I am a new member and am preparing to submit my comics . My books are 40 years old . Should books be cleaned professionally before submitting . If not cleaned is there a penalty for not cleaned

It depends on if one is dirty enough that cleaning will improve the grade. The "penalty" would only be for 'dirty' books; If you don't clean a 'dirty' book, it will grade lower.

I HATED Superman killing Zod in the first movie of a series.  I am okay with Superman having to do that but NOT in the first movie.  It is yet another example of the flawed structure of the SnyderVerse.  Death and Return of Superman BEFORE the justice league is even formed?

I agree about consquences and the ending, but what about all the people that lost their lives because he couldn't stop Zod sooner.  That feels like a pretty big consequence.  Had Superman defeated Zod and imprisoned him in the Phantom Zone there still would have been consquences and much of the early story with Bruce Wayne in Metropolis (which I thought was great) would still be intact in the movie.  Zach Snyder is a fantastic director, Watchmen and 300 were great, but he did not really understand the character.  If Superman kills in the first movie though, where do you go from there? IMO WB/Snyder (and yes I realize a lot of this was on WB and not Snyder specifically) should have done JL first and then do a movie later with the death of Superman thing where Superman has to kill doomsday (and uninentionally sacrifice himself) to save everyone and not repeat the tragedy of Zod's invasion.  People likely wouldn't have had the reaction they did if WB/Snyder would have had the character development and understanding of what Superman really stood for first, like in Man of Stell where he talks about the crest meaning hope, and THEN later see him have to do that.  Parts of Man of Steel were excellent but the ending?  It was bad storytelling and it cost them ..... deservedly so.

For what purpose can't Superman kill a non-human in his first movie...? That sounds like keeping something for the future just because one can. And just because one can does not mean one should.

This was tackled in the sequel. If you re-watch MoS until the Phantom Zone part, turn it off, pretend Zod was in there, and tell me that you'd be satisfied with that conclusion... I'll take your word for it. I'm quite sure you'd be disillusioned by that, though.

Christopher Nolan and David Goyer wrote Man of Steel. Not Zack Snyder. And all 3 of those guys know Superman.

Isn't conversing with me wasting your time? All I want is for every customer to get the same thing. For everything. Period. If you don't feel that's fair then let me know and I won't waste any more of your time.

Nah. If we didn't have conversations about subjects we disagree on, nothing would get solved.

You're okay with the tradeoff of multiplying TATs then?

Some people get grader notes on their slabs, some don't.  (shrug). Search random books on ebay. Some will have notes, some will not. Maybe you can tell us why that is.

I'm not wasting my time "searching for random books". That's a fool's errand.

So what you're actually saying is: "Sometimes CGC notes major defects on the label"? Not, "some people always get grader notes".

At one point probably 15 or so years ago, Futurama was running here at 11 pm (can't remember if it was Cartoon Network, Comedy Central, SyFy or what). My son - who had just magically turned into a teenager - and I watched every night.  There were so many episodes where one of the lines would have me laughing so hard I couldn't catch my breath.  I look back on those days very, very fondly.

[adult swim] had Futurama on-and-off for a long time.

If two hard consequences in a movie is too much for some, than two Jesus's are as well (which really, is always too much when heavy handed imo).

That is my point though with menial tasks, they are extremely easy for him and something many might consider 'beneath him' but I prefer a Superman that has joy in doing the little things. A smile and friendly glow about him doing it, showing how him helping in anyway he can is what brings him contentment. This isn't a slight against prior version of Superman, but I think we need to return to this sort of representation (which would make the major consequences you speak of even more impactful!)

It's the same "some", not separate critics.

As no one can force him to do anything, a Superman who continues to choose to save people must get joy out of it. (shrug)

Well other than when Clark saved his fellow shipmate from the falling cage or saving the oil rig workers you could be right.

    (:

Actually, the shipmate saved Clark from the falling cage. Which I always kinda felt was weird. A regular human can push Clark? However, I'm also now remembering that HS bully pushing him into the fence in a flashback. Still kinda weird.

Yes, but I don't think much of the time was spent on those or really highlighted his attitude towards it - the emphasis was more on portraying the 'Jesus' imagery rather than an overall happy Superman (most of those shots of him saving people he looked grumpy and almost bored to be doing it :D )

This is just flat-out wrong. There were 2 Jesus homages in MoS. He looked bored? Like completing a menial (=easy) task?

The issue isn't that we don't want him to make difficult choices, it is rather that we haven't had a good deal of time being shown him making the easy ones. We need far more time spent with him easily solving issues without fighting and no violence, and being a positive beacon of hope to citizens around him. Going out of his way to stop damage to cities when fighting, save a cat from a tree, help an old woman cross the street, stop a robber by casually bending the gun of the criminal and casually carrying them to the police (with zero violence against them since he knows it isn't needed, or wanted, in this case). Basically show us how often he avoids the difficult choices because he can.

Consequences are good when they are better contrasted against the character. By the time Man of Steel ended I didn't feel that the killing was at all out of place or really a big deal for that Superman.

Going job-to-job saving people from basic disasters sounds like "easy" choices to me.

Hopefully they are miles and miles away from a final director as well based on the performance of The Flash at the box office. If they are really serious about turning things around they should give Nolan or Cameron a blank check to expand the Bat-verse.

Or, if it is all about the Benjamins, give one of those two the reigns and budget to do a Kingdom Come trilogy that is set outside of the main DCEU like The Joker and The Batman.

I think Muschietti did a relatively great job of directing The Flash. (shrug)

Aside from the fact that I think Kingdom Come is untouchable, Soy Cameron would be a terrible director for a CBM.

The company exists for the sole purpose of telling people what grade their book is in so yes I expect them to tell me how they came to that grade. They do it for some people. Why not everyone? Are some graders less qualified? Maybe less sure of the grade assigned? I find it hard to believe people are still standing up for this company concerning missing notes. Been reading these boards forever and as long as they have existed..... people have been coming here asking why their book has no notes but others do. I stand by my opinion. Give them to everybody or give them to no one.

What grade their book is, not the proprietary method of assigning that grade.

    Who are "some people"?

Why do they include extensive descriptions of books that have a green qualified label or a purple restored label? Why not just say hey your book has a qualified grade. Guy grading didn't include why. Or here's your book it had restoration but again grader didn't say why so enjoy your purple label. It's not their job to teach you how to understand qualified or restored grades anyways.

Do you expect anyone other than grading companies to disclose why/how they chose the grade they did? Do you expect them to disclose restoration or major defects?

If the answers are "no" and "yes", in that order, then I'd ask everyone to be consistent.
