  1. That is the one I was talking about. That's part of the problem with CGC's competitors. I can't tell of any 'defects' by a quick glance at the label (preservation, qualification, restoration, signature, etc). I would jump on a CGC 5.0 before any CBCS under 9.0.
  2. X-Men #1 CBCS 9.0 recently sold for as much as $6,900 on eBay. X-Men #1 CGC 7.0 recently sold for as much as $16,000 on eBay. X-Men #1 CGC 5.0 recently sold for as much as $9,000 on eBay. That tells you all that you need to know.
  3. I hate Star Trek other than the Abrams Trilogy (I know he didn't direct the 3rd film). I've tried watching old TV/movies many times and was always beyond bored. I don't know how you people can do it. Abrams is our only hope. He can pull it off. Will he? We'll know in about 13 months...
  4. Obvious strawman is obvious. The Last Jedi is the worst Star Wars movie AINEC.
  5. And your evidence is..? None, gotcha. The Last Jedi story has been told. It's over, and it sucks.
  6. George Lucas wrote scripts for 9 episodes in college... And her name is Leia...
  7. Similar arrangement. My mom wouldn't take 0 gifts to give me for an answer, so she'll give me her homemade ornaments, and I'll buy her the Hallmark Cat ornaments. It just doesn't make sense for me to buy you what you want. Spend your money on whatever, and I'll save up for my collectibles. Too much of a hassle, and no fun, to give you what you're expecting. This exchange might give me some holiday cheer lol. I love seeing my family and all, but sometimes it's just emotionally draining. Getting comics involved will make the holidays a lot more fun for me (and others). So glad that I started posting here in the last year.
  8. I'll be signing up for both! True story: I don't buy gifts for my family, because it's no fun, but it will be fun for me to get a comic-related gift for another boardie!
  9. Thankfully we're in the Golden Age of Comic Book Movies, because it's very difficult to find a 21st century title with great art and writing (IMO).
  10. Yes, as long as the other 50% is all Dranzer.
  11. The OP never specified "comic book". No need to be 100% a-hole.
  12. 1. Lmfao. No rebuttal. Concession accepted. 2. This is public knowledge based on all facts provided to audiences. No conjecture. Conjecture is, on your part, assuming that this may not be true, despite being otherwise informed. 3/4. More conjecture with no support. Johnson screwed the pooch. That much is blatantly evidenced by the fact that Trevorrow quit and they have to pay JJ a billion dollars to come back to try fixing this mess. Good for them/us, because he's one of the very, very few who have a decent chance of doing so.
  13. Considering that all of the original Star Wars stories were written by Lucas about a decade before they were filmed and produced... The same can't be said for these films (and it's 2 completely different sets of writers/directors). You can't claim that it was intentional misdirect. It was chitty writing/directing by Johnson.
  14. I'll take a good look at a few pages before I buy them, then. Thanks for the heads-up. Aside from Man of Steel Vol. 2 being very "meh" for a 6-issue limited run, it did setup Superman Vol. 5, and neither the art nor the writing is poor by any means. I'll be fairly disappointed if I can't 'get into' a current Marvel series.
  15. I'm a super-amateur grader, but this look like a 9.4/9.6 to me.
  16. So, I visited my LCS on Wednesday, and noticed a ton of low-number Marvel comics. Turns out they rebooted most of their titles recently! Long story short; I bought the first 5 issues of the rebooted Iron Man series. Of those who have read a few issues, are you finding the dialogue in these a total turn-off..? "You're James Rhodes, it's what you do." Who speaks like that!? Stark also keeps saying "Rhodey" seemingly every time he addresses him. I almost threw up on the 3rd book because of how bad the dialogue is. I know it could just be the writer. I plan on getting into the new Thor series to see if that one's any good. The crappy writing in this one has me feeling really down on Marvel comics right now. I was getting excited. seeing all these titles rebooted, making me anxious to read these stories from the beginning. My excitement became flaccid after issue #3.
