  1. I just post links, i don't read more than 2 sentences into them. You're in Canada, they would probably give you a stern talking to and revoke your Tim Horton's privileges for a week.
  2. This seller happens to be in New York. The federal wire fraud statute probably applies too and many states have laws similar to the Donnelly Act.
  3. Don't shill in the UK!!: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/man-fined-bidding-his-own-online-auctions-2018849.html Here are the NY prosecutions from 16 years ago: https://ag.ny.gov/press-release/2004/shill-bidding-exposed-online-auctions But yeah, it doesn't happen often
  4. It is an admirable hobby and the evidence here is pretty solid. With that said, finding undergraded books on ebay and here is part of the hunt, so I don't think we're under some sort of obligation to say "This VF/NM book was undergraded as a Fine by the guy I bought it from who may or may not have graded all his books "Fine" just to avoid hassles." I'm not even sure one has a moral obligation to mention a book's prior slab grade ... with that said, 7.5 to 9.4 is a stretch in any reality and if nearly every slab someone buys gets significantly upgraded raw, it is scamtastic. With that said, I've bought books on ebay and here that were undergraded a tick or two and I had no issue selling them at what I thought the grade was and nobody ever complained and the other way aroundtoo: The Fine - /5.5 B&B 28 I bought from Metropolis was sold as a 4.5-5.0. Wish I had kept it (and I a not ripping Metropolis, the scan was accurate, I didn't think it was a 5.5 when I bought it, but the price was so good I didn't care, and maybe they don't put much weight on things like chipping).
  5. the books in the original listing all look wayyy better than "Good" (and he says Good or better) and the seller does not say they have those defects, just that they could have those defects. It sounds like the original seller is undergrading to be safe: "I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL GRADER, HOWEVER, THE MAJORITY OF ISSUES ARE IN GOOD CONDITION OR BETTER, WHICH IS: A GD copy has major defects, but is still complete and readable. A GD copy will have a significant amount of damage, usually an accumulation of smaller defects punctuated with some major defects. Acceptable defects on a GD copy include: A vertical book-length crease, 1.5"-2" spine split, cover or centerfold completely detached, major tears, heavy discoloration/brittleness due to oxidation, heavy amounts of staining, residue, and water damage." ... He basically copied the overstreet definition of good. Indeed, he does the same for all of his lots, even modern comics that are likely high grade: https://www.ebay.com/itm/DARK-HORSE-CRUSADE-SHI-COMICS-LOT-OF-12-VARIED-ISSUES/124450126681?hash=item1cf9ce3b59:g:IE0AAOSwHHtfuBv9 And he prices the lots (and sells them) for a lot more than "good" prices. So, I'm not sure these batman books are the best example. With that said, the shilling you seem to be illuminating is illegal, not just under NY law. I tried to report some rampant big $ shilling to ebay a few years ago and they just ignored me.
  6. I had lunch with stan a few years ago (we are distant relatives) and he was kind enough to sign about 8,000 dollar box books for me. great guy. I miss cousin stan so much. That's my story and I am sticking to it.
  7. I see mauve or lavender. Not pink. Pink is white and red. Those colors have some blue in them.
  8. top right corner looks a little different. might he have pressed the book a bit? while yes, 7.5 to 9.4 is a big jump, CGC is not the word of G-D, I have a 7.0 from them and I don't know why it is not a 9.2. And I've had 9.4s that look like 8.0s. Not sure how it would be a 9.4 as presented though.
  9. I feel bad for the comic shop owner who doesn't know to try and get maybe $10-$15 or more for the first one and more than $1 for second one (but that's a closer call) or who can't because he/she doesn't have the customers who spend $. On the other hand, maybe they saw there are some low sales at $3-$5 (mixed with double digit ones) and they just say "F-it" and toss it in the cheap box (when did 571 pick up? I feel like I looked that up a couple of years ago and was disappointed it was going for $5 and less). I do appreciate not trying to squeeze every buck, but most of these guys are struggling. And my guess is that many just refuse to supplement selling on line. If you're not going to do that for $15+ books, you'd better have the customers.
  10. I really wonder how much value a frank junior COA has: https://www.cbr.com/lawsuit-filed-in-bitter-family-fight-over-frank-frazetta-artwork/
  11. trillions of them? weren't there a million copies printed between the 1st and reprints? and i doubt unsold newsstand copies were returned because they didn't go unsold. the 1st print is incredibly common as it is, it is only worth something because of what it is. i have owned 10-15 copies of this book over the years (not the reprints, which i tend to avoid). i did not pay more than $5 for any of them and most were $1-$2 (all purchased before force awakens and maybe the prequels, mostly in the mid 90s)
  12. Is this a new thing?? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hulk-16-Awesome-Red-She-Hulk-1st-Appearance-NM-Beauty-Wow-/402461283908?hash=item5db48fd644%3Ag%3Aml4AAOSw2NVfcRfR&nma=true&si=BZbpsjZvXBDBh7scMVfgI%2BAabNw%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 because i remember looking this book up not that long ago (pre-covid though) because it has a good cover and figured it might be worth something and being very disappointed... like sales at cover price or less...or am I hallucinating and remembering it wrong and this has been worth something for a while? Edit: OK, I guess Disney made some announcement in October? as I see tons of $29.99 BINs on the book around then? And $65 is a bit on the high side. But still not a $3 book.
  13. I have tried selling those variants for a premium. Unsuccessfully. Nobody even gives a lowball offer. Maybe one day the market will care.
  14. They're not really wearing pink, so I'm kind of thinking the innuendo was intentional
  15. the later prints are not really considered the 1st appearance. case in point, the second ("gold") print of NM 87, which is maybe a $5-$10 book on a good day. the 2d, 3rd, etc. prints start mattering more when they have different covers and/or really low print runs and it is a genuine challenge to hunt them down. and you don't know if there will ever be a second print or if anyone will care about it. some second prints are much bigger than the first, particularly for an overlooked or underordered book. as for your hulk 181 facsimile, it may have had a lower print run (and remember, 181 was sold only via newsstand version, so I believe it was all returnable, so maybe 50% of the run was returned and pulped, absent some mile high type scamming), but there are vastly more high grade copies hanging around, and probably more copies in general as comics get destroyed over the course of 45 years. and it is also the badjillionth reprint of the story anyway, 45 years later. a little while ago i was very excited when i came across a grimm fairy tales 1 in my unsorted boxes of I have fished out of dollar boxes over the years. well, that $75-100 in hand quickly turned into $15-$20 (maybe) when I opened it up and saw it was the second print.
  16. So nobody cares about the 1st app of Elsa's dad 25 years earlier I take it? That's the one I have a few of, of course.
  17. cheaper directly from gemini, look at my other posts. you may want to go via ebay for other reasons, i dunno. i did ebay last tine because i either had ebay bucks or a coupon or somethingf.
  18. Sooo many copies. But it will bounce back next deadpool movie. A lot of deadpool stuff is quiet right now.
  19. As I am using 2 pieces of cardboard (often thick ones) inside as a sandwhich I am not concerned, but if you go the no sandwhich route, the hotflips one is better, but 30+ cents more a pop....
  20. I am looking at what hotflips has on their website. It looks identical to the gemini mailer, except it does not say gemini on it. do you think it is made from a higher grade carboard? Because it costs 50% more.
  21. If you are using enough extra comic boards, etc., that should suffice too. As the boards cost me 10 cents each and my wife is constantly getting huge boxes shipped to the house I need to break down anyway for recycling, ever couple of months I cut a bunch up. If I ever started selling 50, 100 items a month it might become and issue.
