I got the book in hand today and I'm telling you, it's very very nice.  The grader's notes say:

    light creasing to cover
light spine stress lines to cover

No amount of tilting the book in the light enabled me to see anything.  If there is "creasing" or any "stress lines," it's all completely invisible with no breaks in color.

I've seen plenty of 9.6s that don't look as good as this book.  :tonofbricks:

Are you magnifying the spine on the back side?

Find a relative in Delaware. MCS does not charge sales tax when shipping to Delaware (as Delaware has none)

You could try New Hampshire, Oregon, or Montana too.

I think Massachusetts has a wide tax exempt status for periodicals which include all comic books. So anybody in Massachusetts might want to look into that. Some important person up there must be a collector.

I hate to agree with them, but if every other state is collecting out-of-state sales tax, in does put their own in-state businesses at a disadvantage of Florida doesn't collect it from the potential competitors to those businesses.

Well there's ways around that so I wouldn't necessarily agree. As much as I disagree with decisions made by the powers that be, this isn't the right thread to relitigate that whole thing.

MCS shipping deserves praise! Always very quick, not overpriced and efficiently out the door!

We've been charging sales tax to most states for quite a while now, I think more than a year. Florida is the one that recently changed status--previously out of state sellers didn't have to charge sales tax, but now they do.

Florida held out for a little while after the tax rule came into effect but it didn't last too long. Previous legislation allowed the state to be exempt. Last year however, the governor signed a new law allowing the state to collect. So we've been included now for over a year. It must be you're reaching a threshold sales amount in Florida that obligates you to charge tax.

There is only one online place that still doesnt charge sales tax, maybe 2, they're both from New York. It must be nice

Does Clink and CC charge? I think the smaller sites may not, since whether they charge tax has something to do with reaching a certain yearly sales threshold to a given state. Obviously the biggest ones will reach the threshold sooner.

  6. MCS has always been good with customer service in my experience too. Their people are always very helpful. They are always good with time pay as well and offer plenty of time if need be.

But now I just realized I'm being charged sales tax on MCS, when I wasn't before. Even as recently as a couple months ago. Looking at their information on the site - looks like most states are now subject to sales tax except for several low population states. So just a heads up for everyone. Still love them but maybe just a little bit less today.

Edit: Not meant as a shot at MCS as they don't control that. Just giving a heads up.

It's always kind of fun (and disappointing) to see a cover with alterations by somebody other than the original artist. That's a Romita head on the Blue Talon pasted over Gene Colan's work. I wonder if it was Stan making the calls on those decisions?

I believe Romita was in charge of those decisions at the time. I know he altered a few of Starlin’s covers

Yeah pretty sure he was art director at the time. I vaguely recall reading about Stan having Romita redraw Cap America face on at least one occasion. Maybe an Avengers issue I don't know (shrug)...but definitely involving Cap. I wish I could remember the details, but it had to do with Stan hating the way the face looked to the point of demanding a redraw. That DD cover pretty much screams Kane except for that Talon face apparently.

***If it was all looks Victoria Secret models would make up the Avengers teamlol

For some reason I do not see anything wrong with that concept.........

Yeah I wouldn't be devastated by that neither <3

  9. My hope for what they do with SW is at some point have a culmination with all or most of the principles involved that has at least some connection to the 1984 source material. I know it can be unworkable to follow that exactly but just some connection would be nice. In reality they'll most likely totally disregard the material doing whatever the hell they want then call it "Secret wars"... but whatever...one can hope 🙏

Well anyway, phase six is meh but I don't think people had too many expectations there? I'm of the thinking, people know they have rights to so many heavy hitters and the longer they put that off the more people are going to start getting restless. The Kangs/Lokis of the world are fine but the returns on that might start to diminish for the MCU. People are ready for the Dooms and Surfers! So ummm....maybe let's get on with it Kevin.

Edit: Nevermind I take most of that back. Jeez I need to follow this stuff more closely!
