  1. Can we add a DROOL emoticon to the board?
  2. Love this cover. I have the Diamond Selects statue of it. Keep the pics coming!
  3. He's a cordial and gracious guy at the cons I've seen him attend. Do yourself a favor and attend his panel(s) if he's doing them. It'll be well worth your time. His books were the foundation of my comic consumption from junior high through college.
  4. Also, a big thank-you to all the boardies whose booths my nephew and I stopped by. You were not lying when you said you were bringing the Spawn! My nephew is down to single digits now for a complete run (sans variants), and he also picked up a Malibu Sun #13 raw. I managed to pick up a nice copy of the C2E2 Star Wars Luke Skywalker black-and-white action figure variant and original Star Wars #7 in high grade to go with the Alex Ross recreated version. There were a bunch of others too. My nephew was jazzed to get Greg Capullo to sign his 12" and 6" NIP Gunslinger Spawn figures. That was probably the highlight of the weekend for him.
  5. I got a couple sketches done by Ashley Witter at the show. In CGC's hands now, but here's a couple snaps before I turned them over.
  6. My nephew and I are driving up Thursday afternoon, to hit town by around 7:00pm or so. We're staying just a couple blocks from the convention center, so we'll happily hoof it even if there's snow. Really looking forward to this.
  7. When I took my son to meet him, we were all herded through the long line like cattle. I watched dozens in front of me have their books pushed in front of Stan who cranked out his sig without so much as looking up at them. I could see the disappointment in many of their faces. Determined to elicit some type of response, I thanked him as he signed my books with, "Thanks from a long-time True Believer." Yeah, kind of weak I know, but he did stop, look at me, and give an "Excelsior!" exclamation, much to the delight of my son and some of the people around us.
  8. With my artistic ability, that would take me about 1000 hours, and it probably still wouldn't look as good. Thanks for sharing that. Jones is fun to meet, so enjoy that experience.
  9. I've seen him a few times and he's never charged, but I wasn't getting the sigs witnessed for CGC.
  10. I guess I'm not as particular, because I've been looking for my knocked-off socks for awhile now.
  11. I'll second the ask (and ask if anybody is taking submissions) for this one. There are a couple Star Wars actors I'd like to get sigs on comics.
  12. Mark Brooks added. Wowzers. They're really putting together great talent.
  13. Jason Momoa, Danny Trejo, Jerome Flynn (GoT - Bronn) on the entertainment side of things added. Marguerite Bennett, Brian Azzarello, Frank Cho on the creator side of things added.
  14. From a fan standpoint, I had a great time. The celebrity lineup wasn't even a draw for us, with the exception of the rare Midwest appearance by Kevin Smith. The creator talent was excellent, especially for a show this size. I was happily surprised when Kevin Smith popped into the scheduled Green Arrow panel with Phil Hester and Ande Parks, and he was gracious enough to pose for photos and sign a few things afterward for the modest crowd that attended the panel. I got my Green Arrow : Quiver hardcover/slipcased edition signed there on the spot. Also, got a chance to meet sfrenchenterprises at his CGC booth. Got some Batman 24s signed by Finch, a Star Wars 1 by Jason Aaron, and had a sketch cover by Adelso Corona witnessed/graded. He also hooked me up with a 2nd copy of the Green Arrow: Quiver book signed by Smith/Hester/Parks.
  15. Anybody know if CGC or another 3rd-party grading company will be here? They really have put together a pretty impressive list of artists, and there are 3-4 I'd love to have a sketch certified.
  16. LOVE that Witter sketch. Her Doctor Aphra covers are gorgeous. Color me jealous. Wish I could've found the time for this one.
  17. I enjoyed the show quite a bit, as did my nephew and his buddies that tagged along. Everybody in our group founds lots of goodies. Nephew filled out his Spawn collection, even picking up a Phoenix Comic Con limited edition (500 print run) cover slabbed 9.8 with a cool cover by Michael Golden / Todd McFarlane. That was his "big get" for the show. I picked up a boatload of blank sketch covers from multiple vendors, and a few more goodies (ASM 700 collage cover, Darth Vader 3 1st print) from mysterio's booth. I struck out in my quest for Star Wars action figure variants (slabbed or raw) that I didn't already have, but I did pick up a few odds and ends like some Granov ASM covers and some Alex Ross Star Wars covers. We also ate at a local diner and visited BOOM comics before we blew town.
  18. I'm part of the crowd that has thus far been able to resist creating a Facebook profile. Crossing fingers they'll update the website soon. Thanks for the initial heads-up.
  19. Had my tickets in Monday's mail. Sorry for delayed post. Looking forward to this. Going to miss the preview though.
  20. That's a relief to hear. Thanks for the update. I'll be checking my mailbox like I was waiting for a secret decoder ring.
