is it that Kirby was sooo prolific, that there is an easy entry point for just about every collector. Imagine what his prices would be if he had modest output... Kirby the gift that just keeps giving!
  20. $3500 for a nice 4 panel action page with Mister Miracle $1850 for a ok non action page with Mister Miracle For just $5350 you could have had a Kirby collection starter kit... I like that period of Kirby and those pages were nice. Were the Kirby Cabal was asleep during that auction?!?
  21. Anyone watch it to the end? If so where did the bidding end. At about 1hr to go the top 3 X-men pages were a respectable 35, 34 and 25k
