  1. Really? If you buy a book now for $1k that you later see listed for half-price, you're not going to be disappointed that you overspent by way of overreacting and buying it during the hype-train? I'm sure the guy that bought Batman Damned Gem Mint for $8k isn't happy with his impatience that cost him upwards of $7,000. Stan Lee is basically the biggest name in comic creation. People who don't normally buy his comics are buying his comics right now. One person is doing it to get that memorabilia, and another is doing it to garner profit. It's why I can't get a reader copy of Batman Damned, because it was all over the news, and Johnny-know-nothing bought all of the copies locally to turn a profit.
  2. Good question. I would think that maybe the more 'casual' people will hold off, while die-hard comic collectors/fans/readers will spend that money elsewhere. Overall, I think it will be better for sellers, but 'worse'* for the overall profit of the venues. *Sometimes less population is better, though...
  3. Very, very cool. Thanks for sharing.
  4. There's a guy who already had his listing overpriced at $3,333 for Infinity Gauntlet #1 signed by Stan Lee. After his passing, he raised the price to $5,555 (keep in mind this is only 1 of the 6 books). I'm interested in owning some memorabilia signed by Stan at some point, but I'm not going to overreact and pay way more than something is worth just because he has sadly passed. IMO the buyers who are overreacting are going to be very disappointed in the amount they overspent for their book or the amount that it sells for in the future.
  5. Love that Collector's Edition cover. It was one of the books that got me into comics as a kid in the 90's. X-Men was my favorite title for about 15 years. Didn't even know there were 4 other variants until this year.
  6. Is there a way of searching CGC's database for all comics noted as "Action Comics #1 cover homage"? I know there are some lists out there by collectors/etc, but is there a definitive list for CGC products? In addition, if there is not a way of searching for these, does anyone happen to know of "the best" list for this? Obviously this could help out other niche collectors as well if we can search for notations like this. Thanks in advance for any/all help.
  7. Another movie that I'm keeping my hopes down for. First trailer was really, really, good. I've just been burned by the theatrical version of BvS, and Civil War, and Suicide Squad, etc etc etc. I still can't believe how hyped I was for Infinity War and how watching it completely blew those expectations out of the water. What a f^&*ing movie that is. Looks like they're gonna do Shazam justice. Would be cool to see a Superman cameo (maybe he's involved in reshoots!?) however unlikely it looks.
  8. Jaydog, IMO you should stop jerking this movie off. It's not a good film. Making "multiple" dollars compared to budget isn't impressive. I don't know a single person who saw it more than once, including tons of the internet. Did your dad cameo in it or something? I don't understand your fetish for this movie having some kind of positive reputation.
  9. I'm offended by the buyer's lack of punctuation, if anything... It comes off, like: "dont be an amateur ship in box not flimsy envelope kthxbai loser" Instead of: "Please ship in a box, rather than an envelope. Thank you very much. I respect your existence in every way, shape, and form. My English lets you know how sincere I am. Good day, my friend!"
  10. Let's not make assumptions. Could be entirely coincidental.
  11. That's a good-looking 2.0 with a Stan Lee sig. $$$$$ IMO. I certainly cannot afford it. If it had Ditko's and Kirby's sigs, it would definitely be a holy grail among comics. I have no idea what ballpark value this falls under.
  12. CGC SS label is as good as gold. There is no better product. Who signed it? This could be a big-money ticket depending on the signer. Potential gem/grail.
  13. This guy freaking blows. "Who cares"? Jesus Christ... Can we trade a soul for a soul? This loser for Stan back plz. 100% on the caller's reaction. Lmfao for days.
  14. *wipes brow* Good thing I pass that threshold...
  15. We kinda already have 2 eBay venting threads. I think it's stupid to ask questions after winning/purchasing an item. I also think it's stupid to assume that a seller will not send an item correctly, despite poor sellers being everywhere.
  16. People are starting to list CGC SS Stan Lee products in droves on eBay in the hopes of capitalizing on this unfortunate event. If buyers are patient, and don't allow these markups and floods to dictate the free market prices, then it ultimately will have very little effect. I currently don't have any Stan Lee signatures, and I do plan on owning a few (hopefully in 2019), but I won't be paying an arm and a leg for it just because he is no longer physically with us (he will always be with us in spirit). To ultimately answer the OP's question: Short-term - yes. Long-term - little if any.
  17. This. The CGC site search isn't great, but it did help me find a CGC SS product that wasn't available elsewhere, so you may want to try using that to find a listing here that is still available. Patience is a virtue.
  18. Lmfao what the hell am I looking at!?
  19. In every interview (that I can find) from the last decade he had always said Spider-Man. However, he did have an affinity for FF characters. Doctor Doom, for example, was his favorite Marvel villain. IMO Spider-Man probably evolved into Stan's favorite hero because of film success. I would not be surprised if Silver Surfer was his favorite hero 15-20 years ago.
  20. I don't think we can. Superman, Batman, and Spider-Man are the 3 most-recognized comic book heroes of all-time. IIRC, Spider-Man was also Stan's favorite hero that he created.
  21. They were married for, what, 70 years or something? What a man. What a couple. The world lost an absolute legend.
  22. Are you f^&*ing serious? Omg... There are no words... RIP
