  1. I think you got lucky you got a blue label, it looks like someone colored the background red and the fish-people dark green. Color touch? Just kidding! That is one purty book!
  2. This was the only one with a bubble that I could think of. Maybe some of the variants that I've only seen your copies of...?
  3. ASM #254 in 9.8 ASM #278 in 9.8
  4. There it is! I was wondering what issue you were describing! I always thought the bunch of criss-cross lines in the red part was an interesting idea. It's kind of lazy but cool at the same time. Yea, it happens with a few of your posts. I can let you know if it happens again if you want. Not trying to be annoying, but you post cool stuff and I WANNA SEE IT!
  5. Woof is right! I may have to steal that one and put it on a shirt....
  6. I'll vouch for this. I passed on the ugly "pink" version for years of this one until I found a copy that I could live with. In some cases the AP's are perfectly good substitutes (Pop #3 for example) but others aren't, like this one. Another example is Cole #6, the horse-riding-bronco cover. It's actually smaller than it should be, like it was trimmed on the right to a modern sized comic. I don't have my Pop #6 within reach, but I noted that mine was about a 4.0. There are only 3 on the census at the moment, an 8 (!), 4, & a 3. On the AP rep there are 4: 7, 6, 5, and a 2.5.
  7. Scored another Hobgoblin cover, this one a Moon Knight variant by the one-and-only John Romita Sr. Not too common, so I was happy to win it!
  8. Here's another Hobgoblin issue, and early Macendale appearance and not too many in 9.8 on the census. I really dig this cover, I just wish they made Hobby more orange to contrast Spidey's red. Really happy to have this one! I also got a Romita Sr. variant Moon Knight cover I'll post in amodern thread.
  9. Yup! I ended up buying a different copy from them actually. I thought it was around a 4.5 - 5, came back a 5.5 so I'm happy with my book. It's only one my my 3, and I want 1 more! In due time... Consider myself impressed with the runs some of you guys have put together on this FH books!
  10. My favorite cover, and one of the only few I own. I think I know where you got that one - or at least what site it was on for a while. I almost bought it because I figured I should own it, it's got my name on it - even spelled correctly!
  11. Lone highest graded (above my 6.0)! And only 6 on the census! Congrats!!!
  12. Yes, looks are most important... apparently the centerfold isn't!
  13. I can't say for sure, but I know he's very critical of his own work. It takes him a long time to produce a piece because he'll re-do it over after not being satisfied. It's one of the reasons he isn't that prolific.
  14. Lots of interesting Cole auctions lately. Some interesting results on CC, and then I saw this: Anyone else think that's an impressive result for an incomplete .05 from the other guys?
  15. I LOVE Cole's early stuff. The think, smooth black lines are so cool. Don't sleep on the marbling at the bottom either! This cover is nice, but of course the #3 is the best of the 3-issue run for the uniqueness alone.
  16. Just added my brown label pic of Spidey / Wolvie to my run and this guy that arrived this morning. Now I need this run's #8:
  17. Thanks. I looked up the notes on this one and if I did a C&P it may get a 9.6, but I think that's the ceiling. I like the novelty of the old label, even if I need to put on my cheaters to read the cert #. The only thing I don't like is that the label on the top of these keep coming off. The one on this one came off today.
  18. Ok, while not new to my collection (as will be obvious in a minute) I never scanned it. Still haven't, but I took this pic. Here's an old 9.4 in old label goodness! Here lies good 'ol Ned, a mean 'ol mercenary shot him in the head.... What's the consensus on older grades? If I re-subbed it do you think it would do worse / better / same? I know an actual scan may help with this, I'm just asking in general.
  19. Oh, I nearly forgot about CROSSED by Garth Ennis. Eventually it spun off into a series Alan Moore wrote. This will give you a run down. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crossed_(comics) (See! I knew I'd think of more!)
  20. Warren Ellis's STRANGE KISS / STRANGER KISSES / GRAVEL series was really good, especially to start with. I remember reading the last page of his first issue and was floored. http://www.avatarpress.com/titles/warren-ellis-gravel/strange-stranger/
  21. Oh, a few decades old, but David Hine's STRANGE EMBRACE was pretty creepy. The art is a bit rough, but its a great story! I'm sure I'll think of more...
