    I

Sorry to hear this one. I have bid on a few of these issues( No win) . So far according to eBay I have seen a total of 7 sell.

( Not sure how many of these may have been like your issues with it)

They have been in various condition from seller described high grade to the most recent with creases on corners and bends.  I have been watching them as Kirk had a post discussing the rarity and looking through cgc there has only been 1 graded (9.2) so far , as compared to the op Batman 2nd print newsstand that currently has 28, of which 1 is the 9.4 SS currently listed on eBay

    Anyone know more about this?

That is referred to as a preview or Black and White Advance copy. They were sent to distributors , sales , and sometimes stores. So you could see what the comic was like as well as read the story .  Some are rarer than others. Earlier versions were referred to as ashcans. This due to the fact they were to be destroyed.

I have yet to see Action 252 Millennium newsstand.

I've never seen the JLA #1 Millennium newsstand

Funny how the mi-1990s are now feeling like ancient history for old timers like me. Look at Superman's mullet on the cover below... business up front but party in the back.   Heck... that was more than 20 years ago, dagblammit!

Whippersnappers won't know the joy of the 90s. Mullet Superman awesome..  Congrats on the #8 I was thinking the same on that one that somewhere a Barnes and Noble would show up. I have seen that post and remember searching my local many many times for a lot of issues as well as the stickered issues.. I was curious about the millennium as if you had found one was hoping to see images. So still keeping an eye out for those.  Still have to agree that it seems as though they may not have produced newsstand versions of some of them. Still an amazing feat to put together the Collection you have assembled.

Here we go again. Another “my son did it” cancellation request seconds after the book was won today.

All too common now. The modern version of my dog ate my homework. When I looked up the buyer sending me the message. " I am honestly not into comics"  , yet the last several feedback left for him as a buyer are from sellers who only sell comics.. Buckwheat says... " Otay!"  Just makes you want to send a toaster marked for bathtub use only..

Some time last year the seller listed the book in an auction format, with a starting bid of $500. I was watching it and the seller canceled the auction a day or two before closing. There were no bids, I was interested but I thought the price was still high. I was thinking $400.

Guess who ever won the first with the $800 offer must have flaked as it showed as sold. Then he must have relisted. Which unfortunately  has become too common place recently on eBay.

Back in the day, a friend of mine won one of these.  It was indeed just all 6 issues with a cover glued onto it.  Which #1 cover you got, Newsstand or Direct, was random.  He ended up with not only the Direct Edition cover (which everyone wanted) but it was a double cover.

I am glad you brought up this point. I have always wondered if these were just at random of if one was for the winners and the other for the shops so even without the letter you could tell which one you had. Really would have loved a double cover version as this series did have an issue of having double covers.

Very cool! Did the ring come with the tpb.

This ring did not . these particular rings were made to celebrate the 50th Anniversary back in 1988. Classic Superman artwork by Neal Adams. They were given away at Metropolis , IL.
