  1. Hey guys great job on the art postings there are some really strong pieces!
  2. Who knows maybe I am Eddie Murphy... “Pokey where’s my DARN CIGAR, find it or I’m sending you to the glue factory!”
  3. Nice page! When I think of this period of X-Men, Mohawk Storm is what comes to mind, JR Jr really did a nice job on this page, very attractive drawing of Storm... way to keep the ball rolling. Congrats!!! Just curious when you put these in the portfolio how do you arrange the pages?
  4. G Ape bring plenty of bananas... comic art ain’t cheap!
  5. The thread of the undead. The thread you can’t kill... the pages crawl their way out of the swamps and cellars from all over this wicked world, as long as this thread is alive you need to sleep with one eye open.... BAAAAAHAAW In other words great job keep em coming surely that’s not all of the evil pages screaming to get out of your portfolio!
  6. By newer, you talking pre fifty? Might could find a 46 year old somewhere in the hobby. I kid! I know there is a range but sure seems like 70-80% of us hit somewhere right around the 50 year old demographic. It would be nice to hear their thoughts, I know when Felix has some younger collectors on his podcast it was very informative. I second that, bring in the new ones... just for one episode, we like our original crew!
  7. I’m feeling like there should be a Ditko horror page represented in this thread... what bout it someone hook me up....
  8. VEEERY NICE! This one has it all... wooooospooky!! The older I get the more impressed I am with the art of Gil Kane, I really do love his covers this one is outstanding!
  9. All right evidently the Ape called for more exciting posts... what can get your blood pumping more than horror art. Post your Wrightsons, Frazettas, Kelley Jones and whoever else is trying to scare the pants off of ya! Bring out the MONSTERS... BAHAAAAHAAAA!!! me I got nothing.
  10. Barry Windsor Smith - a Machine Man, Weapon X or X-Men example would be nice to add Art Adams- I’m pretty sure Art’s new art is better - and that’s saying something! Jack Kirby- I dig his run on Cap during his return to Marvel. Kirby/Royer were an outstanding art team. Those are my big voids. My next tier down would be - Neal Adams, Michael Golden and Wrightson. In the join the club category, I too would like a page from John Buscema’s Conan and Sal’s Hulk (small minor page(s) would be fine). While I’m trying to thin the heard of abundant art, give me a Davis’ Garfield daily too. I gonna leave off one artist that I am fixing to check off my list, so it won’t remind one of you to do the same and you scoop up the page I have my eye on ; )
  11. While wading in the conciousness stream today I started wondering If Trimpe = Tuesday Barry Winsor Smith = Thursday then ________________ must be FRIDAY!!! FRIDAY is the MAC DADDY DAY... who's your MAC DADDY ARTIST?? (hint, mine drew my avatar)
  12. Seems like the trade heavy galleries are collectors are wanting to have discussions with other collectors see if they can unearth a new piece or two. I would think it's a pretty good concept, a simple conversation can take you down a path to another nice piece, where as sitting in silence will get you nothing.
  13. Dropped my well deserved morning attaboy comments on some nice pieces on CAF I really enjoy seeing pieces that fit in a collector’s gallery nicely, the dark side of me also enjoy it when people with questionable reputations get the public shunning when they post their killer pieces... you know pieces that would normally get 20 or so comments, when they post get 4 or 5... it’s the collector’s penalty box! I know, Cap would be disappointed in me.... I could use a good ol’ Cap motivational speech right now... I’d need to search up that cool Kirby 70’s Cap vs Red Skull commission. Those piece were “gold, Jerry! GOLD!”... Wonder if Mandel wrote that line?
  14. I would also recommend others to look around your the rest of your CAF gallery.... it is full of gems!
  15. Left my appropriate jaw in the floor comment on your piece. Really a fine Byrne Dr Doom example, happy that you were able to land this bad boy!
  16. Judging from this podcast and his Felix Lu podcast appearance, Scott Dunbier seems like a fun guy to hang out with at a con, a good dude with good stories and one heck of a interesting career in comics. Plus a big thank you goes out to him for his beautiful Artists Editions! Raising a virtual glass to Mr Dunbier!
  17. Be still my heart... when looking at Terry Austin’s inks digging on the far out art of The Tradd someone I don’t have an example of but have been circling it with interest is an artist who named after a beer.... but I don’t drink, that may be why I’m conflicted whats Micheal Golden’s Golden age... could it be Bronze?
  18. New bumper sticker idea... “I Break for COMIC ART! hopefully, I’ll get rear ended.. CHA CHING!“
  19. There are price bumps when characters get a movie or tv series... are there equal price drops when the movie or show sucks (Iron Fist, Defenders, Green Lantern, Birds of Prey ...)? Glad I got to meet some of my comic heroes.. Byrne, Adams, Wrightson and Cockrum .. those where fun times... People doing what they love seem to be happier...
  20. Bumped, because this was exactly the info I was looking for and thought others may benefit from this great thread!
  21. When I see a cool piece pop up that will be snatched up quickly, I ask, do I want it and can afford it? If the answer is no to either, I think which of my collector friends would be interested and I immediately drop them a message with the link to the piece. I do like spending my friends money! Two or three of my cornerstone pieces where passed along to me in the same manner, and I am grateful that my friends were looking out for me. Be active and put the art where it needs to be.
