  1. You shouldn't be peeling at all. Instead of peeling off the sticker, work on dissolving the glue that keeps it on the book. I'm sure multiple videos will show you how. If it were an expensive book, I'd let a pro do it.
  2. A Stan Lee sketch would be kool!
  3. GI Joe 1 did not come in a bag. Perhaps the shop we bought them from put it in that bag. In any event, that book isn't HG and I wouldn't submit it.
  4. The original purpose of CGC was to be an unbiased third party so that when I buy a book from someone, I know exactly what to expect. Grading was all over the place, making buying sight unseen problematic. I wouldn't consider having a book graded if it wasn't worth at least two hundred dollars. There are many things in the hobby that you should know before you consider sending a book to be graded.
  5. I wrote about this when it happened, but it's worth repeating. When I lived on Long Island, we'd get our mail late in the day, so I was surprised when our mailman showed up one day at about 10 AM with a special delivery. While doing a part of his route quite a distance from us, he saw my dog running loose. The mailman stopped his route, corralled him, and returned him to us. We didn't even know he was gone. I think most PO employees do their jobs well enough but rarely do much more. Finding the ones who go above and beyond is infrequent and noteworthy.
  6. I recently took a chance at a MCS auction on a book described as having moisture damage. I got it at roughly a 50% discount and was very pleased.
  7. I live in a retirement community, where mail is delivered to a central location, and packages are put into a different box and that key is put into your mail slot. Last night, around 7 PM, I was surprised to see a PO truck pull up in front of my house. The guy was delivering two boxes of media mail comics that were about thirty-five pounds each. He said since it was a 55-and-over community, he wasn't sure the receiver could lift the boxes, so he delivered them to my door. It's nice to see the occasional USPS employee who seems to care for people and go a step above his duties.
  8. If you are asking if slabbing will increase its value- No. If it is an important part of your collection, why slab it so you'll never be able to read it again?
  9. You did post photographic proof. The top book in your first picture is clearly not as wide as the one under it. I appreciate it, but don't understand why you are disputing it. Are you saying 1980s books weren't over 7 inches, while today's are 6 7/8?
  10. I do feel sorry for you. In any event, every source I checked has bronze-age books measuring 7 1/4 inches and comics after 1990 varying between 6 5/8 and 6 3/4 inches. It looks like you have a lot of correcting to do. A current book slides easily into a 6 3/4" bag, while a 1970s Marvel doesn't. Weird, how that happens.
  11. Lay a current Marvel on top of a 1977 Marvel and then tell us how right you are. Better yet, take an expensive BA book and slip it into a modern comic bag.
  12. I've seen unsigned copies of that print, but never a limited edition like that. A shop in Vegas asked $299 for a framed unsigned print, and I remember an unsigned print on eBay for about $50 simultaneously. Was this bought from a QVC type of place?
  13. It should be easy enough to identify his landlord. From there you should be able to get the name of his insurance company. They'd love to hear about suspected insurance fraud if he filed a claim.
  14. I want to enrich insurance companies. If I never make another claim, the money was well spent.
  15. It was an interesting idea that didn't take off. At one point there was talk of a centerfold that would list the comic shops in the newspapers distribution area.
  16. I picked up a bound volume of Worlds Finest from 1966/67 for around $40 in 2021, just as a price point. I think I overpaid, but it contained books from a time period I'm fond of.
  17. The AF 15 was part of a newspaper giveaway. It was included free in millions of newspapers. The series lasted about 24 issues but I think the last few issues weren't in many papers. It's a fun series to collect.
