Fy there and do a walk thru. If you have a dozen books that qualify, it's the best alternative.

That is true f you want to send your books in one at a time. If you list fifty books on eBay, you are going to pack, ship and insure each of them, mostly individually. Let MCS handle it for you and you only have to do it once. Now, if you are the type who makes a profit off of shipping, you will lose out on using MCs, but for the rest of you, MCS makes it easier to sell.

I'd much rather send one package to MCS and let them do everything but price the books. One box of fifty vs packing and shipping fifty boxes and sitting around hoping my buyers aren't scam artist. I used Bob Storms to sell an AF 15 and TTA 27 and was quite happy with everything. I sold a few high end books through Comic Link and while I was okay with the money I got, I was very unhappy about the time that elapsed between the auction and the day I got paid. I mostly use MCS these days, although I've been trying out a new place that I have not reached an opinion on. Do enough business with anyone and minor problems arise. How dealers or companies react to those problems is every bit as important to me as price.

Because 41 year old books are certainly modern.

Both of those are pretty standard auction house terms. Once you buy an item, it is no longer the auction houses responsibility. While I don't agree with it, that's just the way it is. You can make a lot of money with auctions, but you need to do your due diligence and know the risks. Few auctions will act as an unpaid storage center for your stuff. They want it gone asap so they can sell new stuff.

That is in a hobby where some coins are thousands of years old. Comics started in the late 1930s. When CGC started in late 1990s, the Modern tier was for books less than twenty five years old. Twenty plus years later, I just think it is time to adjust the terminology.

Songs from 1975 qualify as Golden Oldies but the comics are still modern. My 1973 Mercury Montego is a classic car, but comics from two years later are moderns.

I graduated HS in 1976 and half of my class is now collecting Social Security. CGC can keep the price structure but at some point they really should change the name.

Are your cards in top loaders? I have boxes that hold 3200 raw cards but only about 800 top loaders. I'm looking for bulk commons from 58-75 if you have a bunch.

It doesn't hurt to be, shall we say, ambitious. Everytime you lower your asking price 5%, it gets relisted as new in stock.

What you collect rocks! What they collect sux! For what it is worth, Ive never met a serious Underground collector. In recent years I've run into a lot of foreign comic collectors. I've no numbers to back up my assertion but it wouldn't surprise me if the foreign collectors outnumber the underground ones these days. Both groups almost certainly outnumber the Platinum Age ones.

So the guy putting together an oscure golden age run doesn't find a site dedicated to the hobbies hottest books useful. Wy should that effect the 98% of the hobby who doesn't collect obscure GA books? Should we all reject Overstreet because it doesn't cover foreign editions?

Key Collector is great for identifying books, like you said, but it isn't free and their pricing is incoherent. It is a good tool.

I sold most of my Masterworks but still have my Omnibi. I keep saying I'm going to read the Marvel SA books by the month from FF 1 to 1965 but never do.
