  1. I replaced my other 9.8 with this one. Unfortunately I have no information regarding the sig on page 1 nor do the previous owners Happy holidays all! 🎃💥🎃💥
  2. Wonder why that 40 went so high? It wasn’t even all white pages or perfectly square. I got a 9.0 39 earlier this year for far less. Very odd. Not sure what you mean by not perfectly square? I think you're referring to the very slight over-wrap where the M in Marvel is very close to the spine? Most of them look that way. It looks great imo. Just speculating but I think the grades not easily available like perhaps 9.2 and up will fetch higher provided its well centered. The census is not low but you just don't see 9.2s listed everyday. I've seen silver age OW pagers go just as high or higher as white in high grades. Maybe people don't mind PQ as much in silver age if the eye appeal is good enough and it's an important issue? I know for me personally Its not important if the eye appeal is right. Bronze may be different. Btw, there was a 39 9.0 in Pedigree's recent auction went for ~1700 if memory serves. I don't remember the PQ but it was the highest sale ever by a mile. That's obviously an outlier but the trend on these high grade silvers is clearly up!
  3. You referring to the #40 9.2 that went for 1600? I think that may be the highest ever. Anyone looking for a high grade 39 or 40 should be ready to put up top dollar. PQ doesn't seem to be a factor on top grades
  4. Those pesky misplaced decimal points 🤯 🤬 Could be worth taking a look around their store for some more misplaced decimal points
  5. Guess it depends on what your selling. I had a GA Detective issue in the just concluded CLink auction, and it sold for more there than what I was asking for it on the boards. There's obviously people on Clink that don't frequent the sales thread here. Or maybe feel safer on Clink? Maybe books that are tougher to find stand a better chance at a higher sale late in the year when people have Christmas shopping on their minds. According to GPA 181s in 9.2 and up are fairly solid. Though I haven't kept up with 9.0? I don't think MCU will say anything about x-men for quite some time. Maybe years? I'd imagine casting them would be a huge challenge especially Wolverine!
  6. That's fantastic news! Congratulations I'm thrilled for you! I'm pretty sure you had mentioned you reported him to Ebay. Did your follow up feedback show up on his feedback history? Unfortunately Ebay requires any buyer to be reported three times before considering a ban
  7. Is there an updated blocked list somewhere instead of having to look through each post in this thread for users that are not listed on the OP?
  8. Was it graded? I'd think just seeing "first appearance of Peter Parker, spider-man" on the label would impact just about anyone...maybe even Bill Maher
  9. The Kellogg's logo hasn't changed! How many people could even afford that stuff in 1933???
  10. I'd understand the scepticism over funko pop stuff but why don't you just tell them the OA pieces are super valuable one of a kind items?
  11. The only family member I've shown comics to is my brother since he's relatively young and at least has a passing interest in major characters. I wore my AF15 shirt for Thanksgiving and I don't think anyone had any idea what it was other than spider-man on a shirt. If I were to show a non comic person a comic I'd show a silver age cgc slab. The label itself would automatically imply status. The relevant information would be there for them to see. If I show something in a bag & board then try to explain value or whatever I'd be afraid of the possible thoughts crossing their minds
  12. This makes sense. There can be a distinction between first appearance (whether you want to call it a cameo or not) and first full. It would be much better if everyone just had a nice and neat easy to identify clear first appearance in which they have a significant part in the story. That's not real life. Marvel wanted to sell comics so they teased him in 180 to sell more 181s. Most people may do the same if they were in the business of selling comics. IH 180 = first appearance IH 181 = first full appearance Btw, I don't think there's a universally recognized cut off point as to how many panels are required to determine full appearance. I wish there was!
  13. Ross Andru Btw any other appearances of the Stan spider roach aside from that ASM 129??? I guess maybe that can kind of be a signature?
  14. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F274109508355 Just a few very minor NRs on the case NOT clearly visible.
  15. Or maybe the real question is the significance of the brief appearance? Wolverine has one cool-looking "here I am" panel, but for all you know from that, Hulk backhands him next issue, never to be seen again. Without 181, you just don't know. Darkseid is just a head on a screen in one panel, but whatever exactly he says (can't recall without digging it out) he's clearly the new bad@ss mastermind not to be trifled with. Not much of a look at him, but we get the idea about him. Just trying to dig us a new rabbit hole in familiar soil; don't much care either way. But it makes some sense, no? Well in the beginning of 180 the term "Weapon X" is referred to as a possibility to deal with Hulk. They refer to Wolverine in the last page as weapon x and clearly make a big thing of the character in large lettering at the bottom. So I don't know that its just simply one panel insignificant to the story. It wouldn't have made any sense at all to have him be backhanded and done away with quickly. Just my view but I think there can be a distinction between 1st cameo and 1st full. 180 is the first time the world layed eyes on him so its first cameo but it can't be a full appearance since just one panel. He's on 2 panels on 182 (one head shot one full body) and still considered a cameo so maybe the magic number is 3 or 4? The most important authority on how distinctions are made may be CGC since their labeling decisions will move the market. Anyway, the king of vague first appearances is Venom. There's Web of spider-man 15 (Peter being shoved from behind) then 24 (black arm from the apartment pulling Peter's ankle trying to get him to fall) or Comics Scene #2 that previewed ASM 299, 300 with clear Venom depictions or last page of ASM 298, 299 or ASM 252...so on...and so on... Marvel decided to make that as vague as possible so it'll be a dead horse that'll keep getting beaten forever
  16. These auctions with low "teaser" starting bids almost always end up selling for a low disappointing price. They're always like 3 to 7 days with a starting bid that's under market value for enticements. They never work! If people wanna auction something they're better off just doing a regular 99 cent staring bid auction. This seller was too cute and the attempt backfired earning him negative feedback. Just put a bin on it or have regular auctions
  17. The search function on Ebay doesn't seem to allow for user searches. I tried both classic site and app. Anyone know how to search for a user ID? I think its better to know these scammers still have Ebay accounts before blocking them otherwise it's a waste of time
  18. Member since: Aug-10-17 Cant find this user's profile on Ebay. I suppose its typical for them to disappear after pulling this
  19. I think accepting returns helps a seller in a dispute and is required for Ebay seller protections. At least that's what is indicated in the information provided on the website. I'd rather hold off on providing any feedback on high priced items until knowing for sure the buyer received it and is happy. That way incase some scam like this happens I can hammer them with negative feedback
  20. Yeah thanks alot I already adjusted the settings. Appreciate the info! Problem is I'm always on the "minimal information" app. I'm a prisoner of convenience! You have to access these settings on the desktop version but who the hell uses a desktop anymore? Same thing applies to Ebay bucks information. You can't get anything on the app regarding Ebay bucks information.
  21. @awakeintheashes Just a few questions. Did you give the buyer initial feedback after he paid? Did your original listing allow for returns? Are you sure Ebay allows a listing to only be seen by members with a certain amount of feedback? I don't see that setting. I didn't know about "follow up" feedback? I thought you were only allowed to give feedback once. Anyway where would that "follow up" option be available since I don't see it on the app? Everybody's pulling for you!!! I was thinking after reading about these nightmare situations with Ebay about the possibility of the boards here providing some kind of insurance pool with contributions from the board members who sell on Ebay. I have no idea how it would work or the mechanics of it or even the legality but just a thought that crossed my mind. I mean we all should have each other's backs somehow since we share this hobby! We all know how unreliable Ebay is with these types of shenanigans
  22. Probably a yawner for the older people but here's my contribution. I wish I'd been old enough to have read and understood what this was when it came out. I think I saw it over a year after it came out sorting through my cousin's collection unaware of who Mcfarlane, Michelinie or Venom were. I kept asking him if he had 300 and said no he couldn't find one. I remember my persistent nagging paid off when he managed to find a copy months later giving to my mom. She had it in the car when picking me up from school and my head exploded in excitement! Of course I remember just gawking at the artwork forever before reading it as I was only nine...Good times!
  23. I knew you were posting something from 145 The last page from 144 where he finds out its actually her likeness and page 9 of 145 when he's having the nightmare are noteworthy too. Cheers!
  24. I have this and a few others for slabs. The guy that makes them also makes a smaller version for non slabs. No UV glass though so you can't hang in front of a window or something. I think he charges ~60 dollars for the smaller frames depending on how much detail they require. They have a very looooooong wait time however since he works on them by himself.
