I was thinking the Paul Smith X-Men page would have gotten a lot more action. There wasn't that jaw dropping are "You're kiddin me!!!" moment that I've grown used to... which is a nice change!

Heritage posted the scan of the Byrne/Austin X-Men page, it's a very nice page.
Not ALL of the good Byrne X-Men pages are on ebay ; )

Watching the UXM 130 auction... I know everyone approaches auction bidding differently, but there is a special place in hell for those who run in small bid after small bid on large dollar items... like watching a real life Scrooge McDuck bid
These will be fun to watch, 3hrs left… there should be lots of fireworks, with the classic last second bids a flying!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder… man I love Tim Sale’s art and would love to have that Hulk page in my collection!

This is very common and to be honest, I hardly ever notice the cut in panels on first glance.
They don't take away from a page's appeal in my opinion.

This piece is my favorite Teen Titans Perez on CAF. It’s not under commented or under viewed, but it was posted on 07 so some may not be aware of it’s greatness. Sit down before viewing this one is awesome ( link )
From Charley Williamson’s collection.

I like where you guys are taking this thread, I see a lot of attention worthy pieces. CAF is like a massive flat file of art there are a lot of pieces way deep in the pile that people never get to because of the sheer volume of art.
Keep it up, unearth those beauties!

52 Byrne pieces on Heritage ( link ) right now and the best bunch of vintage Byrne pieces on ebay that I can remember ( XMen 130 link XMen 124 link PMIF 50 link IF 3 Link ) if you are a Byrne fan you have many a target. With that many options there could even be a deal to be had ; )
I don't know the sellers... I just can't remember there every being this many pieces up for grabs.
Good luck to all you potential buyers, looks like that one ebay seller is going to be very happy!!!

I was a 25 cent comic book box diver as a kid. Loved finding a gem that was overlooked. In that spirit, I do some deep digs on Comic Art Fans and find jaw dropping pieces that have no where near the views or comments they should. They were posted years ago and faded into the background.
I hope everyone will join in. This is the thread for you to post a link to the piece and maybe an image to bring it some well deserved renewed attention. If you like a piece you see in the thread drop a comment on it as you would if it was newly listed.
Here are my two spotlight submissions from Zaddick L gallery:
-Dave Cockrum Foom cover from 1975 featuring the X-Men!
https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=168797
-John Byrne Marvel Calendar X-Men Piece from 1980
https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=168811
So if you come across a piece that seems to be buried on CAF for whatever reason and deserves a spotlight here’s the thread for you. Talk em up as much as you like.

I’m often struck by how many covers just sit there, not jumping out at me, definitely not making me pick it up and flip through it… kinda sad for sure.
BUT on the positive side I keep going to the LCS searching.
Here’s my rough superstar list (your mileage may vary)Kirby
Adams
Sternako
BWS
Byrne
Miller
Perez
Golden
Art Adams
Jim Lee
McFarlane
After Lee and McFarlane, who came along a sparked the comic fans interest?!?
Sure there are new creators that comic art collectors like, but are there names that the general comic fans seek out and seek out everything they create like happened with Byrne and McFarlane… where are the new superstars? It’s been a while.

Agreed, although it should have a bit of a discount built in for being a page that wasn't inked by Austin... Byrne/Villamonte isn't the art dream team.
