  1. Buy a nice looking ASM 137, under $20, including shipping: https://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Amazing-Spider-Man-137-Oct-1974-Marvel-very-nice-will-grade-very-nicely-/274729095978?epid=85416145&hash=item3ff721532a%3Ag%3AlwQAAOSwenBgWAMX&nma=true&si=BZbpsjZvXBDBh7scMVfgI%2BAabNw%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Or "slum it" and get a nice ASM 317 for $20 and under. An awful lot of killer venom covers for $53: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Marvel-Venom-2011-1-6-8-And-9-Comic-Book-Lot-Rick-Remender-/393161785456?hash=item5b8a44c070%3Ag%3ASBUAAOSwCl5gOn-c&nma=true&si=BZbpsjZvXBDBh7scMVfgI%2BAabNw%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 There's a ton of stuff out there for folks who don't focus on what is hot. After Valiantman's tutorial on Elfquest books I went out and bought some. cheap. That's a long term play, plus a little childhood nostalgia.
  2. Looks like I missed my chance to retire early on deadpool rookie cards
  3. huh? he did the cover to 8 and 11 and did some of the pencils in 8 at least? He has an incentive to pump both books, given that 11 has deadpool on the cover you'd think that in itself would help him sell sigs yeah, the whole thing perplexes me, because #8 is most clearly not the fake Domino, right? It is the real one in a flashback and she is on the cover, and I think she is in enough of the book that it isn't really a cameo? it's the whole gambit thing again, except at least gambit is not on the cover and barely has a role in the x-men annual
  4. If you don't count the magazines, MTU was the first spidey title after ASM, followed by Spidey Super Stories. not to mention Marvel Tales . I'm cool if it goes up though, i have like 5 of them, but so does everyone else. In this market, anything is possible. I have scanned up 316s for sale over and over and didn't get around to it. I think i sold one here for not enough a while back. glad I was too lazy to list the ones I have. Right now, surprisingly, a chunk of BA spideys seem to be a bit flat. Supply might be an issue, but when has that ever mattered?
  5. my account is from 1999. maybe they didn't push it.
  6. I can't deduce anything from those pics of books in polybags. I'd never assume anything is better than VF anyway. My point is, worthless junk can now be turned into a 9.8 and is worth a nice chunk. There is no ratio. Plenty of similarly worthless stuff is only "worth" $30-50 in 9.8. Quite possibly it only occurred to two people to slab that particular book (too lazy to look in the census).
  7. yeah, for the last year the 9 year old has pretty much been influenced by youtubers I would like to murder
  8. they're requiring it? I've been getting paid by paypal? Is it if you hit a certain thresshold? I'm a smaller seller than you.
  9. Even putting aside potential differences in the raw grade between sellers, this is totally a book by book analysis. There are books where I see raw "high grade" copies, surprisingly, selling for 40-50% of slabbed 9.8 prices (spawn 174 might be an example), and other books where the 9.8 is 100X what we see raw "high grade" copies selling for (now that so many 9.8s seem to have crossed into the $250 range, when that used to be a big deal) https://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spider-man-Annual-27-CGC-9-8/353428402113?hash=item5249f96fc1:g:a~oAAOSw2ndgV9R- https://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spider-Man-Annual-27-CGC-9-8-First-Appearance-of-Annex-/224390598295?hash=item343eb8ce97%3Ag%3ApoAAAOSwT-RgUsKn&nma=true&si=BZbpsjZvXBDBh7scMVfgI%2BAabNw%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 ($300 sale) https://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spider-Man-Annual-27-Marvel-1993-NEW-SEALED-1st-Appearance-of-Annex/323681450364?hash=item4b5ceaf97c:g:IewAAOSwB0lcWS32 https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMAZING-SPIDER-MAN-ANNUAL-27-BAGGED-W-Cards-MARVEL-COMICS-1993-NM/353258556319?hash=item523fd9cb9f:g:q2AAAOSwNmVfnh4~ this happens to be one egregious example, but there are plenty more where you see that $15 "super high grade" copies raw and a CGC 9.8 20-50X more
  10. Is "potty" a good thing now? Or are you thinking like "explosive" potty?
  11. is this managed payments or something? i missed that class in between underwater basketweaving and underwater feminist literary theory in kollege
  12. your fees are the same either way, no? do you think some folks may opt out of the shipping/insurance and pick it up in person? more expensive stuff I just build it into the price. less expensive stuff, no. and then I forget to take the "free shipping" off the next item i list and wind up accidentally selling an $8 book and including free shipping. oops. and, fyi, folks are not impressed with the edumakation here. half the dorks here work in finance, are doctors, lawyers, or engineers. the other half are plumbers who make more than all of them.
  13. people opening pokeman packs in huge entertainment on the youtube
  14. My 9 year old was pretty obsessed with it a couple of years ago. Some of his friends were. It is more about getting chase cards than playing, although he would play a little. What a waste of money though. The chase cards have probably been trashed by now. The 15 year old was similar at 9. Last year his main exercise was Pokeman go and wandering around. He'd get like 10,000 steps in during his hunting sessions.
  15. Seems like 211 (which is not longer cheap), would be more desireable, but yeah, i guess it doesn't link in to a movie, and terrax looks too much like darkseid and maybe thanos, confusing to people. The Tick (cartoon's) version of Galactus, Omnipotus, was pretty funny:
  16. why that book? just because it was the first time the avengers fought galactus? but yes, i suppose a lot of stuff is a good bet if you can get a nice copy for a buck, maybe two.
  17. I am not seeing that much action on most of these books other than some Galactus issues (why is 243 so popular?) and she hulk joining. Granted, Byrne did a bunch of those. But most of the other stuff is still in the $3-7 range. I just stopped buying them when I saw them because I had so many and there just seemed to be an endless supply as they were so popular. At the very least I should have been keeping a careful eye out for the really high grade ones, although, frankly, for the ones that have really popped (like 243), they don't need to be It is getting overwhelming. Are these books popping because Galactus might be a villian in some avengers movie in 5 years?
  18. I get it, it isn't an issue that is popping this minute. I am on the fence with some of the captain americas I have on deck. A few are obviously directly impacted by the show, but some of the Cap/Falcon books are more of general interest. I don't know if they're better as auctions or store items. I get all these auctions every month I feel like i should use them. Occasiobally a hot book gets bid up beyond what i would have priced it at or accepted an offer early on, like when i sold all my Eternal 1s.
  19. Nothing of note from saturday's visit. the shop in question has done little to update their 50 cent boxes since the last time I pillaged. Not a high priority for them. I did pull a complete set of george romero toe tags 1 -6 nice and bagged and boarded for $3. I guess the joe 221 and 52 week 23 are worth a few bucks. i love getting the complete series of anything though.
  20. when I looked it up a month ago it seemed like a viable $20-25 books, but mine was signed so I tossed it out there and sold it for a nice price well beyond that. But now the price I got for the signed copy is at the low end for unsigned raws, all in 3 weeks. I have another copy, so that's going up. I think it helps that this is the first U.S. comic appearance outside of the free underwear comic. There was a long thread on that. Of course, power rangers is not exactly a property that means anything in comics.
  21. My tuition in law school in 1994 was $18K a year. Now tuition there is $64K a year. My first apartment (a small studio) on my own in 1997 was $650 a month. It would be $2000 now. But yeah, my first laptop in 1996 cost $1500, refurbished, it was 1/1000th as good as my $600 laptop now. Gas was $1.11 a gallon. A lot of big ticket things are up a lot more than the "official" inflation rate (a figure that is suppressed for political reasons and to keep COLAs on entitlements lower), some stuff is down.
  22. That one has doubled or tripled for raws in like a month. Do they think they are going to make a Power Rangers movie that someone over 8 will be able to watch?
  23. 25 cent box stuff like that is now popping and a classic book like this in nice shape sells for $11?: https://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Amazing-Spider-Man-137-Oct-1974-Marvel-very-nice-will-grade-very-nicely-/274729095978?epid=85416145&hash=item3ff721532a%3Ag%3AlwQAAOSwenBgWAMX&nma=true&si=BZbpsjZvXBDBh7scMVfgI%2BAabNw%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 The world is upside down.
