Warning: More Corrupt, Fraudulent, and Criminal Behavior by eBay
MGsimba77 replied to RockMyAmadeus's topic in Comics General
Ok looks like any possible solution lies with USPS. You'll have to open up a package inquiry as soon as you can tomorrow and let them know exactly what happened. Sadly USPS is like the DMV equivalent in terms of mail tracking, delivery. I wish the other carriers offered more insurance for high value items but not to be. There are third party parcel insurers but they're costly as hell -
Warning: More Corrupt, Fraudulent, and Criminal Behavior by eBay
MGsimba77 replied to RockMyAmadeus's topic in Comics General
If the buyer returns it to the wrong address then obviously they did something wrong according to ebay's own return policy. All Ebay has to do is confirm the buyer returned it to the seller's address otherwise It could easily be a scam attempt -
Warning: More Corrupt, Fraudulent, and Criminal Behavior by eBay

What's the status on the insurance claim? Have you contacted USPS about this to try and figure out if you can get the package back? I'd suggest continuing to contact Ebay and push the issue here as much as humanly possible! You obviously have this guy returning the book to another address clearly not holding up his end of the return process deal. It smells like a scam on the buyer's end. What's their feedback history? -
Pencil mark removal CCS
MGsimba77 replied to Lamborghinikid's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Light pencil writing is a pressable defect. Restoration removal deals with color touches, glue and stuff like that. There's an FAQ in the CCS section of CGC's main site goes into all this -

That is one gorgeous white pager! Oh I didn't know it was his. I thought he was just using it to make a point -
The two main things I can see that *maybe could have* knocked it down are the top right corner and the bottom back edge. I can't tell if the upper right corner is a small chip or a bend? If it's a chip obviously it's not fixable. It appears to have some tanning or discoloration on the bottom edge of the back cover. Tanning on white covers gets hammered and it doesn't go away with pressing. I don't think they typically treat writing that harshly unless it's obstructing or obscuring artwork. If I knew that writing was from '68 it'll actually be a positive imo since it's off to the side. If you're dying to know if this is upgradable then buy the graders notes if they're available. Getting an ugrade is tough without clear pressable defects!

GSXM 9.8 W $13,383 Pedigree auction just now https://www.pedigreecomics.com/auction/comic/066291/giant-size-x-men-1-cgc-98-w -
This is an interesting detail in the article linked when you click the second picture... "Sleuths on Reddit were first to notice the Menendez brothers seated courtside in the background of the basketball card. Action Network’s Darren Rovell later confirmed the photo was taken at Madison Square Garden during the 1989-90 season, meaning the brothers would have been watching the game during the seven months between when they killed their parents and were arrested." ...Btw, the OP has a good idea on spotting Ebay bargains . These combined fees with PayPal make it tough. Ebay charges the same fee for the shipping charge. Amazon is not much better I think they charge a higher fee since they don't use PayPal

Horrible. This is what happens when a company lowers its standards. While they foist awful slabs like this onto customers, it is disgraceful for CGC to claim "CGC’s state-of-the-art holder combines superior optics and the most advanced archival materials, making it ideal for visual display and preservation." https://www.cgccomics.com/comic-grading/holder/ I wonder what would happen if CGC got turned into the trade commission for false advertising?

The figures are not exactly the same as in the original covers.

The positioning of both characters are different than the originals. Are they saying that Ditko redrew them on the cover? It looks like someone did

Incredible Hulk #181 - is it *that* red-hot?
MGsimba77 replied to Getoutandstayout's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
Book was only 25 cents about 5 years prior So was X94 just 4 years prior but it was 15 according to that catalog. I guess it goes to show that Wolverine didn't quite take off before the Frank Miller '82 series -

🤦♂️ just crazy!!! There's another 181 in 9.4 from Ebay on GPA sold Sept 3 for 10,600. Decent number but hey its anyone's guess as to whether its real? That fake pricing domino effect doesn't seem to be as widespread with 181s since there's so many but its more of a consequence with those silvers I'd bet
