  1. So does tofu. Alcohol makes many people violent. Weed makes people eat pizza and take a nap.
  2. Whatever. If EVS thinks that half the comic shops folding won't drag the whole industry he is kidding himself. Many folks get into comics wandering into a shop, checking out the releases, etc. It may be years before they order self-published stuff. And some folks will lose interest without a shop to go to. I understand that is less so than 25 years ago, but it is still a thing. Shrinking customer base with fewer new folks. Quite literally the only reason I am into comics now is that on my walk home from law school in 1993 there was a comic shop with a decent back issue selection I would check out a couple of times a week. It rekindled whatever I had lost interest in around 1985/86.
  3. You are setting yourself up for a second career writing corona parody songs. Has anyone heard the one done by the guy to adelle's song: http://www.justjared.com/2020/04/03/the-voice-alum-chris-mann-makes-hilarious-quarantine-themed-parodies-watch-his-spoof-of-adeles-hello/
  4. We're not there yet. That will be Monday's total. Right now the whole state is at 3000 dead.
  5. I have an n95 I had in the basement (still in plastic) I did not use for a wood sanding project that I have been wearing. As I only go to places like the store once or so a week I give it time to self clean in between wearings. But this may now change as they want us to wear one when outside even when you aren't near anyone. I agree the outside part is nuts. I guess this is from the research that says in some hypothetical scenario covid19 can float in the air a while, so someone 100 yards away can sneeze, it shoots 27 feet, suspends in air for a while, and then you walk into it. Also, sometimes its hard to force others to distance from you. I found myself walking in the street a bunch yesterday.
  6. He is a libertarian I'd guess. I have libertarian friends who keep on insisting this is all b.s. and an attempt at government grabbing control and never relinquishing it. I'm still staying inside. 562 people just died in 24 hours in my home state. That ain't no flu. I will do my 2 mile walk, but now we are being told to wear masks even if socially distancing? It is going to suck doing it in my dirty n95.
  7. None of my bids won! Only one or two I kind of regret tossing more out there. I guess the market is not so terrible for what I was bidding on (GA and SA slabs).
  8. I play on NYC public courses. There is no maintenance being done, no watering, none of that. Maybe a little prep work in the beginning of the season to get the dead animals off the course ? (and since lawn guys and gardeners have been deemed "essential" in my neck of the woods..). Maybe in some dry place where you need tons of water pumped in this needs to be done? Maybe there shouldn't be golf in Arizona? I understand the initial post was about Michigan. Why would a Michigan golf course need watering? Isn't there still half an inch of ice to melt down? I manage to keep a pretty lush lawn just watering the thing occasionally in july an august. Why would Michigan need watering? Arizona, Palm Springs, I understand. I know, I'm not a golf course expert, but it seems they can be mowed before people are let on whenever that is, mid may or june or whatever. they can make some money now pre-selling june and july tee times at a discount? I'd buy some half price golf at my local course in advance.
  9. While cgc is certainly non essential it seems they can continue to function with partial staff far apart etc. Is it more dangerous than a grocery run? Accepting a food delivery? Wait they may need to do is put 3-4 days in between each stage of review.
  10. Because recklessly creating a lethal situation like this is serious too?
  11. Fine. It looks like my mother is likely out of the woods. The miracle 82 year old with a million other health problems. Happy? I'm relieved.
  12. This is still 'Murica where it is in the Constitution that we can go off topic. As much a right as me owning owning an AK47.
  13. Oil prices in the krapper can't help Canadians either (or at least those in related industries).
  14. It will be gotten under control by then, likely a vaccine, but we'll all be worrying about Covid22 or whatever the next horror show is. We got lucky with SARS and MERS. Swine flu killed 10,000 or so people, but it didn't have remotely the same hospitalization rate as this. If 15% of the 60 million people who apparently got swine flu had to be hospitalized the system would have broken. That's the terrifying part here.
  15. I am throwing out TONS of bids and am high bidder with under 10 hours to go on many. I don't expect to win any of the auctions though. It's a bit like 2000-2002 when I made a huge number of lowball bids on (usually low and mid-grade) GA and early SA slabs. Picked up some great deals, lost 99% of the auctions. That's cool. Don't want to actually win all these auctions as my paycheck in 2 weeks might be delayed.
  16. I eat a lot of broccoli and other ruffage. It is necessary because I also eat 1-2 pounds of meat on most days. I'm gonna toot.
  17. I went for a nice 2 mile walk with my teenager yesterday. He had finally gotten a bit stir crazy and needed out. Plus there was sun, although still a little chilly.... alas week 3 of work from home has not been so productive. I was really good for weeks 1-2, did a lot, helped I had 2 briefs due Friday.
  18. Cabbage was 27 cents a pound last month. I loaded up. I'm the only one in the house who will eat it though. I make a bone broth cabbage soup, lots of curry and ginger. dee-lish.
  19. "people in NY and elsewhere that depend on mass transit have some measure of time to themselves they can be at least personally productive, working, reading, etc," During peak rush hour I am lucky to have enough elbow room to look at my phone. I wish I could be productive. There is a reason we have a terrible covid19 rate right now, up until 2 weeks ago most of us were commuting on trains on top of each other. Starting in march I started leaving the house at 10 to avoid some of the crowds on the train (and I tend to leave a bit late) and it mostly worked to keep me 4-6 feet away from others, but when I had to leave at 8:30 a.m. one day it was bad.
  20. I do not miss my 90-120 daily minute commute on the corona train though.
  21. yup, I feel the same way. My wife is putting in 12 hour days. And now my paycheck isn't coming because of some budget approval hijinx, although that should only last a week or two...I hope.
  22. what is the page color on the defenders 10? can I see a pic?
  23. I did intermittent fasting for about 2 months this year. One meal a day and such. I lost a lot of weight doing it. But I was active. Just going to work and getting kids to school, etc. results in me walking 3-4 miles a day. Working from home? uhg
  24. I suppose, but I'm not really starving, and my body ought to know it has 130 pounds of blubber to eat later.... That was all pretty filling (the soup had half a head of cabbage and used bone broth stock). I also had a pint of bone broth too. And like 5 cups of coffee.
