  1. This is really strange. I know John Farrar, the guy whose name is on that contract. He has lived on Collins in Williston Park his whole life, works as a butcher and to the best of my knowledge never owned a house in West Hempstead. His only connection to comics that I know of was a CB handle he used back in the late 70s. His brother Billy( or William as he calls himself these days) is a lawyer but most in financial dealings.
  2. He lived with his parents, or step parents or some older couple in an old house on Little Neck Parkway a couple blocks north of Jericho Tpke, in Bellrose right at the city border. It was a corner house, and the rest of the block were apartment buildings. It had a nice sized backyard, with an old Lincoln in the driveway. I'm not aware of him have yard sales but I only learned of him after I joined the boards. I did some business with Fantazia in the mid 80s and never had an issue. Brokered a deal for a Marvel 1. I was always waiting for the guy to call me telling me it was a frankenbook but it turned out he had sold it a few years after he bought it
  3. I just sent a low grade TTA 35 pence version to Mycomicshop on consignment if anyone is interested. It will be available in a week or so.
  4. I use them, but inside another box. I wouldn't trust them in the mail by themselves, unless I was sending a couple of fifty cent books.
  5. Most major conventions look for ease of travel for its attendees. That's why Chicago and Cincinnati work, as they are midway from anywhere. Orlando has a zillion flights in and out of it, as do Vegas and NY. Not San Diego. San Diego has lost an NBA team, as well as its NFL team. I just don't see them opening their purse for a convention center that is already under-utilized.
  6. No, that would be a reason not to expand it. Taxpayers rejected a stadium there that would be used ten weeks a year, chasing their NFL franchise out of town. Having prime SOCAL real estate sitting empty 50 weeks a year is much too wasteful. If half the space is only used once a week now, asking for more money to build more space that will sit equally empty would be truly wasteful. If the people of SD wont support a football team, why would they support a comic con. Why should they?
  7. I would imagine that would depend on what goes on at the Convention Center the other 50 weeks a year. I can't imagine any facility expanding simply for a one week show.
  8. Sounds like he picked it up to trade for stuff he wants more. Used to be a lot of that going on in this hobby. Best of luck to the purchaser. Hope you make out on the deal. If I were in your shoes, I'd take my time and get something you really, really, want.
  9. Having a ticket didn't always guarantee admission. Heck, being an exhibitor didn't.
  10. One of my favorites, but I never had the chance to meet him. RIP
  11. If Canada ever gets a border that doesn't freeze in the winter, I'd open up such a service in a heartbeat.
  12. I was under the impression the second image is him at the Carbo booth with the items. Or it could be his booth that he subleased from Carbo - point is, I am under the impression he went back to an area Carbo leased from NYCC directly after the theft. That's not what you said though. You asked if there wasn't video of Mike taking stuff back to his booth. Other people, who were either Mikes guests or perhaps even workers were caught bringing stuff to Mikes booth, after Mike was gone. I'm not defending Mike. I'm not sure what to make. Someone I trust says Mike was innocent in it, but another person I also trust says he isn't so innocent. But, as far as I know, no photos or video have circulated showing Mike in possession of, or taking any of the stuff. Peoples reputations can be ruined by poorly chosen words. The video and or screen caps don't show what you say they did. Doesn't mean he's innocent, by any stretch., but they certainly don't show him committing a crime.
  13. That's not the issue. Your fellow Canadian asked" didn't the video show Mike bringing stuff back to his booth." It doesn't, as far as I know. Have you seen a video that shows him?
  14. Not any video that I have seen and I'm pretty sure I saw everything that was put out for public consumption.
  15. So if I buy something, someone else can still get it until I pay for it?
  16. I accepted it and even got an email saying the item sold but don't ship as buyer hasn't paid yet.
  17. Stupid Ebay question. How does something like this happen? I have a card set up for $40. Someone sends me a best offer of $20, which I counter with $30. They counter with $28, and ask if they can pay in three days. I say okay. Five days goes by, they don't answer an email I send on day four. Today, someone offers $35, which I had the listing set to accept any offer of $35 or above. How was this still listed when I'd accepted an earlier offer. Did it relist itself after the guy didn't pay in a timely fashion? I'm going to go with the second guy, but don't understand why it was still listed.
  18. I listed a bunch of Pittsburgh Steelers items on eBay that I bought from the owner of a defunct Steelers bar out here. Sold a couple of items and two days ago got an offer from a guy who said he'd bartended there. We struck a deal on a few things and then he asked about picking them up in person as he also lived in Henderson. My local police and library actually have a program where they assign an officer to a room in the library a few hours a week to provide a safe place for transactions, and also do the same in the city courthouse. Neither worked for him as he works graveyard at a bar. When I asked which bar, it turned out to be the one on the corner of my complex. When I mentioned I lived here, it turns out he lives in the next quad. Each building has four apartments, hence Quads. Turns out his wife and son know me from the dog park. Small world.
  19. Hopefully, he cameos in GOTG 3 and the book skyrockets.
  20. I've always heard that the show itself was terrible. Anybody here attend? Wonder why it went through Monday? BTW- That Monday was the Chuck Wepner- Mohamed Ali fight. An out of work actor named Sly watched the fight in a bar and a legend was born.
  21. Where are you located? Many forumites may be willing to work with you if located near them. If you are in driving distance of Vegas, I'd be willing to help you out.
  22. Really. Who dies their hair gray? Looks much better since he washed that mess out and went natural.
