  1. This is the route to go. Just be aware there's a minimum number of books to submit at a single time if you opt to use pre-screen services. Here's a link from CGC's website: https://www.cgccomics.com/services/prescreen/ Good luck!
  2. As soon as you see "Finalized / Imaged / Shipped" in your submission status. You will be able to click the link on your invoice number on the left to see the actual grades; the link for the aforementioned phrase takes you to package tracking.
  3. X-ray specs? You were probably seven years past the Sea Monkeys stage by that time.
  4. I enjoy so many different artists' covers, but these hold a special place in my collection for a variety of reasons. Finally got to meet JTC at Star Wars Celebration (previous SWCs he was always away from the booth when I stopped by). I'm a bigger fan now than before.
  5. Lots of places sell an RJ-45 (a little bit larger in size than "phone ethernet" - phone connector is actually an RJ- 11) to USB adapter. Here's a link to one on Amazon that is USB 3.0 and 10/100/1000 ethernet: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-1000-Gigabit-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B00M77HMU0/ref=asc_df_B00M77HMU0/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167140037427&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6701102665264457106&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9017953&hvtargid=pla-195027879195&psc=1 Hope this helps.
  6. Just goes to show us even if a celebrity is seemingly ubiquitous at conventions not to take their appearances for granted. I'll treasure my various interactions with him.
  7. The Fisher definitely looks legit. That's my name! I wish I'd seen this.
  8. Is that an eBay item number? I tried to look it up and didn't find anything.
  9. I understand both your points. I've got some celebrity signed books from various film and television franchises, but creators are usually my primary focus. That said, I've got a decent collection started of actor-signed action figure variants for the Star Wars comics that's become my primary focus. Those covers combine my love for my original figures (without the hassles of storing said figures), meeting (most) of the actors in person that had such a huge impact on my youth, sometimes getting to hear behind-the-scenes stuff I've never read or heard before, or even just getting health updates on actors who had to cancel because so many of these guys live in proximity to each other in the UK and remain friends either because of interactions during filming or forming those relationships years later on the convention circuit. There's a "thrill of the hunt" element to obtaining some of the lesser known or uncredited actors who filled the roles of minor characters or creatures or puppeteered various characters before the days of CGI. Some of the original trilogy actors have sadly passed or have retired from the convention scene for health reasons, so sometimes it's a race against the clock. Obviously, I can't go to every con, so facilitators have been a big help; many times, I've had the pleasure of meeting the actors on previous occasions where I only got an 8X10 signed because I didn't know about Signature Series until long after I started attending cons, so at least I'm not missing out on that part of the experience with having the signatures facilitated.
  10. Are there any board members attending that could act as a CGC facilitator? I'd only be looking at a single guest, but getting multiple copies signed. I appreciate any offers.
  11. I had two each of these done. All four came back 9.8s. One of the Michael Carter's was signed in silver, the one shown here in black. Both Mark Dodson's on the Jabba cover are nearly identical.
  12. 96 pages, so thicker than Action 1000 (at 80), but it's also $2 more retail ($9.99 vs $7.99, unless it's a store variant where they're charging $20-$30 or more a pop right out of the gate).
  13. Four modern Signature Series (fast track) RECEIVED 03/05/2019. Scheduled for grading 03/06/2019 Credit card charged (a positive sign) - still scheduled for grading 03/12/2019 Grading / Quality Control - 03/13/2019 Shipped - 03/14/2019
  14. Not sure if this is appropriate on a comics forum, but I've had a family member all of a sudden want to attend this event as well. As previously stated, the 5-day passes sold out in two days' time. If anybody has an extra or is unable to attend, today (March 8th) is the last day to edit the name and email address on the order to match the buyer (otherwise, you have to physically exchange the badges). If you have one and want to PM to work out arrangements before tonight's deadline passes, please let me know. I will be unavailable to respond to PMs from about 18:30 (Central time) to about 21:00 or so because I'm taking my son to see Captain Marvel tonight.
  15. My error. I misread his post. You're absolutely correct. They're notes added by the person whose registry entry it is, such as designating who signed a yellow label book, pedigree, and other identifiers.
  16. I'm pretty sure those are the winners of previous years' Best in Set Type awards.
  17. "I assume your package will be handled by somebody who is will treat it like a gorilla treats American Tourister luggage, and I pack accordingly." Funny how sometimes we give away our ages when we don't intend to. Younger people won't get this reference at all, but it made me laugh. Didn't mean to derail your thread, so back to our regularly scheduled program.
  18. @InvaderZim73 I bought a book I consider a grail (Star Wars #1 black/white C2E2 sketch variant Luke Skywalker action figure) from him. He was open to time payments, so appreciated for a budget buster like this one. I did manage to cut down the time significantly with the sale of a few of my own books so we could complete the transaction more quickly. Communication was always courteous and professional, letting me know exactly when he'd be able to ship, packing the book extremely carefully. I was thrilled when it arrived in such perfect condition. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from again.
  19. @OV I bought several books from him in a few different transactions after he responded to my WTB thread on Star Wars action figure variant covers. Communication was always professional and courteous, shipping was always done quickly, everything was packed beautifully, and the books were all in perfect condition. They included both blue labels and yellow labels, and he was very fair with pricing and willingness to spread my wants over multiple purchases. He doesn't have his own kudos thread, so I thought posting this here would be appropriate. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from again.
  20. This reminds me of the airbrushed vans that used to cruise around town in the 70s with recreations of Greg Hildebrandt or Frank Frazetta fantasy scenes.
  21. Comics stalwart and all-around nice guy Phil Hester has a friend with a rare form of cancer that needs to fly cross-country for a clinical trial for twelve weeks, with each weekly trip costing $1K. To help defray some those costs, Phil is offering some original art on eBay. So far, he's got a Swamp Thing (unpublished) piece, a page from Red Hood and the Outlaws #25, and a Deadman piece coming soon. Here are the links: Red Hood page: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Batman-vs-Joker-splash-by-Phil-Hester-Ande-Parks/173791584681?hash=item2876c921a9:g:0oQAAOSwGNFcY3n9:rk:1:pf:1&frcectupt=true Swamp Thing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Swamp-Thing-Art-by-Phil-Hester/173789989453?hash=item2876b0ca4d:g:gcwAAOSwJoxcYkkf:rk:6:pf:0 Deadman: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Deadman-Art-by-Phil-Hester/173792875945?hash=item2876dcd5a9:g:Yc8AAOSw78xcZIUX:rk:2:pf:1&frcectupt=true&autorefresh=true
