At least not Disney's version.  Apparently, Disney had changed parts of the original story, most importantly she was not saved by a kiss.  In the original, the Prince apparently became obsessed with the girl in the glass coffin and made his servents carry the body around with him at all times.  At some point a servant opened the coffin and smacked Snow White on the back, because he was sick of toting around a dead girl, dislodged the apple she had choked on, and she came back to life.

Also, the Evil Queen died after being made to endlessly dance on hot pokers.

Disney made changes to all of the originals, AFAIK, since they typically end in tragedy rather than happiness. I guess they're going back to tragedies and travesties...

I do not know if this will upset you more, but this is Rachel Zegler's recent interview about the movie. At the end she says Snow White is not going to be saved by the prince and is not thinking about true love. Instead it is about becoming the leader she knows she can be.

I saw that yesterday, and my first thought was: If you're going to change the whole story, why use the story's title and character...? It's ultimately not Snow White or her story...

IMAX benefits a movie where significant acting is limited to facial expressions. And IMAX enhances the B&W sequences.  The desire to see it in IMAX has nothing to do with explosions. Nolan not only hyped IMAX as necessary viewing, he identified what seats it should be viewed in.  As a result IMAX tickets are sold out way in advance for the key seats.

Assumptions aside, none of this matters.

Still think it's amazing - but a few additional minor criticisms:

    • There are frustrating points where the music drowns out the dialogue -- not nearly as pervasively as in Tenet, but still disrespectful of the audience.

Agree with you there. I think it was purposeful in Tenet, but I didn't see anything visually that would have been more important than any of the character dialogue.

Additional thought: I don't feel like the R rating was earned. I don't think that the nudity added enough to limit the audience, somewhat padding the runtime. 2c

Didn't he do an "exact" remake with AC1050?  His 900 cover is way better (reinterpreted AC1) and I think that's the idea of this thread concept.

I stopped reading after 1000, so didn't know about the 1050. The 1050 is closer to what I'm talking about; Modernized remakes. It took me too long to recognize how 900 homages #1.

The real ending of #TheFlash featured Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman trapped in time, which would have led to his own Batman movie, as well as #ManofSteel 2, #BatmanBeyond and lots more https://t.co/RrSH6DerXw

I'm no DC expert, but that seems like a pretty bangin' premise for alternate universe movies.

Batfleck being "trapped in time" is... The most interesting aspect of that statement. I would love to have seen how that logic worked out.

  7. You gotta remember that there are "purists" who think Batman shouldn't kill whatsoever, which could be a reason for those "critic" scores (letting Ra's die at the end). I wouldn't put Begins in my Top 5, but it's up there with Man of Steel and Iron Man as far as origin stories, IMO.

As for Interstellar; It's only the end that really bothers me, but I get that they're going with "love transcends our current level of understanding", much like theoretical wormholes. Still, the 5-dimensional tesseract and ability to communicate with the past is just... Too much fantasy even for that movie.

seems to me like the market would be limited.    The vintage collector won't be interested for the most part.    The new comic collector won't be interested for the most part.    Its a pretty narrow intersection, IMO, of people wanting to read old stories with new art.

    Salient point.
