  1. I'm sure the people into variants of Stand signatures will bid this up tremendously.
  2. If you have enough, you might be able to get a new toy yoda.
  3. I loved Nova when it came out in the summer of 1976. Of course, living next to Riders home town of Hempstead, it was ridiculous how little of Long Island made it into the book. Was really impressed with issues 2 and 4, but I remember dropping the book not long afterward. Read the rest of the issues when I got a collection a few years later and wasn't impressed.
  4. CGC has a pressing service. They no longer allow outside pressers to solicit business here.
  5. Who would you say was the creator of Groot? Was it the guy back in 1962 who did a throw away storyline or does whomever reimagined him in the 1990s get any credit? I'm not defending Layton but how much recreating of a character does one have to do to get co-creator status? I'd argue whomever did Magnus and the Western heroes in the Valiant Universe have as much creator status as the 1960s writers.

  7. If you didn't mean it, then retract your posts. Dragging a guy through the mud because you had a bad experience is garbage. Your apology seems insincere and an afterthought.
  8. Then why accuse a victim of a crime of something based on some personal experience with an unrelated business? I spend a good bit of time literally begging people to support non profits and it's pathetic uninformed nonsense like this that makes the job harder and results in good people being needlessly sceptical.
  9. I imagine people taking uninformed shots just makes it tougher.
  10. I don't think that would work. I have the same style storage unit door and if it is locked, it cant be opened on the inside. I was concerned someone could bust through the roof and simply open the door to exit, but they can't. My storage units aren't that far from this place, maybe a mile and a half. BTW- the storage unit place I use does not allow any item valued at more than $5,000 to be stored in a unit. You sign an agreement to that effect, and my insurance company limits the amount you can insure to $10,000 total, and $5,00 for any one item.
  11. I will be there, but am not a facilitator.
  12. Johnny Seven was the one that got away. I wanted one so badly. I going to guess it was 1964,maybe 65. #1 on my wish list, but right around Thanksgiving, a friend got one for his birthday and ended up breaking something with one of the bullets. Mom put an end to that ,with the old shoot someones eye out routine. I ended up getting a new "varoom" bike instead. Not a bad trade. About three years later, I got a Mugumbo Johnny Eagle rifle with plastic bullets that could break a coke bottle, but my Dad kept the bullets secret from Mom( supposedly) Our little secret as we'd take it out shooting.
  13. Flying in on the 24th, but right back out on the 25th. I'd rather see rain than snow. I don't miss either.
  14. How a company ships is not universal. "They" use different methods. If you mention a specific company, hopefully you'll find someone with experience with them. In the future, these questions are better asked before you subscribe.
  15. You've passed on a slabbed book because the exterior, unconnected, outer bag didn't meet your approval? Or bought a book only because it's shiny outer bag made it more attractive? I have bought hundreds of raw books only because they were in Mylar, but never passed on a book because it wasn't. I can't imagine a books temporary outer bag influencing my decision.
  16. I'm not really familiar with the carded action figure market so any advice would be great. I'm looking at an original owner collection of about 80 carded figures, mostly from the early 80s, but a few late 70s Star Wars figures. The collection is Star Wars figures, Secret Wars and Super Powers, as well as a few Masters of the Universe, GI Joe and a sprinkle of weird lines- Power Lords, Macross, ect. He had the good sense not to open them, so they are still on the card, but he trimmed all the cards. In order to save space, he trimmed the none blister parts of the cards. As an example, he has an original 16 back Darth Vader and CP30, with the figure intact inside the blister, but a full third of the card is gone. Some cards have just a bit of trimming, while others are missing half the card. How would you describe them? I know the trimming hits the value hard but how would you price one as opposed to a raw card? More importantly, how would you grade them? He argues that the figures are mint on a damaged card. Does the intact blister trump the obvious trimming? I looked on ebay but didn't see much to guide me. He is asking several thousand for the collection, which strangely doesn't include a single of the rarities in any set. He claims the collection wasn't cherry picked but it is strange how he has only common figures. If they were on mint cards, I'd have bought them at his price. Anyways, any thoughts are welcome.
  17. Very nice. I hope it is the first of many. My advice would be to savor the moment and sell the books as quickly as possible. The way to make money is to churn inventory, not acquire it .
  18. I recently moved from Long Island. I'd recommend a dehumidifier when April comes around. Put a fan going as much as possible, heat is not a books friend.
  19. Thanks. I had a vague memory of a Sky Captain insert being rare. Thanks for filling in a gap in my memory.
  20. I'd have to see the product but it has potential. I would love to walk into a lawyers office and see one sitting on a shelf.
  21. One of the only scenes I remember from the mid 60s animated(?) Thor cartoon was that very scene. Loki is imprisonedd in a tree and can only be released when a warrior weeps over his fate. Over the years, Loki learns to manipulate the tree and causes a leaf to fall I to a guys eye, causing it to tear. I bet he'd get a kick out of those rarely seen videos, which are pretty cheap.
  22. So all the polybagged copies have the Sky Captain insert? That's disappointing. Guess I'll toss it in my weird variant box and let someone else deal with it eventually. Thank you. This board is a great source of information most of the time.
