  1. Here is what MyComicShop posted in a thread in comics general.

"Fees with us are 8-10% seller's commission, and the 3% buyer's is usually waived to 0% for anything expensive because buyers are paying by check or bank transfer. And for anything around $12.5K or above our $1000 cap kicks in, pushing the effective percentage lower and lower the higher the sale price. Versus Heritage is what, 15% seller and 20% buyer?

Yes.  I experienced this several hours ago where I could see my account info, but when I clicked on the “chat boards” link it brought me back to the page with “existing user? Sign in”.  Just a continuous loop.  I finally logged off and logged in again and was able to enjoy the robust collecting experience that this site provides.

Yep, sign out and sign back in and you're good to go.  I haven't had this happen to me here but, it's been going on for a while on the NGC forum.

  3. Maybe 5 years ago, bots showed up and started about 1000 spam  threads in Chinese,  in a few hours.  2 moderators couldn't ban the id's fast enough.  Actually, it went on for at least a few days.   Lately, there have been a few id's with 100's of links for escort services.

We also went to an open air market one morning; may have been that one. Great food abounds! I want to go back now. We were heading to Rochester NY after Montreal via Burlington VT. Since we didn't need a car in Montreal and crossing the border with a rental was crazy expensive we decided to take the Greyhound to Burlington and pick up a car there. We had a pretty comfortable bus ride until about twenty miles north of Burlington when the bus caught on fire! Well the engine bay anyway. We got off and I called a taxi service from Burlington who picked us up and took us to the airport where I got the car. Later that night I looked up how late that bus got into its final destination in Boston and it was eight hours late! Best taxi fare I ever paid.

20 miles north of Burlington is my old stomping grounds.

Mike, every morning here in the UK around this time (11:00am) the boards buffer for between three and five minutes. There are no error messages - just buffering. All other websites are responsive during that time so it does seem to be a CGC site specific issue - possibly some routine daily process is running which the system can't cope with. I know there is a technical update planned to fix the 500 errors - could you flag this to the team too, please, just in case they are unaware of it and it requires its own specific remedial action?

Any news on the update by the way? We rarely get told they are coming these days - is it something that may take the site down for a long period? We've had separate 12 and 24 hour outages this year - I wouldn't want to be in the middle of a sales thread if that is what will happen with the upgrade.

Sorry, there is no info as to when this will occur and how it swill impact the boards.  I will mention the buffering time.

And Mike, one other favour - could you ask the technical team whether CGC have blocked site content from Google searching, and whether that will stay if so?

If I search for my UK Price Variant research in Google it no longer shows (get your jokes in now):

I understand that Google bots were having a detrimental impact on site performance a while back, but this is a self defeating policy if so, as it stops new people coming here.

    Cheers, Steve

I will ask about the Google block.

Same here. I suggested we buy one in 2018 to my wife. I have no sentimental attachment to the Wolverine character whatsoever. So, it would have been exceedingly easy to sell it at a hefty profit one day and get a GOOD book. Got the usual barrage of disbelief and fear responses. Roughly $500 for a 9.0.

Just yesterday, I commented the same book is around $15k now. Instead of recognizing her error, she suggested that "if I had really wanted it and it was SUCH a good investment, I should have sold off some other books to finance an Incredible Hulk 181". Problem with that is the books I have I want to keep. It is why I bought them. Ho-Hum. Another argument I lose.

I think your numbers are off.  I paid $750 for an 8.5 like 15 years ago

    I think he meant 5K

  7. An admin reached out to CGC a year and a half ago to aid in setting cutoff points in the FS area.  This is the response.

We reached out about age breakdowns to an appropriate person at CGC, as we know the community has varying opinions about when ages begin and end.

The dates we received were the following:

    • Golden/Silver/Bronze ages would go up through 1979.
    • Copper/Modern ages would begin with 1980.

A couple of days ago I asked why just typing the word  eBay now creates an automatic hyperlink on these boards to ebay.com. Said it irked me (which it does.)

I got a Notification my question had been approved and saw it in the Chat Boards Questions & Issues. Today not only do I not see the question, but the Notification that the question had been approved has been removed from my Notifications list. What gives?

I checked into this.  The question/thread was started into the moderation-frequently asked question section.  Someone approved the post then, an admin hid it saying it never should have been approved.  A reason why wasn't given but, I believe it was because it was posted in the wrong section.
