  1. How many artists could stay on a book that long and still dazzle. Let alone how many artists could stay in the industry and get better and better. Nice book.
  2. The 8.5 GR FF 45 that Brad outbid me on eBAY a couple years ago had the stamp in the same spot. That and the lack of tanning and the puffiness of the spine make it a prime candidate for a GREEN RIVER.....GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u p.s. The Green River collection was introduced in the early 90's by John Hauser. If you check out the link a couple posts back you will see the same issue with date stamp in the exact same spot. I think my copy really is a Green River. Neato.
  3. I haven't bought a comic from a Edmonton LCS in years. I still support my LCS, mostly Wizards but usually during there 50% Boxing Day sale. Picked up a slew of high grade bronze Xmen and Daredevil during the last few sales. I used to stop by their store on 109th, on a fairly regular basis. They have pretty good selection but to be honest, I have more selection and better pricing shopping here. I pick up my moderns from Happy Harbor on 124th. Are you going to the Calgary con next weekend? Yes Wizards is where I have my file. They have a reasonable selection and try to bring in new back issues. Some of it is reasonable priced some is not. They had Amazing Spider #9, 14 and 20 that I wanted last fall. The mid grade 9 and 14 were way over guide and I had to pass. The 20, the nicest of the bunch was about guide and I grabbed it. I didn't know about the Calgary show. Tell me more, I may be able to swing it.

  5. Not sure. Think I picked up 45,44 and a couple more as upgrades at the same time. #45 certainly wasn't advertised as a Green River when i bought it.
  6. Did a little research, this link contains a number of Green River books incuding a FF45 that looks identical to mine, especially the date stamp. Great eye Namisgr. http://www.corpcity.com/CGC/
  7. Think I picked this up about 15 years ago from a dealer in the states. When did the Green River collection come to market?
  8. tks Piper, since you live in Edmonton also I must have just beat you to it.
  9. Best superhero of all time. Picked up my #4 about 15 years ago at a lcs.
  10. Marvel must have had a pretty good idea the surfer was popular. He was sure drawn onto tons of ff covers. Gotta love ff#55. One of the top silver covers to me. The surfer is just so darn photogenic. ff#57 is another great surfer cover and story, basis for the second ff movie ff#72 is bar none my favorite late silver marvel cover. This would be my first pick to upgrade.
  11. These are two great covers to highlight. The white background on #44 and the indigo on #45 make those two issues striking. I had #45 many years ago as a child and just recently reacquired it at the Toronto Comicon. I am really happy to have this book back in my (adult) collection. Kirby was amazing. What's the Toronto comicon like? Worth a trip from Edmonton? We really don't have much in the way of comicons.
  12. I can read lips. The frogmen are saying. HUG
  13. Issue #13 was a beaut. Loved the story. Of course if DC had done this story the cover woulda featured the Red Ghost's apes.
  14. [quote I absolutely love this issue (and #40) but the cover always bothers me --- I see no reason why a Kirby DD (though I don't know what it looked like) had to be replaced with a Wally Wood DD. Wood, a great talent, always drew heads larger in proportion to their bodies and, in my mind, reduced the heroic aspects of the character. Perhaps Kirby did draw Daredevil on this cover and Stan had Wally redraw it as it looked wrong. Regardless I love the cover and would reluctantly agree to store the original art at my place. Hehe. Always thought the cover to #40 was especially dull. Especially considering the wonderful covers to come.
  15. Welcome to ZombieVille (pop. 11060).I guess it was a FF 35 my Mom brought home from a school bazarre that sent me over the edge.GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u 35 was a great issue, but then again I can't pick one that wasn't.
  16. Every Saturday I would hop on the bus and transfer to all the second hand bookstores looking for more Marvel comics. It was like some kinda drug. Purchased FF 15,23,24,30,31,39,41 and 43 off a kid I met for a quarter a piece. The comics were trashed and written on with black felt marker but wow what a bus ride home. I've upgraded them all and passed them on to a buddy. Here's #18 and 39. 39's cover and story rank in my heart as one of the best of the silver age. #18 wasn't too shabby either.
  17. Hi guys, 30 year collector of everything Marvel. Have all the Fantastic Fours except #1. When I was 13 I picked up issue #50 at a second hand bookstore for 6 cents. Still remember the 'this is amazing' feeling as I read the issue. I was a Marvel zombie from that point on.
  18. Nice pages. What is the Toronto ComicCon like? Is it worth flying over from Edmonton?
  19. Sorry guys, managed to post the same image twice. Can anyone tell me why the first displays a link and the second an image? try again,
