  1. Also VIP only, as far as I can tell. His is $800. But they are selling separate Photo Ops for Moranis at $310 a pop. Jeez! They've just added Jeff Goldblum on the celebrity side of things. No VIP package (yet), so that won't hurt so much.
  2. Bought a Doctor Aphra variant. It was sent quickly, packaged well, and matched description (hadn't yet posted a scan, but I wasn't disappointed). Thanks again!
  3. Was it an older book or a modern? Are you able to access grader's notes yet?
  4. New submission from Terrificon (thanks Par2ch!): Received at CGC on 08/23/2018 Will update as available.
  5. Had this in my hands for a small while now, but haven't had a chance to scan it until now. I posted the raw version previously.
  6. I've done it a few times. The book usually retains the grade, but not always. Had just one come back a 9.6 after signing (of about 20 submissions I've done this way) and can't really see any significant flaws, so I'm thinking about pressing and resubmitting that one. My secret is using some of the fabulous facilitators on these boards to get sigs on books for shows I'm unable to personally attend. They all definitely know how to handle your books with care, they're pros when it comes to the paperwork, and very reasonable fees (MUCH cheaper than doing the full boat yourself, with con tickets, hotel, travel, food, etc.).
  7. Don't want to derail a sales thread, but that image of Knull looks like Elric of Melnibone, albeit with a red sword instead of black. Dang cool cover.
  8. Waiting is seriously the hardest part of the whole process. That's why much of my CGC collection is eBay buys - the waiting's been done, and no surprises on the grades. Hopefully you'll see some movement soon.
  9. Yes, fast tracked. I think it was probably ready to go on 8/3 to be honest, but probably too close to end of business to get it out, so they waited the weekend. It shows out for delivery today. Don't know if my son will be around to sign for it, so I'll cross fingers he is. Thanks for the birthday wishes!
  10. Sketch cover submitted 7/1/2018 at Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con Received / noted on submission invoice CCS required 7/12/2018 At CCS 7/16/2018 Invoiced / credit card charged by CCS 07/23/2018 Back at CGC / invoiced 07/30/2018 Verified 07/30/2018 Graded 08/03/2018 Shipped 08/06/2018 (CGC 9.8 - yeah!) (And a side note about the board - there's a little birthday cake icon that showed up under my profile today. I've never noticed it on anybody else's before. Kind of cool.)
  11. Too bad there isn't a Halt and Catch Fire comic. Wish I could attend this one. Thanks for posting the update.
  12. Light bends in the cover can be pressed. Depending on the nature of the spine stress (chunks of color missing or white streaks down the spine), a press will most likely not help. The light creases on the cover would benefit from a press as long as they are not color breaking. You might get more response if you posted a high-res scan for the more experienced (that's not me) to scrutinize and add their commentary. With regards to your second comment ("by the lack of reponse..."), don't be too hasty to shut down your own thread.
  13. That was from the Kansas City Comic Con, right? Smith was a surprise guest in the Green Arrow panel at that one. He had much respect for Phil Hester's and Ande Parks' work on that title. He graciously signed a bunch of stuff for people at the end of the panel, including my hardcover/slipcased edition of GA.
  14. No sarcasm whatsoever. I don't really care if there's an occasional smart aleck comment, especially in threads where the veterans here congregate. Some of you know each other in real life or have developed a chidingly antagonistic relationship on the boards. Those threads are fun to read too. I just wanted to commend you both for reigning it in when others are asking for help or advice in the newbie threads.
  15. In reality TV terms, they're the MasterChef Jr version of Gordon Ramsay , not the Hell's Kitchen version .
  16. I read through the newbie threads quite often. While I've off-and-on collected comics since the early 70s as a kid with paper route money to blow, I've only recently within the last 3 years or so started collecting graded books, so I still consider myself a neophyte in those areas. Some of the bigger dealers and facilitators on these boards have been instrumental in helping me build my personal collection, but these two boardies have helped me gain some insight into various CGC-related topics that are invaluable. What sets them apart is their courtesy and genuine offers of advice without the biting sarcasm or snark that sometimes can come when a veteran answers questions that have been asked numerous times before. I've never had opportunity to deal with either one (as far as I know), but I do appreciate how they treat other board members, especially the newest ones. Other forums can feel unwelcome at times because of treatment received. It seems like these two go out of their way to make sure the new folks stick around. So, from a 50+ "noob," THANKS!
  17. There's a Flash/Speed Buggy special on the shelves now in my LCS. It's new within last week or two. Didn't remember seeing it before then.
  18. Glad they moved it up a week. I was torn between it and Planet Comicon (a personal fave), so now I can hopefully attend both! Between those and the Star Wars Celebration in April, I'll be broke as a joke.
  19. The weird thing is the Magic kids look at older comic guys like we're the sweaty nerds in the shop and encroaching on their turf. I'd probably play if someone taught me. I don't think they're "less than" or any ridiculous thing like that. It's just not my bag. My own son and nephews all played, but it seemed more like a 1-2 year phase until their friends outgrew it too, right around the time girls started taking on more importance in their lives.
  20. They're there, but they're playing/buying Magic for the most part.
  21. Had these. I had fun with all my building toys. This, Lincoln Logs, LEGO, etc. Anyone have Fort Apache? I also had a die-cast car factory, where it would assemble a 1:64 scale Hot Wheels or Matchbox style car by turning some cranks. I don't remember it being very easy to pull those pieces back apart to repeat the process.
