  1. Bumped, because this was exactly the info I was looking for and thought others may benefit from this great thread!
  2. When I see a cool piece pop up that will be snatched up quickly, I ask, do I want it and can afford it? If the answer is no to either, I think which of my collector friends would be interested and I immediately drop them a message with the link to the piece. I do like spending my friends money! Two or three of my cornerstone pieces where passed along to me in the same manner, and I am grateful that my friends were looking out for me. Be active and put the art where it needs to be.
  3. Now please tell me you at least put a plexiglass sheet over the art before you rack em up!
  4. Timely you know how to drop a jaw!!! Congrats to you for being smart, passionate, and persistent enough to put together such a museum quality display of key Ditko art. I tip my hat to you sir with the utmost respect. BRAVO!
  5. I do like his taste in art... it’s impressive collection!
  6. I don’t know... it looks like he has splurged for a heavy duty industrial strength door to help keep the art vultures at bay.
  7. Twanj, just one more bid (the last one) and you would have won it, so close yet so far away! ; ) Still you were much closer to winning than I was.
  8. U-Jay I like your purchases. Can’t beat the X-Men!
  9. I gave myself about a year ban from comic art after I demonstrated ZERO self control back around 2001. I’m so glad I don’t know what missed out on, I’m sure eBay and dealers stopped selling art during my absence
  10. Ankur... THANK YOU! If you can’t be there it’s cool to see these photos for a taste of the floor. I REALLY dig the Byrne Alpha Flight poster art, I’m sure I wouldn’t dig the price tho!
  11. How cool is it that Kirby was sooo prolific, that there is an easy entry point for just about every collector. Imagine what his prices would be if he had modest output... Kirby the gift that just keeps giving!
  12. $3500 for a nice 4 panel action page with Mister Miracle $1850 for a ok non action page with Mister Miracle For just $5350 you could have had a Kirby collection starter kit... I like that period of Kirby and those pages were nice. Were the Kirby Cabal was asleep during that auction?!?
  13. Anyone watch it to the end? If so where did the bidding end. At about 1hr to go the top 3 X-men pages were a respectable 35, 34 and 25k
  14. They are some really nice pages I’m surprised someone didn’t crack and buy one!
  15. The Byrne X-Men pages have respectable numbers on them but haven’t hit the reserves yet... a hour left, will they cross the finish line and be sold or go back in the vault???
  16. You know flipping is ok, I’ve move pages around to upgrade myself but usually in a manner that I wouldn’t classified as flip. IF you intend to quick flip, don’t come to the person holding your target page and commence in friendly getting to know you banter and butter em up, telling them that artist x is your favorite artist and would love to add that page to your collection.... ONLY to list it in the next available auction. INSTEAD just ask if they would sell you the page and for how much. Sure you can be nice BUT drop the pretense that you need it for your collection. People are funny, they like honesty, and as slick as you think you are the hobby is a lot smaller than you think, and we REALLY like to talk... just sayin!
  17. I’m bummed, I noticed all their art is graded VF 8.0... I never buy OA that isn’t 9.8 ... ok once I slummed it and bought a 9.6 ; )
  18. Will was doing free simple quickie headshots today from 1:00-1:30 Not sure if he’s doing more tomorrow or not. The one I got was either Batman or She Hulk... I’m not sure, but I didn’t want to offend him by asking ; )
  19. To quote southern comedian James Gregory- “Save Uuuup!”
  20. Congrats on landing a Foxworthy... I had to pass in order to save up for Larry the Cable Guy art ; )
  21. Kirby Cockrum Bill “She Levi has” well that is what spell check put in when I attempted to type Bill S’ name without looking it up. All are insanely good artists. I started to come around to appreciate their work in my early 20’s... hey get off my back I was a dumb kid!
  22. While it’s understandable a lot of you are fired up about Hulk’s chest hair.... I guess one could say Byrne’s X-Men art is my Hulk’s chest hair! That era of X-Men pages always kick an auction’s excitement level up a notch in my book. No, I’m not a player but I do enjoy seeing others chase after em.
